So I was in 1 Utama last weekend and saw the maxis dealer there, Speed Dial Sdn Bhd put up a sign on what stocks were available. I saw they listed a 14 Pro Max 256GB available and in Deep Purple too, which was the color I was eyeing. However, I was kinda wary about the terms and conditions imposed by these dealers, so I wasn’t too optimistic but asked anyway.

So the dealer says the T&C is I had to buy two accessories from them - and have to choose between a case, screen protector and/or cable. So the screen protector is the Amazingthing Supreme glass one - which you can get online at about RM70 or maybe just under, but they listed it at RRP RM89. The cable was a C to lightning, MFI certified one, list price RM70 but they said they were having a promotion at RM39 and last but not least they had an assortment of cases, all branded and all about RM99 and above. So I decided I wasn’t gonna buy their accessories and was about to walk away when the guy says, “Wait sir, maxis got promo - RM120 off the phone price so you can use that for your accessories.” So on contract (maxis MOP 128), the 256GB Pro Max was suppose to be RM4,804 but he said he would charge me RM4,684, and I could buy the tempered glass and cable for RM128, so that works out to RM4,812.

Oh, and if anyone wants to know, no Onecard points for the phone, just the accessories laugh.gif

I have a feeling the plans will now start at 139, a bump up from the 128 previously for “5G”…

now the plan are different right?
minimum under normal contract 24 is plan 109
while minimum under zerolution is plan79

which one offer best device price versus plan fees ya? confused.gif

Decided to take your question here so we don’t bother the non-maxis folks from that thread, hahaha…

Yes, the plans are now different with 5G. MOP98 is now 109 (additional RM11) and MOP128 is now 139… I was on the 128 and if I remember correctly, in the past, normal contract 24 months for iPhone will start at 128 plan at launch, then few months later only they allow those on 98 to buy on normal contract. I suspect this year may be the same, which means the minimum plan might be 139 - I hope I’m wrong and you’re right, but I doubt so…

i bet starting on 139, which later on will be open for 109
79 will be not entitle at all or only for non pro later

just dont "terkejut" when queue up in maxis system and only available for plan starting 139 laugh.gif that time really... buy or not to buy

furthermore now the new plan comes with a lot more data, unless the maxis principal line need accommodate 2 or above sub lines, no valid reason to go 139 or above

Ya, I also think it’ll start at 139, since this is the new 128 plan. I’m guessing you can only get Zerolution for 79 and 109 at the launch which is pointless…

I use maxis home fibre so my data quota is unlimited, but I may be moving in a month or two so I’ll likely not continue with maxis since the place I’m moving to has Time, but even so I do think the current quota is more than sufficient for mobile usage… We came from an era when the maxis one plan 128 had like a 3GB quota, hahaha….

Hi all, not sure if this is the right forum to ask but I picked up a second hand iP14 phone and was given this receipt from Switch that said the device is bound to a Maxis telco plan. When I asked why it's stated as such the seller said it's fine, the full phone amount is already paid upfront and in full so there is no need to worry.

For those of you who purchased the iPhones under the same Maxis plan, does your Switch receipt look the same?

Should I be worried?

Seller report lost or run away, then Maxis will get MCMC to block the IMEI right?

In my opinion, the seller has been dishonest - that is definitely a Zerolution receipt - otherwise the value reflected on the receipt will be the subsidized price - and also the receipt clearly says Zerolution. So yes, you should be a little worried in case the seller defaults on his bills and Maxis blocks the IMEI.

you should go to maxis and double check the IMEI, if it is tied to an on-going contract

As my 2 year contract ends in November, I would have to pay the penalty fee/cancel the current contract in order to sign a new plan for the iPhone 15 pre-order.
Does anyone knows if I have to cancel/pay the penalty fee in the Maxis shop first so I can be ready for the pre-order or can it be done and calculated automatically during the iPhone pre-order checkout?

You can show the receipt. Just check if it is clean, no need to know who is the owner.

if it isn't, then you have rights to demand reparation from switch for the deceit.

maxis also have rights unencumbered rights to the device in question as zerolution device are wholly owned by maxis and cannot change owner before end of contract, just like hire purchase vehicles belong to financing institution before final payment is received. you can't win.

Yes bro, go to their outlet and cancel first before the pre-order. If you can wait till next month, just walk in to their centre and if they have the stocks you want, just ask them to renew your contract and they'll waive the penalty.

its crazy how Maxis requires you to sub to their 5G plans in order to pre-order the iPhone 15.

i had less than 3 weeks of my existing contract and they refused to waive it for me, i need to fork out another RM43 to terminate it otherwise i won’t be able to pre-order on the 22nd.

sure i can wait for the next batch so i don’t have to pay the termination fee but my phone is already giving me problems so i need to change it out eventually.

but isn't ALL telcos doing the same i.e. you need to take any rateplan together with phone. if Maxis still have pre-5G rateplans available, would you then be complaining about having to sign up to pre-5G rateplan?

it just so happened that Maxis already retired all their pre-5G rateplans, and only 5G-included rateplans are left available.

Really? That would mean i wouldn't be able to use my phone for 1 week if i cancel my contract on 21st Sept and only receive the 15 on 29th-30th!
That's highly impractical and inconvenient... doh.gif

but why would you be without phone?

you cancel the zerolution contract by paying [RRP divide contract length multiply by outstanding contract length] + penalty for cancelling it earlier.
maxis or any telco for that matter won't take the phone back lah.

why the penalty?

the give you discounted device, and in return you had previously promised to continue pay them RM128 rateplan for 24mth. but now you want to renege. so instead of having to pay the full RM1536 for the outstanding RM128*12mth (as example), they're asking for maybe few percent of the device price as compensation for unrealised promise.

maybe to you RM43 is steep amount as you are in your final month, but if you look at perspective of someone else who maybe is in month 18, having to pay RM43(?) but escapes from the final monthly bill of [RM139*6mth] could be a blessing.

after all, once you terminate contract, there is no guarantee you won't change to cheaper plan or MNP out altogether.

that's fair, no? unlike fibre contract in which if you renege, you are still liable to pay the monthly commitment multiply by outstanding months.
