QUOTE(vincent09 @ Jan 26 2008, 09:15 AM) Can anyone give some suggestion about how to hanging the drinking botter in PVC storage? Just to let you knowI'm using a bowl to put water for my Bo Chai, sometime is hard to check did Bo Chai drink water or not. Drinking from a bottle is not a natural drinking position for them and hedgehogs necks are not able to bend the way a rodents does. Therefore drinking from a bottle is not only un-natural for them but also uncomfortable. Because of the position hedgehogs tend to bite at the spout more, trying to get the water faster and if a hedgehog chips a tooth on the bottle the tooth does not grow back. I'd keep him on the bowl, it is easier for him and he will drink more water from a bowl than a bottle. Also since you noticed recently his urine is more yellow, now is probably not a good time to try a bottle Edit: If you really want to try a bottle remember not to remove the bowl yet, keep both in there and see which he prefers to use. @Cimredopyh : sure ar? I mean, since I got Ken I'm using the bottle as for his drink... and I think he drinks a lot as I can see the reducing water as I check on him.. xD also I like when he's drinking esp. when he's lazy. on lazy mood he'll just put both his leg lazyly on the cage's floor and only higher his face to drink... he can stay quit long with that pose! lol
btw.. normally hedgie's urine is yellow color rite? @.@ |

Yep 100% sure, you can do a search about it for yourself
The bottle VS bowl issue comes up very often. Bowls are always better You can try it for yourself actually, put both a bowl and a bottle in there, nearly always they will end up using the bowl more about hedgehogs being unable to arch their spines in a U shape comfortably im also 100% sure Its actually also one of the reasons they need a 10-12 inch wheel because if the wheel is too small they will develop spine problems from constantly having to arch to run in the small curve Edit: some links about it http://hedgehogcentral.com/forum/index.php...=bottle,or,bowl http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/showt...tle+bowl&page=2 This post has been edited by Cimredopyh: Jan 29 2008, 02:03 AM |

Some do, some don't. Some mites are specie specific, means they only stay on hosts of the same species, but like mange mites, some are not and hedgehogs can contract mange fairly easily when exposed to an infected individual. Mange mites can infest any animal, including us.

It may be mites, it may be the bedding, dunno if you don't check it. Try to bring to the vet and see.
What do you mean by normal mites? It depends on the type of mites. Got no such thing is normal mites, not normal mites etc. |

Bald spot is not the only symptom of mites ......no bald spots does not mean no mites. Dry flakes at the base of the quills (like dandruff) is one of the symptoms. Also does he scratch quite often? Like Reanne said it could be dry skin or it could be mites However rather than experiment with cures for dry skin its better to take him to the vet and find out once and for all if its mites or not, Dont wait till the poor thing starts balding You dont need a vet thats pro at hedgehogs to treat mites, any vet can treat it. Just remember to let him know to apply one drop of kitten dose Revoloution behind each ear and NEVER inject with Invermectin Btw if it is mites you need to do more than just treat the hedgehog, you also need to wash and disinfect the cage and everything in it, and make sure the unused bedding thats still in the packet is also mite free. If its dry skin try oatmeal baths, and also avoid overbathing QUOTE Ohh, I see... So the normal mites won't affect human lar? I think you misunderstood lah What shes trying to tell you is that there is no more common or less common type. Maybe it will affect you and your other pets and maybe it wont. She never said that the type that wont affect you and your other pets is more common or normal This post has been edited by Cimredopyh: Jan 30 2008, 10:21 PM |
