OMG~ really??
do u know whether this course is already LAN approved or not?
MOHE will approve it?
so they dun have any experience in preparing students for pro exams?

thanks for ur reply ya

Without approval from MOHE, they can't start offering the programme =D
Accreditation from MQA is another matter that can only be optained after fulfilling certain requirements one of them having a graduating batch to be evaluated so if it's still quite new it'll be some time before they can get accreditation.

Have you checked the overall syllabus that includes Year 2 and Year 3 as well? Is there any elective choice in your syllabus?
I'm not from these courses but generally you start specializing in a field beginning end of Year 2 - Year 3.

i take computing in ucsi , its not really that bad but i dun recommend u to take comp course at here , ucsi oni offer computing (more like comp science) and mobile computing ( very very less ppl take )
its basically like rojak of everything , but everything u will touch a little bit only .
worst of all they din provide C/C++ programming ..

can anyone confirm this? i got this from facebook

Dear Fellow UCSI Student,

If you are graduating this Conovocation 2010, we are very unhappy to inform you that you have been cheated, UCSI has changed the classification of honors criteria to all current and graduating UCSI Students on 1st week of july 2010. Noone is aware of this change it is a very hush hush secret issue. Your degree's have been demoted from 1st Class to Second Upper, From Second Upper to Second Lower, and From Second Lower to Third Class.

The actual classification of honors according to the latest UCSI Student Handbook of April 2010 for Undergraduate students (Page .56) clearly states " The weightage to be given will be generally 20% Weightage for Penultimate Year and 80% Of the Final Year. THe overall final marks in percentage for classification of honors will be guided by the following table:

Honors Classification CGPA
First Class 3.75 and above
Second Upper 3.00 - 3.74
Second Lower 3.50 - 2.99
Third Class 2.99 - 2.49
Fail 0.00 - 1.99
"

According to this information UCSI is by law obligated to follow their own rules and policies which are clearly mentioned in the student handbook.

Lets say you apply for your Transcript and in the end your CGPA Stated there is 2.63 This CGPA Consists of all the 3 years or 4 years of your degree program. In reality if you use the actual 20% and 80% Classification rule You ommit the 1st year of your education and only add the 20% cgpa of year 2 and 80% cgpa of year 3 together you will come up with a cgpa of 3.03 Classifying you to be bumped up to the Second Upper classification.

Students who have joined UCSI since 2006 all know that Year 1 is not counted in classification and Year 2 is 20% and Year 3 is 80% thus students work very hard in their second and third year to get higher marks and get a better degree classification.

But if UCSI Just changes this policy without informing students and only applying to new students after informing them.UCSI Is doing an illegal change of policies without the consent of students, academic staffs and parents. Thus UCSI Is cheating your money.

Just imagine if you took a PTPTN Loan to pay UCSI How would you feel if your class of honors is suddenly dropped just like all the effected convocation 2010 students, every single on of them, along with all current UCSI Students.

You have a lower classification degree:-
You cant get a good job,
You cannot enter any insitituion or your Masters Or Doctorate degre.
For International Students ( If you want to immigirate to a better country, they look at your classification of honors, Your future is destroyed)

It is the RIGHT of the students to claim what has been promised to them, And UCSI Has to give a clear transparent rules which they are following and they need to apply NEW POLICIES ONLY ON NEW INTAKES, AFTER INFORMING THEM.

We are taking this case very seriously and we are rallying and making all students aware of whats happening to you, How UCSI University Your College your very own University is cheating your future and your parents hard earned money, and your future PTPTN Loan money....

Think about you, You matter you are the client the student it is YOUR RIGHT TO DEMAND TRANSPERENCY....

We will be uploading the UCSI Way of calculatiing your CGPA Manually many students do not know about this, along side many UCSI Records offfice staff also do not disclose this information. So YOU YOURSELF can go get a transcript and know your cgpa yourself by calculating manually and knowing how your future is being cheated by our beloved uni.

We have tried to approach student council but they have no power in this issue as they are working for UCSI Management, alongside many deans of school academic side have no power... The UCSI Management are the only ones changing policies without anyones consent.

Thank you for your time,

Support us so we can support you..

Spread the word....

Then didnt it piss off lots of people? if they implement such new rule then the students affected are only those who join UCSI after the implementation date, as for the rest of the students who joined before the new rule, it is unfair

So that means if you based on the calculation from Student Handbook 2010, CGPA is only counted on the second and final year right?
This is a serious case of misconduct of professionalism and integrity by the University. I'll need to check the latest issue of the Student Handbook for reference and evidence collection purposes.

If where I'm studying is going to be at the North Campus, should I stay nearby the North Campus? All of my friends are going to be in the South Campus and we plan to live off campus. Should I just ditch them to be more convenient and live nearby North Campus or just live at South and take shuttle buses? Would you recommend that?

Just stay together, the shuttle bus is quite frequent in trips between South and North. If you don't feel like taking bus, a 15 minutes walk is what you need from South to North wink.gif
