Thank you for the suggestion. Just now I’m going to workshop and the mechanic suggest Bridgestone ER33 for rm380, is it good bargain compare to Goodyear?

To be honest, never heard about Bridgestone ER33 before 🤣

Is there any recommended tyre vendors in Penang who are on lazada/shopee? Planning to purchase online using 0% installment and install in seller's workshop.
Normally tyre shop take credit card payment with additional 3% markup due to bank charge.

Thanks

Tell you really, you might think buying online can save on the tires.
But when u want to install, tire shop will charge higher in other way like balancing, workmanship & alignment.
Unless you got all the equipment's and can DIY than go for it, if not in the end also LPPL when you calculate overall cost.
Most Penang tire shop include all the balancing, workmanship & alignment cost into the tire cost thus you might felt expensive.
Ask the shop if they got include all these without any extra charges, if yes than it is worth paying it.

Hi, my new Alza comes with TOYO Proxes CR1 195/60R16. The rims are 6J.

1. Is it wise to upgrade to from 195 to 205?
2. If yes, do I need to maintain 60R16 or reduce to 55R16?
3. This being my primary daily to work vehicle and also long travel vehicle, is is wise to opt for Michellin Primacy 4 ST or PS4 ST

Many thanks in advance.

First of all, what do you think upgrade to wider tires is a good idea? Wider tires does not mean better performance as your ride is still a MPV.

Since your buying new Alza, changing different tire spec. can void your car warranty especially related to suspension, steering rack & if strict even gearbox. Unless you dont care about warranty please proceed.

If you got a lot of cash you want to buy Michelin Primacy 4, just go for it. Personally i will look into the car, driver requirement and budget. Nowadays i recommend by comparing value:performance ratio tires from middle range brand like Falken/Hankook. Goodyear also getting more and more better in term of performance nowadays.

At least in my experience i didnt have to pay anything. Just showed them my purchase history in the app and they did the work. No additional charges. Klang valley shop.

If the shopee or lazada link got include the shop name/address & mentioned about free installation than good to go. KL/Selangor a lot of tire shop are very competitive in throwing price in order to hit sales target, but to drive up from Penang to KL just to change 2 or 4 pcs of tires dont think it is worth unless the tire cost can contra & save at least RM300 (to cover the expenses, fuel & toll travelling) above per change.

The reason I posted this question is because, in my previous Alza (2014 model), I was using PS3 all the way. It was superb especially on wet braking and good tyre response time. But it was very noisy. The stock tires were Silverstone 185/60R15, but I upgrade it to PS3 195/55R15. But I realised that the speedometer was inaccurate, and the side thread worn out quickly. The PS3 usually last me for +/- 45k – 50k mileage.

This time, a person asked me to try Primacy 4 ST instead of PS4 ST.

Thanks for your reply. Wonder if anyone here can recommend a good tyre shop in Penang with competitive price and okay service quality?

My ride is a 2014 Honda city running on 185/55/r16, any recommendation for decent tyre around rm240-270 each? Travel long distance on weekly basis, with around 10k mileage every 3-4 months.
Currently running on Goodyear ATM2, but feel that it is getting very noisy after 1 year (~40k km) of driving. Thread wear is about to hit the mark, thus getting ready to replace them soon.

Should I upgrade to 195/55/r16 instead of staying 185/55/r16? Ride is kinda bumpy in the rear Honda city (not sure about others, maybe it's my bad suspension) so don't wanna reduce the tyre profile.

No, if using original sport rim dont simply change tire size. Especially with a lot of safety related sensors like ABS & VSC, any different size will impact how they perform.

Honda Absorbers got 1 weakness is once reach 5 years or fetch heavy stuff a lot there is a "time bomb or bush" inside the absorbers will self destruct and cause the absorbers to jam and need to change. Ask mechanic to confirm the absorbers condition first, if yes u only got 2 choice change aftermarket replacement absorbers (usually Kayaba) or sent for custom modify to remove the bush inside. Custom modify nowadays are more expensive compare to new replacement as it will make your absorber last long (Can consider lifetime of the ride) and serviceable.

BTW, do you know tires got many category?

PS3/PS4 - UHP (Ultra High Performance)

Primacy 4 - Premium Touring (Falken ZE310/Hankook VP3 - Same Category)

Silverstone or Toyo original/cheap tires - ECO/Touring

When you understand the different tire category, each of their pro & con then go further up into sport rim offset and width, alignment/camber settings.

To change to bigger wider size without proper knowledge is just wasting your tire potential, for new ride usually i would recommend to stick to original tire size until warranty over. Upgrading to Primacy 4 would be a step up in-term of overall but dont expect performance level like PS3/PS4.

helo epjx31,
I notice a large price gap between 17 to 18 inch tyres.
Can share the reasons?
