ic. thanks for the sharing.

so other brand wireless devices if support easymesh can also works with this unifi mesh wifi?
wonder if how much this model selling? if cheap, maybe just buy one to try the wifi 6 mesh.

then i need to try making a call to know if next month the call is being charged to know if the free calls are still intact.
(not so crucial since can call using mobile nowadays but good to know)

tm seems to have making it available as a mesh option for customers.

from this article, it seems like digi fibre is also giving this same model of wifi router.

All Digi Fibre plan come with a Zyxel EX3300-T0 router, and it comes with a 1-year warranty. Digi Fibre also supports these routers below if you preferred to use your own routers at home:

ZTE ZXHN H198A
Huawei DN8245X6

D-Link X1860Z (the black one shown above)
ZYXEL EX3220

previous mesh router (wifi 6)

Fiberhome SR1041Y

above three models come with EasyMesh protocol, theoretically can form as mesh together

not the same, but same provider nonetheless

ZYXEL EX3300 (for digi) can be found on the company website, looks like el-cheapo 4G LTE router, no external antennae whatsoever

EX3220 (for unifi) is 2022 new model, still not yet listed on company website yet. generic looking with 4 antennae design
*
ic. the dlink one is listed on the unifi website?

after so many trial and error for different location of the mesh client node in my master bedroom, i finally i managed to find the best spot to get the maximum speed upstairs. nice! and again the loaded latency is still very decent. haha.

using linksys wifi 5 mesh. tongue.gif

so they just randomly issue the wifi routers depending on stocks i guess. tongue.gif but the dlink seems to be a better one out of the two due to the easymesh support?

never, just keep as spare first.

my current linksys wifi 5 mesh works well for the current plan (300Mbps) i am using.
I am the only one who uses the unifi at my house so it is totally overkilled to me also.
I had been using 500Mbps/1Gbps symmetric plans in lion city for the past 1.5 years did not feel any difference actually.

Zyxel is quite common in Taiwan,i think the device should be okay.
*
ic. good to hear that. tongue.gif

but i think the dlink one support easymesh which it can work with other brand of mesh wifi router. so technically it is a better model?

The support for EasyMesh is very limited currently. I believe most vendor will refuse to support it to keep people locked into their own ecosystem.

It's also not as good as proprietary mesh standards developed by most OEMs.
*
ic. so tehcnically even other brand, must have this easymesh supported in order to use with this given tm dlink mesh wifi router?

then still ok.. tongue.gif

anyway, one needs to have 500Mbps plan and above to take advantage of wifi 5. so not a must for me to use wifi 6 since i am not using those plans. wifi 6 mesh (other popular brands) are not cheap still actually.

What free router did they give you?
Mind to take photo n share to us the latest they give you what brand/type of router?

If it is Dlink free router can support wifi 6, then you earn profit.
But if it is fiberhome white router, then..........
*
how much the dlink free router can be sold?

just had Huawei "EasyMesh" delivered by Maxis as part of upgrade.

what was initially thought Easy - like Deco easy - to mesh with existing sibling Easymesh-cum-router unit, turn out to be "kena configure this", "kena press-hold that", and seeing the technician setting it up like it's some kind of kungfu not meant for home user.

For now, I am convinced to not fall into Easymesh hype.

.... probably ride out the bundled units as-is first, later change mesh when i really need pedal-to-the-metal.
*
actually not very difficult based on the guide given.
pretty much the concept is like how you pair a wireless device to ur wireless router via WPS.

what 'upgrade' is that besides? so good that maxis just provides free upgrade? so ur house is having more than one unit of the huawei easy mesh wifi router? how is the performance?

Yes, good luck getting every vendor to implement it properly. Some brands can't even mesh properly within their own ecosystem.

The biggest different of WiFi 6 is the speed when the signal is weak. Let's say after 2 walls WiFi 5 will only give you 100Mbps. WiFi 6 could be around 250Mbps in best case scenario.

WiFi 6 is more efficient so it can transport more data even on poor signal conditions.
EasyMesh is nothing more than refined WDS repeater mode.

AP steering, band steering and roaming will still depends on how each OEM configure them.
*
i think the position of the mesh nodes make a big big difference. i spent quite a few hours to test the best spots to place the child node in my master bedroom to get the best speed. finally i found it and now i am having the same speed in my master bedroom as downstairs.

I am using linksys wifi 5 mesh which i find it quite little ppl use in bolehland. they work quite well for me to cover my double storey. tongue.gif

spent about sgd169 for this combi. (that time there was promo to get 1 x velop at sgd10 with the purchase of the MR series mesh wifi router)

Seems like the MPro Mesh function of the zyxel wifi mesh router is the same as EasyMesh after all.

Yup the Linksys Velop series are pretty decent. Somehow they are rather pricey over here.
*
yeah. one thing in lion city, electronic products can easily find sale throughout from the mega electronic store.

bolehland hardly see discounts at most can find more discounts for tvs. not so much on IT products.
to get cheaper than retail price, can only go to shopee etc. to find.

Huawei LG8245x6-10

The router + 2 mesh units. All same model.
Apparently for EasyMesh, the selling point is, each joining node is required to fall under a "leader" in the group. Probably the root router.

Specification/review of LG8245X6 is lacking on the net.
Do you suppose this is 2-band or 3-band mesh? there is mention of 2.4GHz, lower 5GHz, and upper 5GHz in the document.

how is the performance of the huawei mesh wifi? do u get full speed near to the child nodes?

easymesh comparing to the mesh by individual vendor.
i think the greatest advantages are:
1) it allows different vendors devices to work together as long as the devices support easymeh
2) it is easier to setup comparing to traditional mesh which normally will need to go thru the wizards on the app to complete the setup which now u just use the WPS button to complete the pairing.

Use any TM own fix line call 100 is free

ic. ok. thanks. need to try my unifi fixed line to confirm if it is still have free call plans still. long time never use already.

besides, just curious, is there any plan for Allo to increase their coverage? or they simply just target on those areas that is not covered by tm or specific area?

the symmetric plan looks attractive. i read somewhere before, symmetric plan technically works better than asymmetric plan like unifi rite? anyway, lion city telcos are all having symmetric fibre broadband only.

seems like now johor - pasir gudang ,kota tinggi senai have coverage already.

If you want to confirm whether your account is still included with Voice STD20 by calling customer service

Regarding Allo Broadband, there are pros and cons.

Pros
Affordable price
Symmetrical Speed

Cons
No Public IP
No IPV6
Poor Customer Service
Add-on RM20/month for fixed line service
Coverage is still limited
Not taking the risk of installing infra in rural areas (Except Jasin due to TNB pilot project)

user posted image

ic. but public ip even now DiGi does not offer that as well even by request. Maxis still can request for that. Celcom i think they also do not give rite even by request?

symmetric speed is the nice part. tongue.gif

but cannot deny the fact, unifi is actually quite stable. i have not encountered any downtime since 2016 when i first install unifi at my house.

Wow, very nice performance. Your mesh nodes are all wireless right? Anyway tri-band ftw for wireless setups.

Here got a few tests with Deco M9.

Yes very good performance indeed.
upstairs I am using a tri band node as child. below the main one connects to the ONT is a dual band.
previously using the dual band node (now as parent) the result upstairs is not good.
going to try to replace the dual band node (downstairs) to see if i can even get a better result. tongue.gif

All the mesh nodes are connected via wireless.
can get almost full speed or 90% speed most of the time and with reasonable latency below 100ms i would say very good already. now i do not encounter any lag while playing mobile game upstairs.

In all honesty, whether it's this type of mammal or another, my prayers are the same: please don't screw up my internet.

About 3 years ago, my poor neighbour's Unifi was out for 27 days because the cable to her house was pulled out. Though in that case, it wasn't a Dusky Leaf monkey. Apparently there was a mix-up and during an installation, someone disconnected her fibre and used her port for another house.
*
therefore newer estate, it is better since everything is underground. tongue.gif less chances for fibre cable to break etc. also.
