He's chinese and has been there for a very long time. More experienced with exotics than most vets we know and studied overseas. So he's a better bet than most.

Try picking him up by putting one hand on each side of him and slowly bringing ur hands together (like your trying to scoop up water), eventually he will step up on your hands then u can pick him up, carefull not to terkepit his legs tho but if you do it slowly shouldnt be a problem

Em guys, just now i clean Bo Chai cage and try take Bo Chai have a look, those blood that it on his body all gone.... become white white flur there, the scratch already dry, like our human like that. Is it still need to take to Dr Yeoh? Bo Chai run as normally there ( just now need to chase him.... )

Maybe today i stop bath him ( today is his bathing time ), just see how is going on. OK ?

Monitor him. You let him walk and see how he walk... if got limp, then you need to check carefully, if fracture then sure need a vet liao.

Hedgehogs can sometimes hurt themselves.... climbing and falling.... I don't think it's the wheel if it has no sharp ages.... Maybe housing also can cause. Personally, after keeping hedgehogs for about 2 years, I really have never experience any serious injuries nor visited a vet for my hedgehogs too. One of my hedgehogs fell at 4ft and he was ok.... but of course I checked him carefully la.

If your sure its just a flesh wound and hes acting normally then probably there is no need to take him to the vet, however he may have some injury inside to the muscle/bone etc depending on how he managed to get that scratch, just keep a close eye on him and how hes moving around if you decide not to take him
what kind of wheel are you using btw?

Just now i put my hand inside the storage cage, he just run and chase on my hand, run like normal like that. Didn't c any limp, run very smooth.

I'm using the 12" big wheel there, just now i notice the wheel got the plastic cutting area like cutting gundam model area without sanding, but that area also hard to hurt hedgehog, but i already sanding it become smooth.

Housing also no problem to hurt Bo Chai, because i give him a huge pipe for his sleeping place..... now still wonder how he get the scratch...
For what i think now is that wheel plastic cutting area.

Oh yea 1 more thing is.... he clean the blood on his flur by himself, today i stop bath for him, scare the scratch will bleeding again.

Animals self clean their wounds.... LOL.... not every wound you must bath it. How often you bath your hedgehog? I only do it like once in 2 or 3 weeks. I feel once a week too much hahahah.

i do it once a week, bathing + cleaning cage + change bedding at same day. I check inside the cage, nothing sharp thing on there. Yesterday when i saw it... very horry 1, i thought Bo Chai eat something else and bleeding there, when i check carefully, many blood on his bottom body but already start dry ( very pure red color ) besides that, wheel, bedding sleeping place also got some blood there... But i can't find out which area is make him get scratch ( according the blood area inside the cage )

Does hedgehog bite himself until bleeding ? Now afternoon i take out the wheel first, let him have some space to rest, at night i put it back c how is going on.

Dont think they will bite themselves till they bleed, ?_?

on a side note my baby hog seems to have taught himself to use the litter pan i provided for him @_@
i knew they can be trained to do this but i didnt expect him to do it straight away!
hes been pooping in the pan since i got him 2 days ago
last night i moved it to another corner (tangan gatal)
and when i woke up this morning all the poop was in the original corner where the pan was before i moved it ><
he had even dragged the paper towel i line the pan with to cover his poop
so cute...of course i moved the pan back...i shouldnt have moved it elsewhere in the first place *smacks forehead*

^mine... keep on sleeping since I got him 2 days ago.... T.T
not yet potty-trained him, but was thinking to provide small towel and turn it become a nice bed for him to sleep... hehe

He likes to play behind my feet and climb it but then cannot climb...
was thinking to move him to my room end of this month.. to take him away from my "naughty" housmate...
always asked me to take him out n just now when she knows i played with him without calling her, she dash down n open the cage which made lil Ken so scared and she keep on put her hand to him... unfortunately he din even want to sniff her hand! lol then I asked her to stop disturb him but she dun want to listen which made me had to watch her more than i have to watched over my ken.. T.T

u lansi with her la, your ken ken only tame with you ma, usually most hedgie only bond with their owner, they a bit cautious wif other people, if your fren so tangan gatal ask her buy one herself la, dun disturb your ken ken

now can run ed when i took him out from the cage.... eat n drink a lot too!
she... likes to disturb but scared to touch him... lol

Hmm nowadays start look at my Bo Chai is it the scratch got open back and bleeding or not, but lucky is no more already. Is it ok give a bath for next week? or give him more time to recover ?
