Go and look at the number of Malaysian's applying for 'asylum' in Australia and clogging up the system.

It is clearly a syndicate doing this. 99% of these people have no ability to even understand what they're doing/in front of a Tribunal, but Rule of Law due process still needs to be followed.

Some of the poeple don't even turn up to their immigration hearing. Once their asylum claim is rejected they file a appeal, knowing it can take _years_ to be heard. So with this additional time bought, they work, earn AUD, save up money, and then leave Australia back to Malaysia based on immigration records.

Honestly, spend a few hours reading AATA judgements involving refuee claims from Malaysia passport holders, and you'd understand why.

Yes. And some famous asylum seekers include C4 handler Sirul... doh.gif

Very strange if you are travelling as a family. I mean you are a real tourist, with kids going for a holiday.
*
Yes. No rhyme or reason … I would imagine if the application is made as a family unit, with children some more…. Entahlah

I think there was a system maintenance last few days even though i submitted the application last friday and still waiting for approval.

Im not sure if they will judge based on your travel history to Australia as i was once a student in Melbourne with multiple trips to Australia after that but still asked to provide supporting documents.

I only submitted bank statement wand national identity back in 2022 and got approved but this time I submitted more financial documents just to be sure

Edit- btw anyone getting this prompt after submitting the evidence documents?
Give details as to why the applicant will not be providing attachments prior to lodging this application.

The only document i didn't provide is the family composition form which should not applicable for Malaysia right

I can't speak for myself, as wife and I have been PRs getting by with RRVs instead of ETAs for the past 15 or so years, but when I applied for (the related) 600 visa for my helper to accompany us to Sydney, I received the same prompt after submitting supporting documents for her (including her work contract, my bank account statements - I chose to show them what I had in my Aussie acounts), but I left quite a few items blank as I was pretty clueless how to submit that which they were asking.

Long story short, the visa came through for a year, multiple entries, and she gets to stay 3 months at a time per entry. All this within 3 days, so I really can't complain.

But, the prompt is a standard feature, I reckon.

Good luck with your application!

Not "rejected outright", but requested to submit supporting documents in 3 out of 4 applications...

For now, that’s still better than removing us from the visa free list altogether….

Yes, they did but they went and apply 600 from immi site without using the link from the PDF.. so they paid additional 190aud 😅
Anyway, they got it approved with company invitation letter.

Wow. That’s a bit of a money grab by the immigration authorities!

people here seeking opinion on how to apply visa and here he is saying australia is boring. who asked?

Well, I’m back to Australia again for a month, to enjoy the start of autumn. Last spring, we spent a month driving from Sydney to Melbourne and onward to Tasmania and then back again in our Cayenne.

This trip, I’m keen to put some miles on the 911 garage queen so I might take it to Katoomba or down the coast towards Illawarra. Plenty to do, plenty to see.

But that’s just me.

Glad you enjoyed it! We head back to Sydney at least 3 to 4 times a year. This is already our second trip since the start of 2024.

[URGENT] Unable to verify passport info via AustralianETA app

To Whom It May Concern,

Trying to use ETA App on iPhone13/Oppo/Huawei. It won't scan passport (gets stuck in green scanning mode, despite no glare on passport) and will not read passport with NFC functionality. Completely stuck. It's been a month now.

Heard that the Australian embassy won,t attend any enquiries related to visa and citizenship matters. So, I'm totally lost now.

FYI, my brother had renewed passport (thinking that the existing passport might have an unknown issue that was blocking the passport to scan further) but still not successful.

Weird thing is, he just came back with the same passport from Munich few days before and had no issue to scan thru via autogate plus immigration's officer here in Malaysia didn't find any abnormalities on the passport itself.

Kindly attend the matter at your earliest convenience.

NOTE: The flight ticket, our stay and car rental already sorted out and next week we'll fly to Gold Coast. But with no visa granted yet, I doubt we can't make it on the dot.
*
Bro, so sorry to hear about your predicament…. but, as some have mentioned previously, it’s probably not wise to book the trip and pay for tickets before the visa is approved.

Good luck nonetheless and I hope you are able to sort out the technical issues soon!

i still dont think its troublesome. just have to compile as many docs as possible before applying for the visa. do enough research on visa beforehand.
*
But according to anecdotal reports, the acceptance rate is quite random and within a family, some will get approved while others will be rejected.

I recently got approved visa 858  and it requires to spend 730 days there. If I don’t spend enough 730 days how will it affect the RRV totally can’t renew?. I see that getting a job there not as easy and salary cant compare to what I’m getting now hence not sure if I wanted to pursue further

Congratulations on securing the visa. However, that's not quite the same visa as the one I'm on. I'm on the old Visa 175 (Skilled independent), which has now been superseded by the 189, IINM. I don't exactly know the terms and conditions of the 858, so I'm not in the best position to advise you on the requirements.

Having said that, I've never actually fulfilled the stated requirements ... ie, I've never spent 2 years out of 5... but, what I've done is to set up a business in Australia (I have a share in a medical practice that employs nurses and doctors) and I have properties and investments and enough money in Australia that I pay substantial taxes to the ATO. And I've happily been given my RRVs (5 yearly ones until the system changed to yearly) for the past 10 years.

Hope that helps your planning.

Australia can fuck off la medical examination next level discrimination. How few old people can even pass the medical test

Even I (young single unemployed) apply for American visa didn’t have much questions, and I didn’t have to show or certify ANY bank or government documents. plus they give 10 years multiple entry one shot.

If Australia wants to remove our fake eta, then by all means do it . I really wish Malaysian government will be more proactive with the reciprocal visa issues, at least more kiasu Australian citizens will have trouble coming here

Just do it
*
When did you apply for the American visa bro? I heard nightmare stories about Malaysian applicants being knocked back multiple times for US visas...

I applied last April bro, for travel in September of last year too.

Was a breeze, zero questions during interview, because most asked in online form already

I also heard horror stories, but was pleasantly surprised

Even at JFK they didn’t ask any intrusive questions

I was holding a UK student visa at the time, so I don’t know if the 5 eyes power sharing agreement helped me with the application and they just got all of my information from the uk 💀
*
Hmm... that's a valid point and an astute observation! One way you could really test the hypothesis is to apply for an Aussie ETA (it's only what, AUD20 haha) ... Australia's part of the 5 eyes powers smile.gif

That's the thing. I don't want to apply visa too early coz if it does get approved fast, then I would burn a few months worth of my visa

But if wait until Sept, then flight ticket will be very expensive by then  cry.gif

Bro, realistically do you envisage yourself visiting Australia twice in 365 days?
