Les Miserables [1998]

someone recommended it to me here.. its good, and thanks to it rclxms.gif

on personal view, i think i didnt like the ending.. left me a bit puzzling, why the main antagonist unexpectedly change his heart.. its a good twist, but i cant see why on earth he ****** himself..

7.5/10

Someone, SOMEONE!!!! "IT"!!!!!!????? *Sigh* The THINGS "it" does!! laugh.gif

I think it is clearer if you read the book.

The "antagonist" had a suddenly clear insight of his actions and consequences and could not live with himself for what he had done, therefore....

Someone/it indeed.... smile.gif

Lost in Space (1998)

A sci fi movie based on a Lost in Space (1965) TV Series.

It is not the first time I've watched this, and I still like it.

Not sure if there are many people here that remembers the original series, Star Trek it is NOT. The movie is decent, with decent cast and decent Special Effects, I have always wondered why a second movie was never made.

Because it flopped.

It flopped because it sucked.

Solitary Man [2009]

Ben Kalman is aging: he has heart problems, his marriage is over, he's lost a fortune after being caught cutting corners in his East Coast car business, and he's sleeping with as many women as possible - the younger the better. He's chosen his current girlfriend, Jordan, because her father can help him get a new auto dealership; she's asked him to escort her daughter, Allyson, 18, on a visit to a Boston college campus. He behaves badly, and there are consequences to his love life, his finances, and his relationship with his daughter and grandson. Is there anywhere he can turn?

just between average and decent, 5.5/10. i never like Michael Douglas, but i think he performed very well in here.

Oh yeah. I have fond memories of it too. I watched it at least four times as a kid. Would love a sequel. William Hurt and Gary Oldman owned!

Sometimes falling in love with a movie when you're a kid can affect your perception of it as an adult. Like Jurassic Park, seen objectively it has big flaws, but it's one of my favourite movies because it was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid.

lol yeah I haven't been posting much.

Last movies watched eh...

Clash of the Titans. Boring

Prince of Persia. Boring.

Iron Man 2. Hey I thought it was passable entertainment. There wasn't a whole lot of progression and after 2 hours you realize not much has actually happened, but I didn't find it boring (largely due to Downey Jr, his charm is slightly on the wane though), the action scenes were pretty good although bogged by too much CGI. It's inferior to the first (which wasnt that good anyway) but it's one of the better movies this year. Needed Jeff Bridges.

Funny Games U.S. Odd film. SPOILERS ahead. On the one hand I think it's absolutely effective as a sadistic horror-thriller, up to a certain point. On the other hand, Haneke becomes a bit too clever in breaking the fourth wall. I dont mind the character talking directly to the audience, but that one scene when he uses a TV remote to rewind what just happened... is hard to accept. I know Haneke wants us to know this isn't a conventional horror movie where the bad guys torture the good guys and the good guys kill the bad guys, but it would have been better if he went ahead and shot it straight without any overt manipulations. Plus, he seems to be making a message that you don't need on-screen blood and violence to make a horror movie stick, but again that scene, although eventually rewound, is exactly what the gore-lovers salivate after. Anyway, before the first character dies the movie is utterly effective. In other similar movies you are always aware you are watching a serial killer/torture movie, you set your expectations on what is going to happen next, your expectations are met, etc etc. Not so here, the movie is shot in a very personal manner and unlike other similar movies and it just swallows you and disturbs you. The movie loses its stranglehold on you midway through the movie after a character dies, and never really gains ground after. Still a good movie, and a pretty unique one.

No Rouke was a disappointment. His character was poorly written and developed (the whole movie was actually). That's why I said the movie needed Jeff Bridges.

macgruber - one of the funniest this year

expandables - gang had zero chemistry, sadistic, mean spirited, sly + the rourke = freakshow, a sign your flick gonna suck if Lundgren outshines everyone, surprisingly gave a very sympathetic performance. the two female cast are hot though.

180° South - docu about a dude inspired by his hippy heroes to retrace their footsteps to Patagonia. awesome stuff one of my fave this year.

I have to say i'm pretty much in love with the movie.

Well written and a beautiful piece.

Not an art film yet it goes easy on the eyes.

Do check it out and let me know.

Robin Hood (2010)

A very unremarkable movie. They took the Robin Hood legend, stripped it of its flavour and turned into such a typical and drab movie. There isn't much that I can say is bad in it, but there is absolutely nothing worthy of praise here. This is why I don't want the Ridley Scott of Robin Hood, Body of Lies, American Gangster etc directing the new Alien movie.
