Sharing my experience renewing passport at UTC Pudu (KL) 2024

1. Submitted renew + pay online 28 May 2am
2. Received pending status due to FOTO TIDAK MEMUASKAN DAN CAP JARI TIDAK SAH at 28 May 10am
3. Did nothing, but print payment receipt and visit UTC Pudu at 3pm, direct get queue number at counter 1
4. Waited 15mins, register thumbprint and take photo on the spot (yeah no need to resubmit photo to the lousy website), finished in 5mins
5. Waited another 30mins, collect passport

Easy 🙂🙂🙂

Hi there, is new IC mandatory for passport renewal ?

For record my latest renewal passport journey.

Applied online on 27 May night, received email on 29 May rejected photo and thumbprint.

Went to UTC Selangor on 1 June and reached at 8am. Received number 60 in queue. Went out for breakfast and walk around iCentral. Went back UTC Selangor at 11.30am.

Called to counter at 12.30pm.

Collected passport on 1.30pm same day on 1 June.

What happened to your new IC?

Guys, senior citizen walk in renew passport.

1. Need to que and take number?

2. Since no accept cash, what are the payments options available? Wise? Tng ewallet?

3. Photo take on the spot?

Advise you do it online easier and better, then set date/location to pick up..Take photo first Renew fee RM100/5 years

last time i myself renew online, yes, take photo and submit.
last last when go collect finger print problem, submitted photo cannot pass

When was last time? 5 years ago? Try again no harm trying, if cannot then only you book number online.. finger print problem due to IC condition, submit photo cannot pass means you did not upload it correctly

I saw a few posts saying "New" IC are the ones with the hologram background. Mine doesn't have this.

Why not just walk in, take photo and collect on the spot?

Yes, IC needs to be the new one with hologram photo in the middle for passport renewal.
Speaking from experience as I applied passport online and they refused to process until I get a new IC.

Shaftbury Putrajaya, they only do online passport application. So its very fast !
All done within 1 hour (I had thumbprint problem; so took thumbprint and got passport all in 1 hour).

Last week Wednesday went Kajang branch to do the following:
1. 2 kids passport below 18years old.
2. Online renewal

Arrive 715am. Office door open 8am. Finish collect passport 11am. Overall experience with Kajang branch very pleasant as the staff are very friendly as well

When you say they refused to process it - the online system did not process it or they did not release the passport when you went to collect using your old IC ?

they did not release the passport when I went to collect it. Had to go change to the new IC first.
