Known Issue reported by users in other countries/regions so far

1. Blurry telephoto lens - (Reported fixed by firmware 64.0.A.5.71 [HK, TW], firmware 64.0.C.5.52 [JP Docomo])

2. Strict temperature control and locked screen refresh rate to 60hz after 38C (Reported fixed by firmware 64.0.A.5.71 [HK, TW])

3. Overheating after record long duration of 4K video 120fps

64.0.A.8.25 have fixed issue 1 & 2.. Issue 3 is not fixable in my opinion as it took too much details for 4k 120FPS.. so far i could get a 3 minutes duration of 4K 120FPS in 1 go..

not now, let's wait for xiaomi 12S Ultra 1 inch sensor and see the price 1st..they definitely gonna hv a better camera phone than sony ..

oh yea.. that one will be announced in July 4th.. quite looking forward to that as well as their implementation of 1inch sensor under smartphone.. with nearly 4k of xiaomi 12 pro currently.. i would say add 1k on top of existing lineup to make it near to 5k myr? just like oppo & vivo i guess

yea.. true statement.. now a flagship simply will price more than 1k USD easily.. back to 10 years back.. a flagship cost less than 2k myr..

Oops. Okay.. yeah microsd card slot is quite useful feature to me as I like to store my photos and videos in physical based.

To me, I prefer phone display without any hole for camera. Most phone having that now except Asus and Sony as far as I know. Secondly is about phone weight.. I felt 200g is a bit heavy for me already. There are phone with 2xx weight without case..

Anyways, everything got it's own market..

VoLTE worked with my celcom SIM (the only one).. previously enabled VoLTE thru celcom customer online service and used in previous phone.. dont see an option for VoWIFI yet.. i think not yet

just plugged in my wife hotlink postpaid it is also support VoLTE... phone setting do not contain any option for Voice over WIFI... so i assume it didnt support here.. but VoLTE.. it is.. it called as 4G Calling in setting menu..

no lag.. only complains is they took off NFC through notification shortcut option there.. but i just switched it on for 24/7.. usually i prefer it turned off so it wont simply detect nothing when close to my wallet.. i need NFC for bluetooth headset connection..

the rest of it.. looks similar as usual Xperia.. smooth 120hz display.. when watching movie/streaming youtube, auto back to 60hz.. but in most scenarios, u wont notice any slow/lag..

charging time did feel warm to hold (low % to 75%).. above 75% slower charging and cool down already..

okay.. maybe different but i got RM100 (RM50 x 2)..

Went to get back screen protector and only matte could stick on it as it is matte finish glass on the back.. I stick clear one and it is failed.. so went to shop and they put on matte finish protector and it is on. But cannot see the Sony logo anymore..

Ps: Sony style cover with stand I purchased through Taobao.. it is not provide good protection on the side but only back.. but it is practical to use as a case.. another cons is Xperia 1 IV SIM tray moved to bottom. So you can't unplug SIM tray with case on just like 1 mk iii which it's on the side..

guess their autofocus algoritms caused device temperature raised and ya.. same happened to Xperia 1 IV which Sony release few firmware update to improve it.. also, internal component do not have massive thermal heat dissipation parts to help as well.. anyways it is a smartphone that trying to mimic the prof camera system.. which their alpha camera also may have overheat issue.. =)

xperia 10 IV heard having super great battery life.. i guess 5000mAh and lower mid range processor S695.. Xperia 1 IV could last me for 1 day without any worries even i captured a lot of photos and videos + uploading video.. but i have declared i didnt use it for gaming.. that's maybe different stories.. i did a lot of youtube and netflix + chrome browsing..

every phone having high temperature except iphone 13 series (unless put stress limit on gaming).. but normal usage, dont think any kind of overheating.. xperia 1 iv received very bad feedback on overheating and in fact i dont think that's so bad as per they mentioned like cannot record more than 3 minutes of videos and camera app force closed.. so far i test 4k 30 fps with stabilization on, eyes af on and default auto.. up to 28 minutes+ to close app due to high temperature.. prbably they mainly use 4K 120FPS for video recording which i feel it is quite dumb as the file size is huge and 4K 120FPS should be use for few seconds record and post processing to slow the video down to serve its purpose instead of fully capture entire video with 4K 120FPS.. dont know about them but so far im okay with the phone performance..

one thing couldnt deny is snapdragon didnt do great job in chipset as these 2 years most flagship phone hav ehigh temperature issue.. hold the demo phone in phone shop and all having warm feeling.. but not for iphone.. if planning to stay at android platform, really not many choices.. average users with flagship device wont notice any big issue..

it did but not massive price reduction.. but officially i saw sony centre only display Pro-I and 5 III.. not sure there is any stock exist for Xperia 1 III.. but earlier should be 5799 RRP and the price i saw is 5299.. not massive to me.. ProI officially is 6699 now..

btw i really like sony as still keep sdcard slot, 3.5mm jack and wireless charging for their flagship!

pick the one which within your budget.. only pick the one you like whenever you are able to afford it..

SD card slot still is an advantage for myself.. 3.5mm jack is an optional.. but mostly im using their wireless headset or earbuds.. but for those who have great pair of wired headphone, yes.. it is super plus point for them..

i think myself prefer xperia over others due to UI and the only display without punch hole & most importantly weight less than 200g.. as long as they maintain no punch hole, 21:9 ratio, and weight below 200g, im going to support them.. seriously more than 200g phone is too much for me especially after add a case (15~20g)?!

but everyone have own preference, some friend and colleagues used to iOS system, so they stayed with it.. android ahve different UI is fine (could change the home app for your own preference).. the rest more on camera implementation system.. display, sounds.. some camera zoom lens are frustrating whenever condition a little dark, they are switching between main (digital zoom) & telephoto lens (optical)..
display like i said, personal preference..

hopefully sony continue to stay and dont be like LG.. mainstream left apple, samsung, xiaomi, oppo, vivo.. the rests consider dan lain-lain already..

only one down side from Sony is quite hard to find the service center in Penang

they have one.. but they dont service it on the spot.. for any warranty claim, need to visit below shop.. they will collect and ship to KL for warranty claim & repair.. Previous model, no repair, 1 to 1 replacement within warranty period.. i knew it cause i claimed it before..

for mk 4 and onwards, they have setup service centre in KL already.. but yeah, limited and still need to ship to KL for any warranty claim.

Assuming I didn't go photo shoot and just casual usage and listening music.. phone battery quite satisfying..

This is based on 91% of battery as I set max 90% battery charging overnight and unplug at 8am.. I did stream music and play at background through YouTube with my earbuds. The rest of time just scroll fb, chrome, watch YouTube videos.. 7 hours+.. I guess max could reach 8hours with 100%..




But if went outdoor for photoshoot and videoshoot, including video edit and upload.. battery screen on time around 5hours + based on my memory.. also quite decent I guess.. but it won't be like iPhone 13 Pro max, that one have longer endurance..

Played little on manual mode of Xperia 1 IV on telephoto zoom lens with ND filter..

It is really worked like a camera.. 8s shutter speed with 3s timer upfront.. car light trail shot is done easily..

However due to small camera sensor, the details is not great enough.


If I used main camera with 2s.. overall looks great if compared to telephoto lens.. this one I forget to bring ND filter lens, so I used my sunglasses and 2s is max shutter speed I could get for proper exposure..

My friend bought like 18xx few weeks ago.
HK unit. He currently has 1 software update version ahead of mine unit purchased from sony Malaysia.

Er...i m coming from xiaomi mi9tpro.
The speaker volume is just around 50-60% of the xiaomi.
Lets say for watching youtube, i have to crane up to 80-90% sound volume for sony. Where usually just need to set around 50% on xiaomi.
Hope u get the idea.

No volte logo on the status bar… looks like he enabled it but telco not support. I dont really use phones to make calls these days, but I afraid that the imported HK set will have problem with local network for mobile internet just like pixel phones.

is there other saving grace for this phone other than the battery?

yea.. i need small stock android phone that isn't 6.5 inch slab and isn't infested with crapware. last time i use samsung m12, my hand got cramped. i hate it that i really like xperia.

Hardly but Sony Malaysia selling Xperia much like fulfill Sony fanboys and the price is expensive if compared with others.. but ya, it is unique and the only choice for 21:9 full screen display without punch hole.. a lot of people hate it too. Depend on preference..

My personal choice is don't want heavy phone.. so far Xperia below 200g which I am still ok and it is my limit i guess.

It seem the battery charging feature that limit 80% or 90% also working fine.. but I would say wireless charging cause heat a lot.. so my recommendation is use a fan blow on it. I only use it on working desk instead of overnight charging. Overnight charging I used back cable and it is much stable and no heat up like wireless..

Now shopee got discount. from 2099 down to 2000. minus some shopee mall coupon RM25 + RM120 rebate, total is RM1850.

only downside is it's somehow a 30 days preorder from Sony Center Sunway.

I'm using even smaller phone right now, iphone SE 2020. It does everything I need, only downside is battery endurance is saddening.

Since u using iphone...maybe can wait for iphone14 as it is announced soon lol

Saw someone posted a video of their 10 IV, noticed a few seconds lag when he browse the options in the phone settings, start at 0:50 mark. Is this expected from SD695 chipset?

I don think that's is lag, look like some loading there.
If u are in KL, can try the hands on at sony center.

In case to know about battery life, even Xperia 1 IV also did a good job..

Definitely could last a day..

last year i was really desperate for small phone, didn't know xperia 10 III was available and end up buying ipon for the size. the thought of buying this xperia 10 has been bothering me for the whole week.

i did hold the phone for xperia 10 IV. just slightly shorter in hand if compared to xperia 1 iv.. but on hand experience definitely good due to display aspect ratio and make phone width around 7cm.. manageable with 1hand.. my hand is small size.. that is one the reason why i still using xperia.. but colleagues that holding max/iphone 8+ or big phone.. they wil lfeel funny why the screen so long one..
