For me its fun because I am not looking into rides.
You can take photo with alot disney cartoon character and the shows there is superb. So pls make sure take the time table at entrance and plan the timing so that you will not miss out any show.

With family, Disneyland could be a nice place. Ocean Park is more on the rides, so it would be more suitable for the young. As Jimmy suggest, take the map at the entrance, and plan the time for your favourite shows and parade. Remember, take the express ticket for some popular rides to avoid long queue if you're going on weekends...

Clothes & shoes can buy in Shenzhen & Guangzhou which could be cheaper, unless you're looking for branded one, e.g. Esprit or G2000. Souvenirs in HK, can buy some Wife Cake from Kee Wah Bakery...

. . . mellow.gif

Actually ne......... HK Disneyland is not as big as those in USA... you know, on quiet weekdays you can even finish all the park's rides in 2-3 hours..... doh.gif tongue.gif

So, if you really wanna stay in their hotel, 1 nite is already enough..

Hi .. since this thread is dedicated to travel in HK, was just wondering whether can anyone give some suggestions for 1st time visitor to HK.

Lots of info, you have on the 1st post of this thread, thanks northasian.

I'll be going there during Dec Xmas week and was wondering where would be the best place to visits and great places to eat. There were just too many exciting places in HK, and too many to visit. So was wondering if anyone could give some suggestions for 1st timers like me.

My trip will last 5D 4N, and was making out some itinerary and would appreciate some suggestions.

The best place to visit for 1st visitor to HK, I think it must be The Peak at night, especially during x'mas many buildings will be lighten up with beautiful light decoration~! 2nd best place is the harbourfront of Tsim Sha Tsui, i.e. the Star Avenue. Walk along and see the night view + Symphony of Light Show at 8pm~

Great places to eat ar... depends on what you like to eat and the budget... You have to tell us more about your preference before we can give suggestions~

you mean the total budget for food during the 5 days in HK is HKD500? I'm afraid that might not be enough... I heard some forumers spent about HKD100 just for the dessert in Hui Lau Shan.....

Anyway, let me give you some suggestions and then you make up your budget again la...

1. Dessert in Hui Lau Shan - famous for different kind of mango desserts, average price for each dessert is about HKD20-30

2. Egg Tart - famous one is the one called 檀島 (Honolulu Coffee Shop), a branch in Mongkok is 旺角洗衣街135號, another two on HK Island and one in HKIA Terminal 2. Average price per egg tart is about HKD5 or above, can't remember...

3. Cha Charn Teng - just pop in any one of them, taste is completely different from Kim Gary, far far a lot more delicious!! Don't believe Kim Gary is originated from HK!!!! Average price per dish is about HKD30

4. Dim Sum - I have a list of Chinese restaurants on #1 post. Try to have it during Tea Time (i.e. after 2.00 or 2.30pm), price might be cheaper, can ask before you go in. Average price for each dim sum abour HKD10

5. Street hawker - along Fa Yuen Street, Sai Yeung Choi Street in Mongkok. Not really a hawker in the street, but shop lot selling different kinda street snack. Average price per item is about HKD5

6. Wanton noodle - completely different from those in M'sia, a lot bigger and many shrimp inside. Try to look for those noodle stall in Mongkok, some as cheap as HKD10-16 per bowl only

7. Wife cake (Lo Poh Beng) - from Kee Wah Bakery or Hang Heung Bakery in Yuen Long. Average price is about HKD5 (Kee Wah will be a bit more expensive)

8. Roast Duck/Roast Pork Rice - can try in Cha Charn Teng or any fast food chain. Average price is HKD20-25 per dish

Actually I've listed all those info on my #1 post, you can find more info from there..

FOOD

DIM SUM
Dim sum is a must for everyone in HK..I went to Tao Heung for Dim sum and it tasted superb! Really miss it so much!! rclxms.gif

NOODLES
NGAU LAM MIEN - I went to Tsui Wah in Central for ngau lam mien on the first day when i arrived..Usually i dun eat beef coz it has a very strange smell...however, i decided to try on it since many people say ngau lam mien tastes very good..so i went to try it..Surprisingly i really love it so much!! Yummy yummy!

WONTON MIEN - My sis had wonton mien instead of ngau lam mien in Tsui Wah..and she said it was so so tasty..In the wonton mien has 8 big big wontons wrap with big shrimps..can't get in malaysia tho.. thumbup.gif Besides, the next few days, i went to Zhi Gei few doors next to Tsui Wah to eat their wonton noodles..It tasted not bad too =)

SINGAPORE FRIED NOODLES (Sing chow mai fun) - Tried this in Peak Cafe in Lan Kwai Fong..It taste very nice and hot..However its kinda expensive..

RICE
PINEAPPLE RICE + TOMYUM SOUP + GREEN CURRY - These are thai food that i tried in a Thai restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong..Forgotten the name of the shop..but the pineapple rice and tom yum soup was so so so good..the green curry was so so but can still be counted as ok..

JAPANESE BEEF and CHICKEN CHOP RICE - I went to lady's street with my sis and cousin in mongkok on thursday to shop and get some souvenirs..however we got so hungry and we just popped in a japanese restaurant to have dinner..so i tried this japanese beef rice..It's kinda nice to eat and tasty..It's located just besides the stalls in Lady's street which i forgotten what name it was as there are many japanese restaurants there..

VEGE RICE - Known as Choi Fun..It is the best Choi Fun that i have ever tasted..The restaurant is called Hang Fa Lau located in Central..I miss choi fun very much wub.gif

CONGEE
The congee in HK is superb..I went to Chi Gei in causeway bay and tried 2 different kind of congee..one is Gap Dai Zhuk and another one is Pei Dan Shau Yuk Zhuk..Both of em taste as yummy as ever coz the congee is very smooth...mmmmmm thumbup.gif

SNACKS
XO Cheung Fun in Hang Fa Lau is the best cheong fun ever..Usually i dun eat much cheong Fun but i dunno why come to the XO cheung Fun in Hang Fa Lau just taste very nice and spicy..you all should try it thumbup.gif

Salt and Pepper Squids in Peak Cafe located in Lan Kwai Fong is just the best squids i ever ate...it was rather full after having these squids as snacks..however the price are kinda pricey tho..but tourist should just give it a try!

Yau Choi Sum / Yau Gai Lan - this vege dish is everyone's favorite...u cant miss it when u enter a restaurant as most of the customers will order a plate to eat..the vegetables are just so fresh and crunchy..Those vege lovers just dont miss it!

Curry Fish Balls - I have tried the curry fish balls in causeway bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok. The most spicy of all is in Tsim Sha Tsui (ate until tears and sweat rolling down) and the least spicy is in causeway Bay..These stalls sell many of those snacks..you guys should try it..I wanted to try the smelly Tofu but my cousin and sis said if i eat it then dun go near them..so i didn't get to try it tho sad.gif

Fried Wonton - Those fried wonton u can get it in any cha charn teng..they taste so good and crispy..there are big shrimps in everyone of them..yummy

DESSERT
HUI LAU SHAN - the best of the best dessert shop alive in Hong Kong..many locals love eating there too..the mangoes dessert just taste so so so so sweet and refreshing!! Those going to HK must not miss this place!! Its everywhere in HK thumbup.gif

HANG FA LAU - Tried the zhi ma hu and zhi ma hu tong yuen..It tastes not bad and i prefer zhi ma hu tong yuen..hehe.. rolleyes.gif

Any Cha Charn Teng in HK - Try their Dung Lai Cha coz it is very nice..It's just like Teh Tarik Bing in Malaysia..haha

PLACES OF ATTRACTIONS
Avenue of Stars - I visited Avenue of Stars in the day and in the night..however, In the night the scenery is better as there are nice lightings of the buildings in HK.

Victoria Peak - Went up to Victoria Peak and headed into Madamme Tussauds..its quite worth the ticket money we paid..very nice wax people in it..too bad i cant see the whole HK in Victoria Peak coz it rains in the evening.. cry.gif

Ocean Park - Didnt manage to go to Ocean Park coz it was drizzling..however, i heard many ppl said that Ocean Park is better than Disneyland.

Lady's Street mongkok- a very reasonably cheap place to get souvenirs and stuff..Is a must go for tourist..Rmb do not get slaughter by them! Bargain to get reasonable price smile.gif

Stanley Market - The souvenirs selling here are more expensive than Ladies Street in Mongkok. However it has nice scenery with nice bay

Lan Kwai Fong is a must to go! It is a very nice ambience and many good looking white guys and white girls having drinks there..Anyway, i have celebrated Halloween in LKF..but it was so crowded so i just went one round and then headed to Krispy Kreme for some doughnuts..haha

SHOPPING
All shopping malls in HK are very nice and presentable. I have been to:
PACIFIC PLACE in admiralty - very high end products sold here.
HARBOUR CITY in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Lee Theatre in Causeway Bay.
Time Square in Causeway Bay.
and few other shopping malls forgotten the name
BOSSINI, GIORDANO and H&M - These are located mostly everywhere but i went to the ones in Central..The clothes there are nice but now mostly selling winter clothings..These shops sell all the youngsters and trendy clothing..nice to take a look around..

FAMOUS PPL
Saw Moses Chan twice and Bernice Liu once during my trip in HK.
First time was in Victoria Park, Causeway Bay where moses and some other tvb artistes having a charity function representing The Ultimate Crime Fighter series.

Second time was in opening ceremony of UNIQLO where Moses and Bernice are invited to the opening ceremony.

WEATHER
The weather in HongKong is just so so cooling and nice during Oct to Nov. When i was there the temperature was just 17-23 degree celcius..So its way better than the humid weather in Malaysia..

I just love and enjoy the food in HK and find the food there are the best of the best..so these are some of my experience in HK to share with all of you.

Oh ... no ... actually HKD 500 is for a per day (half for lunch and half for dinner, that sort of thing).

Anyway, you do have a great list for food .. really appreciate your suggestions here. As I'm going on a "Free & Easy" tour, so it gives us more flexibility in what we want to see, where we want to go and the time is within our control.

Thanks northasian smile.gif
