there is no. but if you purchase from sony store, they always came with 1 tempered glass and transparent tpu case.. can serve as temporary protection.. but if you purchase imported set like HK/TW, depend on seller then.. firmware side HK/TW/SEA looks like it's similar.. just warranty aspect is different..
if your phone is still doing good, not necessary to change it right now.. probably can wait for newer chipset (not guarantee will not overheat too) anyways, both Snapdragon 888, 8 Gen 1 not doing good.. even 8 Plus Gen 1 also.. it is better than 8 gen1 but definitely is not something wow.. look at z flip 4 benchmark & stress test will know ady..
even iphone 13 pro max played genshin impact also cannot hold 60fps.. once dropped, auto go to 45fps.. you will notice it but will not really affect gameplay experience.. unless you are super hardcore and must stay at 60fps and above, then have to go for gaming phone such as ROG, Red Magic, BlackShark..
i think the value of 1 IV/5 IV is showing the capabilities of hardware from SONY that capable to shoot 4K120FPS video (including HDR) and 20FPS burst shots + Eye AF.. couldnt say it is overkill digital camera which is impossible.. but it is handy as it could be in your pocket at all time instead of bringing camera + lens always.. i will suggest to people who know what they are doing and why they want to buy it.. if you prefer everything control by phone itself, better not..
i remain at SONY cause i really like the way they design the system.. e.g. telephoto zoom lens.. when we want to use zoom lens, xperia definitely let you use the zoom lens even in lower light/dark environment.. other phones that i bought, it auto switched to main cam and digital crop in.. but this is only achievable after Xperia 1 II.. Xperia 1 first gen series still behave the same as other manufacturers..
Thanks again for the insightful post. I'm not a hardcore gamer to begin with, so I think that makes it an easier decision (if I wanted to switch to Sony of course). I'm also bought into Sony's design language and the build quality -- It's kinda sleek!
I'm currently using S21 Ultra. You maybe right, it's no rush to get myself Xperia 1 iv now, but knowing Sony, their release to market strategy is really really slow, lets say they come out with a whatever new phone next year, we will definitely not get it until six months later.
Yeah I'm considering an imported set of Xperia 1 iv (HK set). I'm not sure what is its benefit over 5 iv (because I have not done enough homework yet) , maybe screen is better, at 4k? But I know the processor is one release older than 5 iv for sure, at Snapdragon 888, as long as battery can last for a day and a half and not overheating, I'm all for it.
