QUOTE(madman20 @ Oct 21 2007, 11:44 PM) @Silvercrimz What I meant is the coop feature for the PC version..there were rumors flying few months back saying there won't be coop feature like the xbox360 version Similar to Halo, no? The PC version had no co-op, which really was quite a big omission. For these Lost Planet, GoW etc etc games, do you need Vista/DX10 to play? Or are they like Bioshock that also has DX9 mode (sorry ya ... I got my 8600gts only few weeks ago, and before that was using on-board video for like 2-3 years so I haven't been keeping track with gaming updates).

From a PC and XBox360 owner, I can tell you that the feeling of playing on a big LCD and a small LCD is worlds apart.
If comparing my XBox360 connect to these 2:
1. 20" widescreen LCD monitor, at 12x10 stretch, wide 2. 37" widescreen LCD TV, 768p
#1 actually has more pixels and the picture is sharper, but #2 is a WAY superior gaming experience.
On the other hand, playing PC games on the LCD TV at 13x7, is inferior, because of lots of small text and icons and etc.

Any of you guys on XP?
My monitor native res is 1600x1050 (16:10 aspect), and my 8600gts can't really handle that res without occasional stuttering ... but there are no options at all for a lower 16:10 aspect.
Bioshock on Vista lets you choose 1280x800 (also 16:10) for a full-screen stretch, but Bioshock on XP doesn't have that option, so I'm wondering if it's the same for GoW.
At the moment I'm using 11x86 but it's a 4:3 aspect so I got black bars on left/right of my screen and it's a "waste" of screen space.
Any ideas? I'm using the latest beta nvidia drivers.

QUOTE(Thunderbolt @ Nov 13 2007, 08:54 PM) For 1600x1050 and above, you will need 8800GTS 640mb the most. The rest will struggle like what you are experiencing right now. I can lower my resolution without any problem here So you can choose other 16:10 reso's like 1440x900 and 1280x800? Are you on Vista or XP? Back when I was using Vista, I could choose these lower 16:10 resolutions on other games (Oblivion, Bioshock, etc), but when I switched back to XP, the only 16:10 res I have to choose is 1680x1050 and yes, my 8600gts can't handle it. Wonder why ... even trying it in custom resolutions via Nvidia Cpanel also cannot ... Attached thumbnail(s)

OH YEAH I managed to figure it out 1280x800 with all max settings and forced 4x AA via Nvidia control panel gives a framerate of 35-45fps ... 1440x900 is also doable but during intense gunfights framerate drops to 25-ish ... I'm really really surprised that my crappy 8600gts is up to the task. [edit] Hmm looking at the screenshot closely it doesn't seem that AA is on at all ... hmmmm ... QUOTE(YooNJuN @ Nov 13 2007, 11:54 PM) Woot , how you do it ? I want to set at 1280x800 too , i am using 22" widescreen lcd with 7600gs , sure cant play on high setting with 1680x1050... Through custom resolutions via forceware. Nvidia Control Panel --> Manage custom resolutions --> Create ... and setup as 1.jpg ... then click test and add and you should have the custom resolution ... which will be selectable in-game and also on the desktop. In this case, it doesn't matter if your monitor doesn't support the res you choose (my monitor doesn't support 1280x800), because the driver does 1280x800 res but upscales it to 1680x1050 (or whatever your native monitor res is). QUOTE(xavier7 @ Nov 16 2007, 11:40 PM) omg the glowing wretches howl/growl is dammm irritating, wish i could ram its head against the wall, shove a shotgun into its mouth and pump loads of lead into it... little fxxxs Shotgun + Roll = Win. And whoever said the 360 version is harder ... really? I finished the whole of hardcore on PC with not a single death (honestly). The recoil is so easy to adjust for, and it's like 10x easier to aim the shotgun with the mouse ...

Meh, from the hamachi forums, apparently GoW slaps a 30ms ping limit for LAN games ... i.e. if you're trying to use hamachi to simulate LAN, you need to be able to ping your friend under 30ms to play =_=;; I tried the whole night but no success ... even tho my friend lives 15mins drive away, our pings were 45-50ms ... Added on November 18, 2007, 1:55 amQUOTE(Taman Linkin @ Nov 17 2007, 05:14 PM) Did you know what console user use to aim? Sorry sorry i meant, someone said the PC version was harder than the 360 version (I'm using jack sparrow PC version cos I have the ori 360 version with unmodded box ... but ... the box 3rodd so it's warranty-ing now ...), and I feel PC version is so much easier than console version cos of the mouse vs analog stick. Not sure about the PC version, but versus for the 360 version is 4-on-4 only (Gears vs Locust). By far my favorite thing to do is charge --> chainsaw (you take ridiculously little damage when you're charging), this only works on people new to versus though
