OK, its a choice thingy... but just share currently all new feature in Max are borrowed from Maya.. and is always half cooked.. haaaa.. you tried on the
new slate materials interface? while its good for something.. i find it waste of time if you are doing multi mat alot..
they are very different in controlling animation.. ill suggest if eventually you really want to reach there.. ill really suggest you bite on...you may have to start all over after all.. but one thing is that you will have the concept foundation (terminology) which is good..
Hardware wise.. I am currently on Quaddro 3800, mid-high card on top end HP elite workstation.. unless u are looking at CUDA, personally finding Quaddro might not worth the $ anymore... its more for screen interface..
As most of the driver for DX is equally good now.. due to gaming tech, DX may become main stream and replace...
my 2 cents..
cheers!
haha, thx for ur advice, the new slate materials interface, i tried, but hard to manage, i go back to the traditional one

yea, someday i will have to go to maya and try it out, but since my 3ds max has some plugin in it (primarily the vray), and also all my tutorials are 3ds max , i lazy to make the jump, but someday i will try out maya

hardware wise, my laptop is just only dv6 6001tx, which is i7...that's all, dont have a deep understanding of the hardware dept.
