hi all, I'm interested in xperia 5 iv.

hk vs local set is only 200+ difference (on shopee) so is it wise going for local set?

Also for existing 5 iv users, is it true that snapdragon 8 gen 1 (non plus) processor will not overheat as claimed by some users? I just worry it will get overheat.

Unknown.. But the one who applied is taiwanese.. he is currently doing it at penang home.. mainly selling imos stuffs for iphone and samsung.. can customize skins too based on the facebook.. Skiny Phone Penang..

I think selangor can try ask for HAO Screen Protector.. so far i used about 2 week+ and the side protector still intact.. no sign of peeling off yet.. so im quite satisfied.. Price is high RM68 just fyi.. but im using sony style cover which side is fully exposed.. i do have some bumper case but personally prefer stand case.. so i just paid RM68 for testing..
if just RM200 diff of course go for local set.. currently got linkbuds S as free gift and RM50 tng reload coupon.. linkbud S can simply sell RM500 i guess..

regarding to overheat concern, i cant confrim on 5 IV.. but 1 IV with latest firmware, seriously no different as S22 series after some updates.. based on my test on gaming PUBG + livestream & genshin + livestream.. Pubg can hold 60FPS, but genshin impcat cannot hold 60FPS.. im not sure streaming will affect which i think it may affect a little.. but each test is about 1 hour and no app close.. genshin impact definitely could feel the heat.. temperature around 47~48 celcius on top part (camera that area)..

camera, i never get overheat sign anymore after updates.. but there is a way to trigger it.. Hi Speed Burst Shoots about 8 cycles (1600 photos).. overheat & lag.. app will close and show warning icon.. need rest for 5 minutes to cool down.. 4K 120FPS 3 minutes half also will quit.. but in case you really need to have longer duration for 4K 120FPS or other format, get a Sony camera bluetooth Grip GP-VPT2BT, it can enable camera endurance mode in setting.. it can record around 4K 120FPS for 1 hour.. if you are really need that.. haha.. it can unlock higher temeprature limit so you could contninue camera operation.. based on my self check, overheat warning and force close once u exceed 45 celcius..  with grip, even 48celcius and it still going.. heat is easily generated once you are at outside with brighter display + intensive app running.. so consider by your own.. in case you have any questions, feel free to ask..
not worth to get that at RM100.. it suppose to be free from telco.. is 5G really important to you? cause dont see the wide coverage yet.. but in case really want enable it, contact with customer service will be fine..

Thanks for the extensive feedback. Very much appreciated. I'm now contemplating to buy xperia 1 iv instead like you haha.

By the way, is there a pre installed screen protector?

there is no. but if you purchase from sony store, they always came with 1 tempered glass and transparent tpu case.. can serve as temporary protection.. but if you purchase imported set like HK/TW, depend on seller then.. firmware side HK/TW/SEA looks like it's similar.. just warranty aspect is different..

if your phone is still doing good, not necessary to change it right now.. probably can wait for newer chipset (not guarantee will not overheat too) anyways, both Snapdragon 888, 8 Gen 1 not doing good.. even 8 Plus Gen 1 also.. it is better than 8 gen1 but definitely is not something wow.. look at z flip 4 benchmark & stress test will know ady..

even iphone 13 pro max played genshin impact also cannot hold 60fps.. once dropped, auto go to 45fps.. you will notice it but will not really affect gameplay experience.. unless you are super hardcore and must stay at 60fps and above, then have to go for gaming phone such as ROG, Red Magic, BlackShark..

i think the value of 1 IV/5 IV is showing the capabilities of hardware from SONY that capable to shoot 4K120FPS video (including HDR) and 20FPS burst shots + Eye AF.. couldnt say it is overkill digital camera which is impossible.. but it is handy as it could be in your pocket at all time instead of bringing camera + lens always.. i will suggest to people who know what they are doing and why they want to buy it.. if you prefer everything control by phone itself, better not..

i remain at SONY cause i really like the way they design the system.. e.g. telephoto zoom lens.. when we want to use zoom lens, xperia definitely let you use the zoom lens even in lower light/dark environment.. other phones that i bought, it auto switched to main cam and digital crop in.. but this is only achievable after Xperia 1 II.. Xperia 1 first gen series still behave the same as other manufacturers..

Thanks again for the insightful post. I'm not a hardcore gamer to begin with, so I think that makes it an easier decision (if I wanted to switch to Sony of course). I'm also bought into Sony's design language and the build quality -- It's kinda sleek!

I'm currently using S21 Ultra. You maybe right, it's no rush to get myself Xperia 1 iv now, but knowing Sony, their release to market strategy is really really slow, lets say they come out with a whatever new phone next year, we will definitely not get it until six months later.

Yeah I'm considering an imported set of Xperia 1 iv (HK set). I'm not sure what is its benefit over 5 iv (because I have not done enough homework yet) , maybe screen is better, at 4k? But I know the processor is one release older than 5 iv for sure, at Snapdragon 888, as long as battery can last for a day and a half and not overheating, I'm all for it.

Hi, I saw some sellers selling new and sealed Xperia 1 IV for around Rm3800. Do you know what's the catch? Is it legit for imported set, just wondering. Thx
