I made an inquiry about UOB PB recently and was told that the min deposit requirement is RM500k but this is only for a single account name. If it is a joint account, the min deposit requirement is RM1mil. This is pretty odd comparing with other banks' practice, also noting that one would prefer to have a joint account for some reasons. Can any member verify this?
*
yep, it is. unless both are PB already, else need 1m. reason being they are unable to give PB status to 1 of the account holder only.

I am an existing Ambank Priority Banking customer but since last month, I moved most of my funds to another bank and current balance with Ambank is less than 200k. If I were to apply a supplementary PB world master card for my family now, how likely that it will be approved since I should not be a PB customer now by definition?
*
they will still approve, since it is supplementary card....

but the benefits, will no longer hold as PB customer...... as of the lounge access.....

not partially. if - sales charge and assuming UT break even @ 1:1 ratio already ~3% p.a. only. Basically need to bet UT perform at 7% for entire year to really a clean 5% on entire investment (200k in example)

partially does not constrain to a percentage whistling.gif

for your case above 500k. i would suggest,
100k into sc privilege saver(4% with minimal condition), 100k into ocbc (3.6% with more work than scb), 300k into alliance(3.25% do nothing).
*
ocbc can 200k. icon_idea.gif

Hi all,

If one wants to transfer his funds - from Maybank Premier to Alliance SavePlus - under own account/same name, to enjoy higher interest rate. Say RM1 million. Shall one just transfer the Rm1 million in a lump sump from Maybank Premier to Alliance SavePlus?

Or would it be better to transfer in different tranches, say Rm300K, next day Rm200k etc.

There's legal proof for the source of income, but would like to avoid any major reporting to BNM etc. when there's a big transaction. Just to avoid the any troubles and questions.

Any advice? Thanks a lot!
*
as long as it hit 30k and above (iirc), they will need to report to BNM. you are transferring to your own account, you can just say for FD purpose.

can't believe the way they reward the ultra rich is to make a card that's heavier to carry around...
*
so you just carry theirs. and spend more on their card rclxm9.gif

Just some extra information on Standard Chartered Bank Priority Banking. Just like HSBC Premier, the status is recognised overseas but it’s not automatic like HSBC. Your RM need to write in so they can link your account manually, so you don’t have to fulfil the minimum deposit again to gain SCB Priority Banking status in another country. I found out some SCB RM do not know about this, and have been giving the wrong information to their clients that Standard Chartered do not recognise cross-border Priority Banking status, but in fact they do.
*
oh yes, and speaking of SCB PB, recently they are moving forward more digital strategy. apparently, they are looking into auto conversion accounts to PB account, and auto withdraw PB status in near future. Not sure if this will materialise tho. and maybe in future they may link up with overseas account automatically too. haha

Do you guys actually use the lounge facilities? I mean, I’ve always found them to be quite, erm, superfluous....
*
well, I would say that's like a packaging of a product... you like it or not, doesn't matter, but that attracts... hahaha

Fair comment haha. My beef about these lounges and the free coffee/tea/soft drinks/snacks that they provide is that the rental/staff/maintenance/upkeeping costs etc could have been passed back to the customers in the form of better rates for their deposits, for example.
*
well, physical experience is undeniably 1 of the key element. It's like you taking business class, you prefer to get something above average. hahaha

there were some lounge, coffee capsules are kept. you gotta ask the staff to take out for you. i find it kind of...... confused.gif confused.gif doh.gif doh.gif
