FOOD
DIM SUM Dim sum is a must for everyone in HK..I went to Tao Heung for Dim sum and it tasted superb! Really miss it so much!! NOODLES NGAU LAM MIEN - I went to Tsui Wah in Central for ngau lam mien on the first day when i arrived..Usually i dun eat beef coz it has a very strange smell...however, i decided to try on it since many people say ngau lam mien tastes very good..so i went to try it..Surprisingly i really love it so much!! Yummy yummy! WONTON MIEN - My sis had wonton mien instead of ngau lam mien in Tsui Wah..and she said it was so so tasty..In the wonton mien has 8 big big wontons wrap with big shrimps..can't get in malaysia tho.. SINGAPORE FRIED NOODLES (Sing chow mai fun) - Tried this in Peak Cafe in Lan Kwai Fong..It taste very nice and hot..However its kinda expensive.. RICE PINEAPPLE RICE + TOMYUM SOUP + GREEN CURRY - These are thai food that i tried in a Thai restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong..Forgotten the name of the shop..but the pineapple rice and tom yum soup was so so so good..the green curry was so so but can still be counted as ok.. JAPANESE BEEF and CHICKEN CHOP RICE - I went to lady's street with my sis and cousin in mongkok on thursday to shop and get some souvenirs..however we got so hungry and we just popped in a japanese restaurant to have dinner..so i tried this japanese beef rice..It's kinda nice to eat and tasty..It's located just besides the stalls in Lady's street which i forgotten what name it was as there are many japanese restaurants there.. VEGE RICE - Known as Choi Fun..It is the best Choi Fun that i have ever tasted..The restaurant is called Hang Fa Lau located in Central..I miss choi fun very much CONGEE The congee in HK is superb..I went to Chi Gei in causeway bay and tried 2 different kind of congee..one is Gap Dai Zhuk and another one is Pei Dan Shau Yuk Zhuk..Both of em taste as yummy as ever coz the congee is very smooth...mmmmmm SNACKS XO Cheung Fun in Hang Fa Lau is the best cheong fun ever..Usually i dun eat much cheong Fun but i dunno why come to the XO cheung Fun in Hang Fa Lau just taste very nice and spicy..you all should try it Salt and Pepper Squids in Peak Cafe located in Lan Kwai Fong is just the best squids i ever ate...it was rather full after having these squids as snacks..however the price are kinda pricey tho..but tourist should just give it a try! Yau Choi Sum / Yau Gai Lan - this vege dish is everyone's favorite...u cant miss it when u enter a restaurant as most of the customers will order a plate to eat..the vegetables are just so fresh and crunchy..Those vege lovers just dont miss it! Curry Fish Balls - I have tried the curry fish balls in causeway bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok. The most spicy of all is in Tsim Sha Tsui (ate until tears and sweat rolling down) and the least spicy is in causeway Bay..These stalls sell many of those snacks..you guys should try it..I wanted to try the smelly Tofu but my cousin and sis said if i eat it then dun go near them..so i didn't get to try it tho Fried Wonton - Those fried wonton u can get it in any cha charn teng..they taste so good and crispy..there are big shrimps in everyone of them..yummy DESSERT HUI LAU SHAN - the best of the best dessert shop alive in Hong Kong..many locals love eating there too..the mangoes dessert just taste so so so so sweet and refreshing!! Those going to HK must not miss this place!! Its everywhere in HK HANG FA LAU - Tried the zhi ma hu and zhi ma hu tong yuen..It tastes not bad and i prefer zhi ma hu tong yuen..hehe.. Any Cha Charn Teng in HK - Try their Dung Lai Cha coz it is very nice..It's just like Teh Tarik Bing in Malaysia..haha PLACES OF ATTRACTIONS Avenue of Stars - I visited Avenue of Stars in the day and in the night..however, In the night the scenery is better as there are nice lightings of the buildings in HK. Victoria Peak - Went up to Victoria Peak and headed into Madamme Tussauds..its quite worth the ticket money we paid..very nice wax people in it..too bad i cant see the whole HK in Victoria Peak coz it rains in the evening.. Ocean Park - Didnt manage to go to Ocean Park coz it was drizzling..however, i heard many ppl said that Ocean Park is better than Disneyland. Lady's Street mongkok- a very reasonably cheap place to get souvenirs and stuff..Is a must go for tourist..Rmb do not get slaughter by them! Bargain to get reasonable price Stanley Market - The souvenirs selling here are more expensive than Ladies Street in Mongkok. However it has nice scenery with nice bay Lan Kwai Fong is a must to go! It is a very nice ambience and many good looking white guys and white girls having drinks there..Anyway, i have celebrated Halloween in LKF..but it was so crowded so i just went one round and then headed to Krispy Kreme for some doughnuts..haha SHOPPING All shopping malls in HK are very nice and presentable. I have been to: PACIFIC PLACE in admiralty - very high end products sold here. HARBOUR CITY in Tsim Sha Tsui. Lee Theatre in Causeway Bay. Time Square in Causeway Bay. and few other shopping malls forgotten the name BOSSINI, GIORDANO and H&M - These are located mostly everywhere but i went to the ones in Central..The clothes there are nice but now mostly selling winter clothings..These shops sell all the youngsters and trendy clothing..nice to take a look around.. FAMOUS PPL Saw Moses Chan twice and Bernice Liu once during my trip in HK. First time was in Victoria Park, Causeway Bay where moses and some other tvb artistes having a charity function representing The Ultimate Crime Fighter series. Second time was in opening ceremony of UNIQLO where Moses and Bernice are invited to the opening ceremony. WEATHER The weather in HongKong is just so so cooling and nice during Oct to Nov. When i was there the temperature was just 17-23 degree celcius..So its way better than the humid weather in Malaysia.. I just love and enjoy the food in HK and find the food there are the best of the best..so these are some of my experience in HK to share with all of you. QUOTE(mushkins @ Dec 11 2008, 06:39 PM) food prices not bad la i feel... reading this thread, i noted the estimated price for a full meal is abt HKD50.. but when i went there, was pleased to find that most meals were like HKD30-35.. like those rice + meat kind.. and portions are huge! QUOTE(stimix @ Dec 11 2008, 09:50 PM) I Think so too...I was shock actually to see the prices of food at Mongkok no change or even lower than the prices during my 1st visit in 1995! Imagine getting at HK$15 wanton mee compare to HK20 in 1995 wow good to hear that..hehehe...I know the economy no good...but tat day someone told me that the prices have gone up..so just asking around here.. QUOTE Hi BiteZ, No, you cannot do in-town check-in for AirAsia flights. You must check in at HKIA and I guess they will only open their counter 2-3 hours before departure time... Cheers~ Awwww.....like that I think I have no choice but to check-in in HKIA then...thanks a lot Northasian This post has been edited by BiteZ: Jan 3 2009, 03:37 PM |
