QUOTE(JLA @ Jan 23 2025, 11:07 AM)
huawei modem always using HiSilicon hilink soc

Huawei's HiSilicon is by far the largest chip company in China, rapidly climbing the world rankings. So it's no surprise they are alongside Qualcomm as the first two to volume production of 5G chips
Huawei is the company with Most 5G Patents
the reason huawei got banned
the reason dnb 1 using Ericsson
*
i don't do volume at all...samsung has the volume too but u just don't see many manufacturers use them because they're basically garbage
it's actually how it's manufacturer that determine how good is it
if the huawei chip is really that good, other routers would've used them....why bother with qualcomm and/or mediatek if it's really that superior

i think only real life test can determine how good they are in pulling 5G signals...but i can't deny their 4G router counterpart is called the king of 4G for a reason

Huawei doesn't sell Kirin and balong to other manufacturers

Dosent matter because qualcomm and whatever pay Huawei 5G patent licensing agreement
*
kirin i don't know but there are routers out there using balong chipset(not huawei router)

Can anyone tell me if uhome 5g is suitable for online MMO gaming ,very ping intensive due to boss raids .
*
Ping wise it's way better than 4G...it also depends on the signal you can get inside your house or room as well

But nothing will beat the ping of a wired fiber optic
Speed and ping is guaranteed and constant

Does anyone have any evidence that umobile will unlock their 5G modem after contract? When I registered last year, I was informed it will be unlocked, today when I went there to enquire again, I was told there was no such thing.
*
whichever staff told you that should be fired

if the router is to be unlocked, the whole firmware inside would need to be flashed to their common edition
the firmware that u get from umobile router is designed specifically for umobile...you can see it from the firmware's version code/number

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding between you both. Telco provided router will be locked to their respective network. It has been the case since forever regardless of telco.

Most possibly he/she was referring to the contract and the router locked for 24months which become unlocked after 24 months.
*
there are no misunderstanding here between us both

the one misunderstanding here is the staff in question...the router is locked and will forever be locked to umobile...even after 24 month

the only thing is the router will become the current user's ...not the telco's anymore

Does U Home 5G have access to the ULTRA 5G network, and if so, does it have access to 5G SA and 5G Advanced (not sure which is the better mode)

On the landing page, it doesn't mention about ULTRA 5G coverage

https://www.u.com.my/en/personal/broadband/wireless
*
Yes, it can access ultra 5G

I thought umobile ultra 5G is 5G SA..never heard of 5G advance
