That's exactly what you need to ask yourself.

In my case, I had a collection of media files (movie, docu and music) as well as a number of dvds that I wanted to watch. But watching on my PC was so unsatisfying.

I also had a 40" LCD sitting downstairs, so I wanted to see the HD stuff on a larger screen (although only 720p, 1080p LCDs were sooo expensive).

Do the sums...

Announcement...

This month w_w.ideatools.com.my offering Dvico Tvix 4100 for RM1440 w/o tuner. Go for it. As I understand there's new model coming out (Tivx 6500SH) early this year.

But I just manage to get one from other dealer with Tvix 4100SH + tuner for RM1450. Incredible machine with multi capable playback. With HDMI, the 4100SH will meet most of my current requirements. ( A media storage, Media Player and DVB-T Tuner)

For other divx fans, who interested to purchased Tivx better buy in bulk it may save RM. As new model arrive, the price 4100 will go down soon.

FYI- This set being used by most branded tv manufacturer for displaying their HD LCD tv at commercial centers. Just check at Jusco's.

any Tvix comments ?

guys sorry to steal the thread. It seems to me Dvico is expensive if compared to PS3 40G. Both also can do streaming. I guess PS3 also can play those video format once the firmware is ready ??

I think this thread is beginning to stray.

The thread topic is "Dvico TViX media player owner, pls come in". Hence, please comment if (a) you own one or (b) are interested in, or thinking of getting one, or © use something which has a similar function and want to compare notes. That's how we can all learn from our experiences of using such devices.

And as was posted earlier, we buy for what we see meets our needs. In the case of the Dvico stuff, it is to play back media files, from audio to SD and HD video, either from onboard hard disk, USB disk or via network streaming. I think we are capable of deciding whether the device is worth our money, and do not need to be told that this is too expensive! This is not a Trade Zone topic...

Please dont compare with the gamers and a/v enthusiast. This is a dedicated machine for a/v not for games, and do not compare the price with other game machine. I do agree that PS3 soon will have this ability but it will be limited capability as compared to dvico.

As price concern, this machine was design in korea and manufactured in China thus will minimsed the cost. New Firmware support released almost everymonth.

Guys this is the ultimate machine for a/v crazyness. rclxm9.gif

To kick off the new focussed discussion, I find that I have problems playing back some normal SD avi files, where the audio and video don't seem to sync. It's ok when I play them on my PC. So far, the temporary fix is to convert these avi files to Divx, but it's tedious if you have 6 seasons of Family Guy to convert! Plus others...

Anyone have any experience/ideas/fixes for this?

Anyone interested in setting up a media exchange for HD stuff?
