QPR is the android update that is in beta testing. If in schedule, it should be released in December together with 'feature drops'

QPR is the Quarterly Platform Release by Google as a beta ver of the sw .. you need to enroll as the beta tester
DNB is MY 5G infra provider

VoLTE, VoWiFi and 5G is telco enable setting eventhough the phone support it, it has to be enable by the country telcos. In MY, Usually telco will have a whitelist of phones that pass the SIRIM cert. This is what i know lah sweat.gif

If phone not in the list, to enable the above need root and enable the features via other app or mods

Most likely able to secure units from SG.

The non-volte and non-5G confirmed? If confirmed, I won't even consider. Will not root or jailbreak the phone in any way.

based on the google issue tracker, it looks like volte is supported --> https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/246168380#comment13

as for the 5G, Malaysia is not listed on google site and it is really up to the telco to support it --> https://pixel.withgoogle.com/5G/?visit_id=6...etworkinfo&rd=1

Just my 2 cents ...

the first link is about supporting VoLTE. Based on comment #13,

"We support VoLTE for Celcom/Digi/Maxis(Malaysian Networks) on Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a."

I would deduce that google has done some paperwork / agreement with the local telco (again, I am not sure of what is the process of getting VoLTE support). The fact that it supports VoLTE is a plus for pixel users.

the second link is about 5G support (which is not the same as VoLTE). Who knows when or will pixel have 5G in Malaysia.

Again, all this is merely deduction till someone gets a pixel 7 phone and use in Malaysia. smile.gif

well explained ... but i think it will go back to the telco and DNB whistling.gif

as of now if u are on any official rom it wont have VoLTE enabled but then if u root and do the VoLTE module or xml mod you can enable the feature, means it is there but just local telco dont permit it sweat.gif
As for the QPR it has been enable most likely google force it to be enable at software side.

5G just finger cross for now for official rom but can enable also via app mod

Malaysian YouTuber unboxing (https://youtu.be/vrTRLpvsZxU)

If you looked at the comments, there were some on VoLTE availability and 5G support.

But for me, 5G support is not really a dealbreaker, cause I don't see the real world usage for it (don't really download or upload huge stuff over mobile). Also 5G tends to drain more battery.

Yea while some does want it, on normal days, I can get around 50mbps+ just fine on 4G, and since I don't do any heavy use, that's more than enough for me. Volte is absolutely necessary though, due to my line of work. And I do take a lot of photos of my kids nowdays, having a Pixel camera would be nice - my prev 4A works fine, but I needed volte and bigger screen ( getting old cant see lol)

Might get my self a 7 by early next year, if the Dec patch supports the big 3 telco volte.

Edit : Err just read about Pixel 7 only runs 64bit apps, isn't that... trouble? I admit I have no idea on this

Was contemplating on pixel 7 pro (sg set)... however, the potential of no volte support (Digi network) made me resolved to not get it.

I am aware that there are workaround, but it's too much of a hassle and unfortunately my area needs volte to receive calls indoor.

Sigh, would love to experience the magic of google AI but volte support supercede it. tongue.gif

Hi Spayre,

Is the issue of No VoLTE support only exclusive to the SG sets? I am not sure how true it is but we are already seeing a few
early purchasers of the US sets confirming VoLTE working on their sets via one of big telcos here. Being based in JB, getting
an SG set is the easiest option for me but I am waiting till year end - early next year to let Google and the early adopters to
work out the kinks ...

Cheers,
V

Hi V,

As I am aware, certain pixel models does not support VoLTE in Malaysia, regardless of it origin (US set, SG set). Not to sure why, but high chances is due that pixel is not officially sold in Malaysia, therefore lack of VoLTE support.

However, based on google forum (check my previous post), it is said that pixel 6 and 7 supports VoLTE in Malaysia.

I noticed at least 3 Malaysian Youtuber have posted their unboxing of pixel 7 pro today, so maybe there will be a full review after a couple of days. And we will know whether it supports VoLTE in Malaysia. smile.gif

Exactly, bro. Currently using the Pixel 3 XL (had the OG Pixel XL before plus a slew of Nexus devices before that) and the only way to get
VoLTE is to root which was also the case with the Pixel 6 series in the earlier stages. Google typically does not allow for VoLTE and even
5G activation for their sets being used with SIM cards of countries where the Pixels are not officially sold.

This applies to pretty much everything from the OG Pixel right up to the Pixel 6 series until this announcement in your post. Personally it
was a dumb move from Google when they have always marketed the Pixel range as a phone for Google enthusiasts from day one. There
has been enough rants, rage and complaints on their forum for so long and I am surprised to see they are fixing this issue especially for
a relatively small market like Malaysia. I waited for ages to replace my Pixel 3XL so I don't mind waiting for a couple of months more for
the Pixel 7 to mature as a product.

Cheers,
V.
