Why didn't you stick to windows, saw many great laptop deals for windows. For RM2500 you can get a seriously good machine already.
*
Previously I work on windows for coding. Now I retired already and my Intel Xeon PC is too old, if broken no more replacement part available.
For laptop already got one. Now I'm planning to replace windows CPU with Mac Mini and reuse other part (monitor, mouse and keyboard).
I'm no longer do coding, now focus on trading. Idk if MacOS will suit me or not. I'm buying anyway.

M4 already very powerful vs other machine outside. I find it good deal.
If you give me a choice, my answer is apple vs windows. I changed to apple since 5 years ago. Os and stability is the problem on windows. A lot of people compare the powerful of android and windows laptop hw , but apple wont lose due to it ecosystem integration, stability and use less resources
*
Yes, considering M4 come with 16gb RAM is already good deal. But the size is small, worry if thermal will become an issue if run 24/7, or not?
256gb storage is not an issue for me as I'm using external storage for my stuff.

I prefer windows, and if windows had an ARM desktop at this price and performance, I would pounce on it immediately but they don't, so that's why I'm buying this Mac Mini M4, the minute I can edit 4K video and export it super fast on my phone with ease, was the minute I knew my next computer had to be one of these ARM models.

Also if you worried about cooling, you can buy these USB fans and just place them around the casing (I am still waiting for someone to create a cooling case for the Mac Mini M4)

I've tried ollama on m2 mac mini previously. It was working great for 8b parameter model. So I am hoping 16GB M4 can run at least 13b since it was slow as snail on the base m2.

Anyone knows how much a 2020 27" iMac (intel) is worth on the second hand market? It has 256 G of HD space. I may consider letting mine go since I am moving on to the M4 mac mini

Can consider using it as monitor for your new Mac Mini M4.

Infact since it's Intel, I'd run bootcamp (they don't have this for M series Macs, only Intel Macs) on the old iMac Intel, so whenever I need windows it's just there.

So you get the best of both worlds Mac and Windows.

2020 no value already. Apple trade in normally 3-5 years. more than 5 years no value.

For the past few weeks I have been trying to use the iMac as a main display for my Macbook Pro. Of course using side car is the best option and the smoothest. However the Mac mini will have no built in display. I then tried using a dongle with 4K video capture card. Laggy and resolution is too poor. I have tried the luna display dongle, same issue. I have even tried using a wired connection with the luna display. All laggy except for side car.

Why not use a HDMI dummy plug for headless config? Can use sidecar with that I think.

One thing bad about the Mac Mini M4 is that it's too affordable until all the accessories seem overpriced.

Like I was looking at the magic trackpad, and the price I really cannot justify spending 1/4 the price of a Mac Mini M4 on this.

It's just a theory, not sure it will really work. Will try it when I receive my M4.

Just get Logitech MX Master 3S. My best companion for my Mac. Apple accessories might look good but it actually sucks.

dummy hdmi is something u plug in the hdmi port to trick the computer it has a monitor. So your sidecard would work when you have a main monitor. But you still need to set it up first to have sidecar runs automatically?
