Was contemplating on pixel 7 pro (sg set)... however, the potential of no volte support (Digi network) made me resolved to not get it.

I am aware that there are workaround, but it's too much of a hassle and unfortunately my area needs volte to receive calls indoor.

Sigh, would love to experience the magic of google AI but volte support supercede it.

The feature may be added into the official one... But it's still depended on Telco providers to support it right? Since pixel is never officially released in Malaysia then it would need a lot of testing across the Malaysia Telco (Digi, Maxis, etc)

Cause previously I was using an Android phone that officially supported volte (used some dialer code to verify) but wasn't on Digi supported list. As a result, no volte and caused a lot of frustration.

the first link is about supporting VoLTE. Based on comment #13,

"We support VoLTE for Celcom/Digi/Maxis(Malaysian Networks) on Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a."

I would deduce that google has done some paperwork / agreement with the local telco (again, I am not sure of what is the process of getting VoLTE support). The fact that it supports VoLTE is a plus for pixel users.

the second link is about 5G support (which is not the same as VoLTE). Who knows when or will pixel have 5G in Malaysia.


Again, all this is merely deduction till someone gets a pixel 7 phone and use in Malaysia.

If you looked at the comments, there were some on VoLTE availability and 5G support.

But for me, 5G support is not really a dealbreaker, cause I don't see the real world usage for it (don't really download or upload huge stuff over mobile). Also 5G tends to drain more battery.

As I am aware, certain pixel models does not support VoLTE in Malaysia, regardless of it origin (US set, SG set). Not to sure why, but high chances is due that pixel is not officially sold in Malaysia, therefore lack of VoLTE support.

However, based on google forum (check my previous post), it is said that pixel 6 and 7 supports VoLTE in Malaysia.

I noticed at least 3 Malaysian Youtuber have posted their unboxing of pixel 7 pro today, so maybe there will be a full review after a couple of days. And we will know whether it supports VoLTE in Malaysia.

The Google Play Store has required all apps to have 64-bit support since August 2019, and it also stopped serving 32-bit apps without 64-bit support.

You won’t easily find a 32-bit app these days. We can think of just one 32-bit-only app: Flappy Bird, which was a fad for a short period of time.

Hmm... since it is an unboxing video and it really showing him migrating from another phone to pixel, I would say that this is a stock android.
