I saw the U7H at HN, 1U.
It looks good actually. Just wondering what do I lose out if I use my google chromecast with the TV as I rather run Google TV. Would HDR like Dolby Vision work normally with netflix, etc ?
If the Android box is Widevine Level 1 (L1) device and has Dolby Vision, DV content played from the device will be streamed to the U7H as DV content. So Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar and Apple TV+ will stream DV content and the TV recognizing them.
Here's what I've learned:
DV content when played using an Android box will exhibit posterization. Using HDMI input 1) regardless if it's HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 port, 2) with Enhanced option enable, which you must turn on to view 4K content, content from those 4 streaming service will show banding in scenes with gradient objects like clouds, sky, walls.
Using my Tivo Stream 4K and FireStick 4K Max, DV content is problematic. Using Netflix, Prime Video and Apple TV+ app within VIDAA however, exhibit no posterization of the same content.
This is also true when I tried it on a Sony X90J; the X90J also needs to have its HDMI ports to be Enhanced enabled. This is where the Disney+ Hotstar stats feature come in handy. Using the stats feature, you can see if the content is being displayed in 4K DV and eAC3, or not. Posterization does not appear in 1080p DV content, at least on D+.
What's weird is that DV files played using Kodi works well.

This is Kodi running on TS4K and FS4KMax.
The built-in media player on the U7H also plays DV content without posterization. It has it's own issues though. 1) It'll only recognize files shared in Windows and your router's USB port, but not in Linux. 2) Content that is in anamorphic is not shown correctly.
So hopefully Hisense will update VIDAA to include Disney+ Hotstar, fix Dolby Vision via the HDMI ports, and fix the Media Player.
