Inception (2010)

What a ride!

I don't believe I've every seen a commercial movie, with such intricate storyline before.

I pretty much guess the ending in the middle of the movie, and was NOT sorry that was indeed the ending Mr. Nolan chose

I best thing about this movie is that it doesn't treat it's viewers as morons.

Well done Mr Nolan.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010)

Mr Jerry Bruckheimer have obviously made a lot of money.

He does it with the Mr Jerry Bruckheimer formula which basically states, you pour as much money as you can into CGI, and they will come.

Unfortunately for Mr Jerry Bruckheimer, 2010 is the year this formula did not work out so well for him.

Case in point, this movie and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010). They are CGI galore, but when it REALLY matters, the story (or lack there of) just isn't good.

Mr Jerry Bruckheimer, please take a leaf from Mr Nolan or Pixar, throw some good money into getting the script right as well as CGI effects. It pay, I assure you!!

John Rabe [2009]

a director of Siemens China who'd saved 200 000 Chinese during Japanese invasion in World War 2. he led the administration of International Safety Zone in Nanking. its quite like Schindler's List story, but not as good as it. but its quite refreshing, no Hollywood touch, its a cooperative film between China, France and Germany.

in reality, the Japanese Government never admitted they involved in that Nanking Massacre.

Rating 8/10

I would say the movie was quite interesting and it was definitely worth watching, but I kinda guess who the "ehem" person before the ending part. Would recommend people to go watch it. 7.5/10

Just watched Salt.

It was abit short ... didn't even make the 2 hour mark but I thought it was an enjoyable movie.

My friend however commented that it was a no-brainer-shoot-em-up-action movie.

The Last Air Bender (2010)

Okay, let's call a plate a plate and a bowl a bowl.

Avatar (No, NOT the giant smurfs) The Last Air Bender is originally a very successful Nickelodean animation (all three seasons). It won the hearts and mind of the young and old (me being the older...)

Mr Shyamalan took risk adapting this material because

1) He had NOT had a bonifide hit for a long LONG time

2) The material has such loyal following

Do I really think the movie sucks major?

In a nutshell, no.

This movie has MANY faults.

Mainly in casting

Putting the weight on the whole movie on the young shoulders of Noah Ringer (Aang) is suicidal

Noah Ringer "fights" well (obviously he has been Kung Fu-ing for some time now. Sometimes, he looks like he is channeling Jet Li, I swear!! tongue.gif).

But can he act? and the answer is no...

Another big mistake was casting Nicola Peltz as Katana, again was too much for someone so young...

Jackson Rathbone was okay, but should have been lighter (character wise)

They definitely should have cast Aang and Katana a little old, therefore with more acting skills...

Second issue is with the story

Some parts were handled well (the "origins" of prince Zuko) and others not so much (mainly the establishment of Aang, Zatana and Sokka)

In actually fact, it is a mess...

Now, the action part of the movie is another story.

Well planned and executed.

The "bending" skills of water, fire earth and air are well done.

This is suppose to be a the 1st book of the TV series.

I do hope Mr. Shyamalan gets a chance to do the 2nd book and redeem himself on every level

I actually DON'T have anything I want to see until Harry Potter 7....

Nanking Nanking [2009] aka The City Of Life and Death

The film deals with the Battle of Nanking and its aftermath (commonly referred to as "The Rape of Nanking" or the "Nanking Massacre") during the Second Sino-Japanese War.

A forgotten historical massacre during WW2. The way of most Japanese Historian denied this massacre are very lowly vmad.gif

Rating 8.5/10

Looking forward to watch related documentary about this, Nanking [2007]
