Makes sense. If you can get over the big bezels around the screen, it should be a more wise choice.

Big thick bezels is always have the 1980's look .. so yeahh go for it .. retro 80's style.

Which color ?

You mean you use your MBA naked ? Use chasings cover always blocks the color from public viewing though ... unless of course you dont mind scuffs and scars on your unit ...

That was what some reviewers said about the midnight colour and I haven't made my mind (but the blackish blue MBA would be wicked biggrin.gif)

It depends on your usage. Need to be more specific. 16GB will be enough for most people with regular use. Just don't consider 8GB. It just filled up very fast.

But how bad is it. I really don’t need 512GB and don’t want to topup. I came from a 2015 MBP. Will this base spec ssd be any slower than that?

Will I even feel it in my daily tasks? using chrome and running microsoft office apps.

Btw, I upgraded to 16GB RAM.

could just order M1 MBA instead for more savings, if you don't need those "upgrades"

From 2015MBP certainly it is still going to be a significant improvement la.

Dun see a big prob with the 256GB SSD even it is slower than 512GB. For daily tasks like web browsers or office apps it is still overkilled.

Just find that 256GB + 16GB ram is quite a weird combination. But of course 16GB Ram u buy for future proof then ok la. The more the merrier anyway.

256 is fine.
that’s why those reviews pushing the limit during testing, scenario where you won’t encounter on your daily normal usage, therefore you can say is suffice for normal user.

256 is enough for normal user. but the review from reviewer on m2 seem talking about performance issue when run out of ram and use swap file, then bad performance.
been running 8GB and 256GB SSD-MBP 2017 , so far did not encounter issue .
some reviewer also say 16GB encounter out of memory before.

Yes 256gb will be sufficient last time the Intel chip MacBook I will recon 512gb min for boot camp purpose. Since now apple silicon mac only runs macOS, 256gb is certainly enough for normal usage.

Just if normal usage, can push to the limit to stick to 8gb also. (but if one needs future proof, of course no harm to go with 16gb) just the more u upgrade the more the price is close to the base MacBook Pro 14-inch.
