Actually in Malaysia engineer with 10 years experience to get RM22k nett, gross needs to be RM30k+ which is challenging to achieve.

Anyone here managed to achieve RM30k+ gross salary with 10 years experience? I want to apply to your company 😄.

Well, it is still decent.. hence as i said if single no brainer.. but if you have working wife and kids.. and wife has to give up career to go with you.. then it may not make sense.

Also if u compare net, you have to take into account of 12%+ epf contribution.. depending on compang.. it will still less than Middle east.

Lastly, higher expense in middle east too.. a nice meal would cost qar50 easily..

Impossible by my count.. One colleague that has now left M*C Oil and Gas Engineering, was making ard 6-7 k / per month around 10 years of experience...


Senior Engineer...

I was earning about RM8k as a senior engineer working in one of oil and gas consultant company, many moons ago.

In general, we all agree engineers arent paid much in Msia.. even news has it frequently.

Running business is far more lucratice regardless of type..

Not to worry .. As long as there are more engineering companies / Operators coming in Malaysia offering better salaries, the one that benefits are the engineers themselves.. Unless stuck in comfort zone and don't want to move out..

I was contacted by an external recruiter for an open position at PTTEP. One of the questions they asked was whether I had submitted my CV directly on the PTTEP website. I confirmed that I had submitted it within this year.

The external recruiter then informed me that they could'nt proceed with my CV because most clients have conditions that if the candidate has submitted CV directly, then external recruiter should not proceed with it, this to avoid duplication and conflicts of interest.

So, if any of you are interested in applying to PTTEP, take note. Based on my experience, it is better to reach out to an external recruiter compared to an internal one. Internal recruiters are usually not as aggressive in reaching out to candidates.

The cooling period is 1 year though.

From what I heard, P already submitted both technical & commercial, but S only submitted technical, commercial not yet.

Another thing..no such thing in official bid submission as only one bidder submitted. There would be deadline and both need to submit on time of request for extension before the deadline..

If one don't submit would be considered as DQ

Not sure about cooling period.. but i submitted dozen application thru various recruiter for at least 4-5 different roles.

Evemtually got a call like nearly a year since i 1st submitted CV but different role.

From experience can't be single bidder...would be re-bidding exercise
