Yes Huawei's 5G technology is much more mature..too bad DNB appointed Ericsson as the single vendor for the deployment...

now the coverage map is shitty !!
*
But you see newer Huawei phones don't support 5G cool2.gif Their chips maybe from US too

Ummm.... not quite in our case

If your phone shows up 5G and/or connected to LTE band 28 anchor band, data traffic goes through DNB's 4G/5G antenna radio instead of going straight to 6 telco's 4G antenna radio. DNB can just disable data flowing through 4G B28 (keep it on solely for signaling) and keep data traffic flowing through 5G n78 if they want to.
*
If B28 can be used for data also, you will get better coverage also due to lower frequency used and n78 due to higher frequency, you will get narrower coverage. Just like 3G and 4G coverage when 4G still on early state. You will say I better kept on 3G better coverage than 4G very limited coverage.

Not sure why they make it so difficult for 5g phones to work.

My phone is not in the supported list but 5g works. Poco x4 gt.
*
It's actually phone manufacturers don't enable the 5G when the 5G cannot meet their requirements. Some phone manufacturers just enabled it on all their phones that support it, especially China brands.

This one is connected to DNB network, not Maxis own

That's the intended behavior of DNB's MOCN setup... when you connect to DNB's network with Maxis SIM, the phone will see Maxis PLMN. Put in Celcom SIM, the phone will see Celcom's PLMN when connected to DNB network.
*
Actually DNB broadcast all PLMN for all telco. If you limit your phone to band 28 only, you can see all the telco supported at your area. If you force Maxis SIM card to connect to band 28, it actually works.

5G NSA doesn't have low latency as promissed by telco and DNB. Wait 5G SA network for it. tongue.gif

any one have inside news? new gov gonna open 5G spectrum?
*
This is only at the early stage. Even so maybe only Maxis can benefit from this. By the time everything has ready, DNB may have covered most of the major cities and some rural areas.

thats weird because sometimes it happened and sometime doesn't
seems like its the tower itself problem but i couldn't verify it because at the same time no one is using 5G plan that attached to B28+N78 other than me
*
It doesn't happened only to unifi mobile, u mobile also the same. Even when I connected to 5G NSA, if very low traffic you will be kicked also. DNB also doesn't allow VoLTE on their network. bangwall.gif My area no network coverage and DNB is the only avaliable network, but can't seem to take or make calls. doh.gif

with Digi i can get VoLTE on B28
but not unifi mobile
more worst im using Pixel 3 and until now i didn't find a proper MBN to flash inside Pixel 3 to enable unifi mobile VoLTE under B5 / 38 / 40
*
You get VoLTE on band 28 but can you call out from this band? tongue.gif My call got cut off around 10 seconds. rclxms.gif I think DNB use it for band transfer back to telco network. If it can't call will be cit off within few seconds.

This is an anchor band, which means it is unless your phone lock to this band only, and no phone call can be established for this band as well.
Your phone must fall back to telco other freq band for the phone call.

BTW, there is an announcement for an announcement.

I lock into B28 for LTE only and VoLTE works fine with calls. rclxms.gif

Hi, anyone tried to lock lte band 28 when subscribing GX38? able to connect to internet with a higher speed?
*
Most probably you still get the maximum speed cap of your plan, because DNB only acted like AP, everything still redirect back to your telco.

Recently get a 5G phone (well - because I want some form of 5G connection) and test it at my home in JB using Unifi Mobile SIM card (this is what I have right now that support 5G) - on Fast.com I got 5G speeds of up to 700Mbps on a entry level Poco M4 5G. I had download using 5G on that device and it is really smooth! Will try it around the city on few days later as I now have access to a 5G device to do long form test outdoors. Some had said that the 5G experience in JB is really good.

The data usage is painful though as there is just 10GB FUP on the so called daily "unlimited" plan!
*
Yeah, anything less than 100GB on 5G can be painful, if you try to "test drive 5G" tongue.gif But have access to it just to get "extra" coverage out of the limited coverage from your telco is a plus point, even taiko telco also have deadspot here and there.
