so already 14/2/2022 , no sign from DNB and Yes to activate 5G on Samsung / Apple MYSET?
or because Yes small telco and not certified from Apple so Apple / Samsung reject to enable 5G for Malaysia region.
They promised "BY Q1 2022" which is technically before 1 January 2022 aka Q1 2022

dual still better than mono. got a bad experience from TM.

If (and that's a BIG if) profit making is the least of DNB's concern, then why not having just one. It's surely can cut the cost further down.

Here, to get 0.5 Gbps is also vomit blood...

Speaking of the USA 10 times population (the masses) compared to ours. According to Ookla, the average mobile download speed is 54.40Mbps and average upload speed is 8.39Mbps. This is what experienced by the masses in the USA, not the 0.5Gbps.

Still discussing / bargaining on acquiring 51% of share of DNB....

As much as i hate what they were doing with the 5G implementation in this country, i do agree with the government decision not to allow the big four to get 51% and control the SPV.

yes just let the politician control everything, songlap the money and dnb will failed miserably. laugh.gif

Think before you laugh. The main reason for the big 4 wanting the controlling stake (51%) between them is to effectively lock out other small players or would-be players. So they could then proceed with their thinly veiled price-fixing scheme. With DNB (if it actually took off), the entry barrier will be significantly lowered for small/new players. Before DNB, for a telco to have a decent coverage is to invest many many billions on the infrastructure. And becoming an MVNO (like what we have now) is not an option as one is still subjected to the infra partner (a full-fledged telco) thus would significantly lessen the chance for a small/new players to be a full-fledged telco. This is no doubt designed to further solidify the position of the big 4 at the expense of the end user like us. Thus my support for the government decision not to allow the big four demand for 51% controlling shares.

so government decided that 4 major telco (or soon to be just 3 if celcom-digi merger comes through ) is not enough for them because only one is directly crony company, and government wants more cronies to join telco market properly (isn't already have one like ALTEL/puncak semangat)?

they can say more competitions but actually is more cronies in the market and will slowly push out non-cronies like maxis or umobile if the plan go through
*
Well, the government actually offered all 9 telecommunication companies equal stakes totalling 70% which sounds fair to me as apposed to the 51% stakes demanded by the big 4 to be distributed between 4 (soon to be 3) of them. I'm sure everyone here knows that the big 4 are only concern about how to increase their ARPU and locking the competition out is one of the ways to increase and keep their ARPU high. By having equal stakes for all telcos would make it a lot less easy for them to form a price-fixing cartel.
