Damn Tim Apple put slower memory chips for all 256gb iPhone 17 except the Air.
Yes base 17, 17 pro, and 17 pro max 256gb models are using slower flash memory chips compared with 512gb and above This post has been edited by N9484640: Oct 9 2025, 09:11 PM |

QUOTE(dog999 @ Oct 9 2025, 08:56 PM) I was monitoring the iPhone 16 pro 256gb prices the last few months during sales time. Cheapest I saw was around 3.5k - 3.6k. But didn’t pull the trigger coz somehow preferred the iPhone 17 series.I’m really tempted to get the iPhone 17 now. Want to get the upgrades over and done with. The iPhone Air took time to setup as I had to convert to esim first on my old phone. Made a mistake and failed to convert. So I went to Maxis center but they didn’t have any QR code. I decided to convert on the spot using the Hotlink app ($5 fee). The maxis lady said some customers had issues also. Fortunately, it was successful. Setting up the Air was a breeze after that. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 9 2025, 11:43 PM) Yes, iPhone 17 is really a good phone at that price. My mom can't wait to get it. Nice. Waiting for 11/11 sale, rite? I think the i17 is too popular. Hope some discounts will happen soon. Hehe. So, now you are using 17PM and also Air? Yup. 17pm is my main phone though. The screen display seems more vibrant on the pro max. Just my first impression and will observe more on the Air. My second thought was the phone is too thin and slippery. But love the lightness of it. |

Yes, hoping to score a good deal on 11.11 or 12.12 depending on the stock availability. I checked Apple site just now, all colors are available for pick up tomorrow except for the sage. I really like the sage but it seems my mom prefers the lavender. Her second choice is sage. Yup. 17pm is my main phone though. The screen display seems more vibrant on the pro max. Just my first impression and will observe more on the Air. My second thought was the phone is too thin and slippery. But love the lightness of it. Yes, it’s so thin when I tried it out in Switch, I can barely hold it properly but I guess once we get used to the shape and weight, it will be alright. ftan liked this post

Question for buying iPhone from a brick and mortar store. I checked Apple Store and I cannot do pickup for iPhone 17 at TRX as it has no stock.
Is it fine if I buy from one of the telco stores or Machines/Switch? Reason is I've been buying phones online and last experience buying at a shop is Nokia dumb phones lol. This is for my dad though so I hope to bring him jalan jalan to Apple Store at TRX but there is no stock as of this post ![]() |

Yes, you can buy from those authorized dealers (Machines, Switch, TMT etc.) or telcos but usually telcos will tie you with certain plans and contracts. Is it fine if I buy from one of the telco stores or Machines/Switch? Better buy from apple store, machines, switch, tmt compared from telco.. If apple store trx has no stock then go for machines or any authorized dealer mentioned earlierIs it fine if I buy from one of the telco stores or Machines/Switch? QUOTE(dikae @ Oct 11 2025, 06:35 PM) Air can’t even beat 17 base model… battery life and performance also lose… despite the Pro chip and 12GB RAM.I am so tempted by 17.. but I’ve got no faults with my base 15.. really no reason to change. And the 17 beats the 16 Pro except the camera… I like the titanium body.. Air is nice in the hand but if it’s gonna be in a case then no point. If only it wasn’t so compromised I’d consider it. Got a feeling there may not be an Air 2 given the sales lagging. |

However, those who are on pro max previously it will be super hard for them to move yo 17 due to the small screen size. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 12 2025, 11:12 AM) 17 is good indeed overall. I usually laugh at them. Old cannot see is it. However, those who are on pro max previously it will be super hard for them to move yo 17 due to the small screen size. I used various sizes, from 11 then down to 13 mini and back up to 15. Loved the 13 mini but the battery was too compromised. I test drove 16 pro max twice… natural and black. Was simply too heavy, not nice to hold 1 hand even with MagSafe ring. I really dig the natural finish. The screen didn’t matter at all to me since I use it mainly to read and watch YouTube which is 60fps max anyway. Screen size is big, but I went back to 15 no issue. Wasn’t life changing. Oh and it was heavy as fk. I was fond of the 16 pro, lucky didn’t buy else I’ll be wtf 17 better. (I don’t need telephoto lens). It really is personal preference but calling vanilla 17 small is.. I dunno. Phones just keep getting bigger. I guess I am an outlier. lol. Form factor matters more. And no iPhone is “slow” since Apple’s A chips are always top of the game. But smart commercial move by Apple. If you want big screen, it’s Pro Max. |

Switch trade in can get Rm1700, but I do not feel the need to change yet. |

The Air battery life is ok for my usage which is some light surfing and bank app. I still find myself using the pro max more and yes, battery life is better.I think the iPhone 17 is better value as a second phone but I wanted to try something new. |

I think its about 1 charge vs 2 charge thing , the air and the 17 should be just need extra 1 juice in the middle and good to go. And can forgot about the 20-80% on these phone , just fully use the battery capacity , charge to 100%.Thanks for sharing. AIR is just like a showcase for Apple to show off their technology and ability to the world , if u ask me worth or not? I feel that samsung edge actually make more sense with dual camera + stereo speaker which more like a complete package of a slim phone , but if iOS is the only choice and u have the extra money , just go for it to enjoy the slim and light weight technology , life short , enjoy while u stil affordable |
