LOC (line of credit) works similar like balance transfer. You will need to fill in a form to apply for it. If approve, you will be provided with a LOC account number.

With this LOC account number, you can transfer you balance from AMEX (only from amex charge card) to the LOC account to settle your amex balance. So your amex card left no balance, and you will need to pay to LOC acct in the future. Of course there will be handling fees and financial charges that stated in the lift let.

MBB AMEX is free for first 2 years if you apply at the branch (new application). Not sure if it's the same for AMEX charge card.

Usually bank will charge for replacement unless you can press the CSE not to charge on the replacement fee otherwise threaten them that you're going to cancel them.

For your case, I guess that you have keep on bugging them till they reverse the charge or what so ever.

Major different between charge and credit card is ...

Charge Card : you have to made full payment on due date. Spending limit based on your payment records and spending pattern.

Credit Card: you only have to pay the minimum amount on the statement shown, interest apply...and credit limit is set.

if you wish to get charge card, i suggest you give AMEX a call... they might assist you further.

basically...maybank amex credit card is called co-brand card. (got amex logo and maybank logo)

and since amex sold over their malaysia card business to maybank already. Maybank now can offer American express RCP (regular charge product) or market term is charge card which only bears amex logo.

In terms of the operation, staff are all from maybank regardless of amex maybank co brand or amex rcp in malaysia.
