This is an anchor band, which means it is unless your phone lock to this band only, and no phone call can be established for this band as well.
Your phone must fall back to telco other freq band for the phone call.

I lock into B28 for LTE only and VoLTE works fine with calls.

Most probably you still get the maximum speed cap of your plan, because DNB only acted like AP, everything still redirect back to your telco.

Coz right now i lock band 1,3,7,8, even having carrier aggregation the download speed still around 3-4 Mbps only.
but at least network is not congested so still can use.

Not necessarily so. There are times that Maxis speed test result is lower than that of Digi but somehow Maxis was able to load pages and videos faster.

My friend and I noticed similar scenario with telcos in Thailand too ! A friend working in Bangkok noted that even though he’s only on unlimited 15Mbps prepaid in Thailand, for some reason AIS Thailand 15Mbps always works faster and more stable than any of our telcos in Malaysia. I already noticed this last time when I used DTAC 3G. It was 3G only but it was faster than our 4G in Malaysia (talking about real user experience, not speed test result).

not every phone model is able to lock band

I am using SAMSXXG and it can lock band by using code *#*#2263*

Samsung : *#2263# to lock band , *#0011* to see connected band details (including CA)

The thing about MTK is you can't even get signal if you choose NR only. Any idea how do i solve this issue?

That's exactly my understanding. The thing is there's no option to choose "4G B28" or "NR N78" or perhaps it goes by other names?

It should be under Telephony tab > BandMode > choose which SIM slot

To lock to LTE B28 only, untick LTE B1/B3/B7/B8 (Celcom/Digi/Maxis/U Mobile) or LTE B5/B38/B40 (unifi) or LTE B20/38/40/41 (Yes) and tap on "Set" at bottom left. Always remember to "Reset to default" as some phones doesn't reset the lock even after rebooting

How do i get to the screen in the attached picture? Are you using some kind of app or something?
