Is the price perpetual discount forever?
*
QUOTE(Xefron @ Aug 25 2022, 06:56 AM)
No, only 24 months.
Yes, they expect you to change your plan again once the contract end.

Pay higher price = No contract
Pay slightly lower price = Bound to another 24 months.
*
UPDATE 10:37AM: Just received a call from TM to verify my upgrade request. Confirmed with him that the promo price is PERMANENT even after 24 months contract ends. Weeeee rclxm9.gif

I asked 2 different livechat CS agents, both said it's permanent. The T&C and FAQ documents never mentioned that you will fall back to original price after 24 months.

It only said you will be bound to 24 months contract that's it. This part in the T&C also mentioned the bundled discounted price upon successful upgrade. No mention of returning to original price.

Add-on RM10 for the Ultimate Pack.

For example

RM179 - 300mbps with Ultimate Pack
RM169 - 300mbps with VAR Pack

I just concluded a chat.

This concerns the on-going "Extraordinary Campaign (Existing Users)" that is supposedly offered through app and web portal.

RM209 500Mbps - Extraordinary Unifi Plus Box/Mesh
RM219 500Mbps - Extraordinary Unifi Plus Box + tv pack
RM279 800Mbps - Extraordinary Unifi Plus Box/Mesh
RM289 800Mbps - Extraordinary Unifi Plus Box + tv pack

My current plan is "500Mbps - Try Me Ultimate (Mesh Wifi) RM249" which includes Unifi Plus Box + Ultimate Pack + Deco M9 Plus.

I am looking forward to "500Mbps - Extraordinary RM219". That's a price reduction of RM30. Small, but still a potential reduction.

Key takeaway of what CS wrote in my chat:
  • the campaign is primed towards upgrade and new users (!?)
  • contract renewed back to 24mths
  • CS not sure if my subscription is eligible to switch to same speed at lower price; asked me to call 100 and ask eligibility from "4"; if eligible then no penalty when switching plan.
  • i switch to ask about upgrading instead; confirmed no penalty, just contract period renewed.
  • the Unifi Plus Box is capable of "basic viewing" - i didn't ask what is it, nor did she explain further.
  • Those subscribing w/ Unifi Plus Box but without TV pack bundle can contract tv pack separately, now or later, at full price (e.g. Ultimate Pack is RM60).
MY OWN CAUTION TO YOU:
  • beware if you are currently contracted to existing tv pack - switching might trigger breach and penalty, read the Extraordinary T&C first. like me, still have partial of its 1 year contract until end-October 2022, so switching without due diligence can get me penalised

I dun think anyone really use the 2.4Ghz.

got la.. nod.gif
old wifi stuff.. IoT / home smart devices.. <- mostly this. current smart devices only support 2.4Ghz (need long range). not many new smart devices support 5GHz.

Were you asking me?

I chose 500Mbps because
  • when I signed up middle of 2021, we were going in and out of MCO with no clear signal on how things are going
  • during which we need switch back-and-forth to school-from-home and work-from-home
  • a lot of video streaming incoming to home
  • frequent video conferencing outgoing from home (priority)
  • 500Mbps download + 100Mbps upload is the minimum bundle offered back then with the highest advertised upload rate

fibre contract (start w/ 2 years) and tv pack contract (start w/ 1 year) are separate, even if they had bundled and started at the same time.

According to CS chat, if you take up/switch to rateplan without tv pack bundled, you can contract any tv pack separately now or later, at its prevailing price.
e.g. Ultimate Pack current prevailing price is RM49.90

But, if you have current tv pack bundled in, and still on-going, and you wish to switch to a fibre without tv pack, tread carefully and make sure you did not trigger penalty regarding existing tv pack contract.

You don't need 500mbps for video conferencing. Spent the money on good hardware.
VC you need 100mb will do.

Haih....
Why you focus only on the download rate? I also know even 4K don't need 100Mbps download.

I need to consider multiple concurrent users.
The deliberation is not only download rate.
For video conferencing, have to consider the upload rate as well.

If there is a 300Mbps download / 100Mbps upload package, then yeah, I'll take it.
But there's none, right?
So 500Mbps download / 100Mbps upload is the lowest entry for my requirement.

Haha for me if there's 1gbps or 2gbps at affordable price I would go for it. Everyone uses internet differently.

I frequently donwload large files at 5-10GB on a daily basis, if I can downoad at half or a quarter the time, why not?

And for upload, I have few TBs of data in my cloud storage. 200mbps upload is really nothing to shout about when I'm uploading 10+GB at a time.

Let alone having family members streaming Netflix or YouTube at 4K while I am doing all the above.

most of the time when people say: why you need xxx.
they already missed the point.

just like my pc got 8 hdd+sdd including system drive. 'just i need it' period
explaining one by one will be pain in ass

btw, i getting 300mbps (yet arrive, maybe next month or two), its 50mbps upload i think enough for me to stream on twitch and discord.
currently using digi 4g infinite, enough for stream but not smooth.

Something wrong with the local routing today? I noticed most of the local websites been routed to ams-ix.as13335.net
