Myself i got it nearly 500mbps and wasn't even full strength signal. I believed when it was below 100mbps, it was running witn only LTE band 28.
*
5G and 4G is the same and unlike fiber, it's not going to be full speed all the time
it depends on traffic
i also sometimes will go 40-50Mbps...sometimes 200-300Mbps...depending on time of day and traffic
and sometimes the speed test lied, the more reliable way to test speed is by downloading something...either by using test file or just download something u want

because sometimes my speed test is 40-50Mbps but download is 30MBPS...sometime it is true, it will stuck at 5MBPS

QUOTE(ameyhazuan @ Apr 21 2024, 02:19 AM)
i beg to differ. Yes i can agree that wireless broadband not as stable as fiber broadband. But due to our  5G infrastructure currently use in Malaysia, we can't go 5G without LTE B28 and it's on NSA mode. Limitation for single band LTE would be 150mbps. As I observed B28 on LTE modem, it matched the speed of 5G modem when it slowed down. DNB guaranteed the minimum speed  of 5G in Malaysia will be 100mbps. I believe it was because of B28 LTE. Should we go SA mode, we no longer need B28 and we should start to use N28 with N78. CA would be possible.
*
never ever rely on 4G/LTE
our 4G is way too congested...like in my place, if my line drops to 4G...it's completely unusable

our 4G has been congested for way too long which is why we wanna push 5G to ease that congestion

This is my problem as well when I tested between the ZTE and TP Link and on the TP Link, I can even hit 650Mbps... Unfortunately, I had to return it back to my office, but it tells the tale of different modems used.
*
it's not the modem, it's the chipset inside
any phone or router that uses qualcomm chip will always be more superior in pulling 5G signal and speed

Man never knew the model supplied by uMobile for their 5G plans would be such problematic modem. The one unifi providing for their customers using a legit 5G chipset from qualcomm. Never encounter any issues in terms of overheating with the model so far. At least they dont supply rubbish router like what they are doing for fiber users.
*
Of course look at the price difference laugh.gif

But if I wanna subscribe unifi air 5G...the difference in price, I might as well buy my own router

I think I will submit a report for MCMC already, cause previously on a good day with 888S I can get 2XX Mbps, lately its just wood speed.
*
please do....these few weeks, malaysian international traffic speed has been affected
and it doesn't matter you're on fiber or telco line....all are affected
especially at night after 8PM, almost everyone will tell you they can feel a slow down in loading anything...pictures, GIFs or video(that's not youtube)

QUOTE(immobile @ May 6 2024, 12:08 AM)
hi sifus, could anyone advised what went wrong.

i am currently living in a 2 storey terrace house. Just bought TP Link X50 - 5G (U Home 5G plan). TP Link X50 is placed in my room 2nd floor, averaging speeds are around 650mpbs to 800mpbs ++.

however, 1st floor speeds are averaging between 20 to 30mpbs only. Likewise, i am using 4 mesh in total: 1 TP Link X50 - 5G and 3 Deco E4 mesh(1 situated in 2nd floor living hall and the other 2 mesh situated at 1st floor) could any sifus advise any solutions....so much difference in speeds across both floors tqtq
*
the speed you're referring is telco speed or WIFI speed?

wifi speed

if wifi speed thn 2 solutions

1. wired wifi repeater that guarantee speed due to the cable
2. if can opt between 2.4ghz and 5ghz...always opt for 2.4ghz because 2.4ghz goes through wall better....5ghz is better speed but they don't do walls very good

QUOTE(MakeYouHappy @ May 7 2024, 11:49 AM)
Hi all, I am interested to sign up for U Home 5G. But I need some advices on this plan.

1) Is torrenting possible? Or U Mobile straight up prohibits that?
most ISP and telco bans torrent, only few lucky let you use it...gave up torrenting many years ago
2) Is the free 5G modem provided constantly below 100mbps speed? Any other issues with the modem?
buy a sim card and do test speed at your area/the area you're gonna be using it at
3) Has anyone exceeded the monthly FUP? If yes, is the speed still usable after exceeded FUP?
not sure how someone can exceed using 999GB
4) Does termination within contract period need to pay the remaining months as penalty fee?
there is a penalty but i'm not sure how much
5) Can I insert other Telco 5G sim card into their modem?
telco lock
6) I would still be able to take out the sim card and use it on my phone right?
yes, u can use it anywhere u like if you're not at home
Thanks in advance to all the angels who are willing to answer my questions. Cheers!

Can i purchase the umobile simcard from 7E and buy the uhome 5G package?

when i register mine at the center, staffs answer is no
because it doesn't fall under the same category and thus not the same sim card

when u register at the center, they'll give u a brand new card instead

Email already registered.
The SIM was already active, i used it on my phone for hotspot, no problem.
After a week or so then i decided to get the modem. So the problem is from the modem, not SIM card
*
login into the modem/router
check the APN settings

Already did that, its say SIM not detected, i inserted the SIM correctly, there's only 1 way to insert the SIM card into the modem.

I went back to the U-Mobile booth and ask them to use another SIM to try, same issue. Most likely it's modem issue
*
high chance the sim slot is faulty at this point

2 reasons

1. consistent promised speed
2. latency(for gaming)

this 2 4G or 5G also cannot give anyone

Do you really get good ping with gaming though? My son said his Roblox is less laggy now with 5G

Yes...speed test will reveal that part
Anything cable is more consistent
Speed alone 5G sometimes 300Mbps, sometimes 50Mbps
Same goes with ping

Surf web alone with both already feel the difference

nah... been using 5G for months... this is not 4G... speed exceed 300mbps most of the time even on bad days...

it means your area very less people use 5G
my place here fluctuate depending time of the day
surfing the same website can be inconsistent throughout the day too compared to fiber
ping wise also cannot win fiber
there's a reason fiber still exist

QUOTE(year2020 @ May 19 2024, 11:23 AM)
Just got the UM68 plan with router. I took the ZTE C888S router.

However the speed I'm getting is only about 50mbps. This is after I connect to 5GHz wifi. If connect to 2.4GHz I will only get 25mbps.

I check from cellmapper, there are 2 towers start with 703 within 500m to my house. There are no building in between, the first tower is on private hospital and the second tower is on indoor swimming pool. I'm on fifth floor and my building is the tallest. No other building blocking the path.

What else can i do? I don't expect to get 300mbps but I read 5G DNB should be minimum 100mbps.

I tried locking 4G band 28, but no difference. In fact download suffers and drop to 20mbps.

Appreciate any pointers.
*
few things u can do
1. try switch position of the router, upside down etc
2. switch place of the router(if it's possible)
3. wait it out, give it a few days.....i personally getting different speed at different time of the day(don't ask me to explain how this happen)
but sometime i would get 50Mbps, sometime 300-400Mbps, sometime in between

and what kind of speed is your phone getting? and your phone is running on what chipset?

- Connection frequent disconnect.

i don't suffer these problem at all...never has the modem self reboot until now
and i'm the one that update the modem's firmware before

signal maintaining at 3 bar...speed really varies throughout the day

tried downloaded the 13GB file from MY server - success. finished within 15-20 minutes or so. best download rate at 4MB/s. average around 3.8MB/s

however, the 100GB overseas server, that one estimated to finish around 11 hours , running at 500kB/s at best.
cancelled downloading after reaching 5.5GB after 30minutes.  sweat.gif

but i did try open running Youtube, run speedtest and surf /k at the same time. No auto reboot so far  icon_rolleyes.gif

maybe Umobile has upgraded or did repairs at the nearby 5G tower, who knows?

running uptime is now at impressive 42 hours.

not bad ZTE MC888s.
*
that link is actually not a good benchmark for overseas server
try this instead : https://www.thinkbroadband.com/download

now the download will take like 2 days @ 32kB/s to finish LOL.

Btw, i realized that umobile at my parents' house in Klang is now only at 4G+, after i checked inside router status.
You guys can get 5G connection as per normal tonight?

baru ingat nak praise Umobile. Cheh!  rclxub.gif  doh.gif

i'm now replying u because i'm on 5G
if i'm not on 5G, i can't reply anyone because my place's 4G is almost non-existence
but overall malaysia's line at night is not as good as morning...doesn't matter fiber/telco

try again in the morning laugh.gif
