I can quit and continue my games from my last checkpoint.. last time I also face the same problem as u bcoz I reinstall my games (bcoz of crash frequently) but not install WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86..

and btw I bought my GOW also from jack sparrow

Well, not that I don't want to get the ori... but with all the complaints plus my shitty streamyx line so I chose the sparrow version

i finished the game in about 8 hours plus, not really a long game, even after they added extra 5 lvls but still great nonetheless

hey guys, I have tried this method and it seems like the crashing does not appear anymore. I'll explain the method to u guys. Whether it helps or not , pls reply here. I wanted to know whether it's a real solution.

First get urself another version of xlive redist from (default version 1.1.0322, and this one is 1.2.0238): http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/0...ist1.2.0238.msi

and install it.

run the game and continue ur campaign, when u're in the game, paused it and minimize the game.

Then go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries find a file called WarGame-G4WLive.exe (REMEMBER It's 1kb only, if it's not 1kb u probably found a diff one), open it with notepad.

Change tis code from the file:
<OriginalXliveTarget>1.1.0322.0</OriginalXliveTarget>

to

<OriginalXliveTarget>1.2.0238.0</OriginalXliveTarget>

then save it. And continue wif ur game.

Enjoy and play until u feel u wanted to quit, pause the game again. Minimize it and open the WarGame-G4WLive.exe file wif notepad again.

Change the code from:

<OriginalXliveTarget>1.2.0238.0</OriginalXliveTarget>

to

<OriginalXliveTarget>1.1.0322.0</OriginalXliveTarget>

save and close. Then return back to the game. And press quit game. And there u able to finish ur game without crashing! (Remember, although the game said that it won't save ur checkpoint, but it actually does, so dun worry)

Why i think it helps?
GoW requires this xliveredist to save ur game progress and personal setting, the default version 1.1.0322 enable u to auto save the game, but auto save by xlive will crash ur game. Therefore, u need to load ur continue campaign first wif default xlive then disable the auto save by changing xliveredist version. When u wanted to quit, u restore the default version xlive. So tat it can turn normal again.

Pls try it and c whether it solve the problem or not ^^

sparow can save, just dont connect to the internet when u play....

if u r not conected, the save files wont hilang one..seriusly....

make sure disconected 1st b4 start the game..

They're quite easy to deal with

So far Theron Guard + Boomer (plus a couple of Locusts) is more irritating to me But Torque Bow could finish them off easily

Shotgun + Roll = Win.

And whoever said the 360 version is harder ... really? I finished the whole of hardcore on PC with not a single death (honestly). The recoil is so easy to adjust for, and it's like 10x easier to aim the shotgun with the mouse ...

I connect to internet still can continue my last checkpoint, it's not about internet watsoever, but either WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86 or Wargame-G4WLive.exe..

bcoz I tried to uninstall and reinstall back the games but didnt install WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86, as the result I can't continue my last checkpoint..

while got a forumer said he tried to delete Wargame-G4WLive.exe from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries with hoping it'll fix the crash, it does, but also cannot continue his last games..
