must use their new sim to get 5G?
*
Existing Yes customers can make the switch to the 5G plans, however, you’ll need to switch to a new SIM. The only way to do so is by dropping an email to yescare [@] yes.my.

Unfortunately, the Yes Prepaid FT5G is only offered to new customers. If you’re an existing Yes prepaid subscriber and wish to keep your number, you must upgrade to the Yes Postpaid FT5G RM49 option and you can only do so over the counter.

You can’t get the 5G-enabled SIM in store
Following the launch of Yes 5G service yesterday, we went to a Yes store at Lot 10 hoping to get a prepaid starter pack. Unfortunately, the Prepaid SIMs are not available at the store and the only way to pick up a 5G-enabled SIM is to order online via their website.

K40 Pro Plus probably won't get 5G in Malaysia, because telcos and DNB won't provide 5G for devices not officially registered under SIRIM in Malaysia

No idea with 5G and smartphone. But 4G modem dont have sirim mcmc sticker no problem.

I think operator doing IMEI verification check like smartphone plan.

Bangi MP questions four mobile network operators on transparency regarding 5G rollout

In a Twitter update, Ong drew comparisons to Digital Nasional Bhd’s (DNB) 21-page response to a joint statement among the telco’s 20-line statement to his 10 questions.

“@DNB_Official issued a 21-page response to my 15 questions on the 5G rollout.

“The telcos are asking to establish a Dual Wholesale Network (DWN) model and they have issued a 20-line statement to my 10 questions to them.

“Who is being more transparent here?” he asked in a Twitter post.

In the statement posted by Ong, the telcos had noted his questions and offered assurance that they will support decisions made by the government.

The DNB however also noted that some of Ong’s questions were directed explicitly at the CEOs of the existing MNOs so they did offer any comments.

Questions which were answered by DNB were 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10.

Ericsson is because of CN US 5G WAR
As long not huawei world police happy
thai indon sg is using Ericsson

Apple no 5G because YTLC dont paid protection money to Apple. No VoLTE No 5G
DNB 5G tester using Samsung with new firmware. Samsung No 5G more likely because of region lock

So 5G using MOCN model. Big 4 network have the same 5G coverage
4G jendela site and Sarawak mobile site using MOCN. Share tower share spectrum

From what i understand. Telco dont need to pay 5G spectrum licence fee one time + yearly fee. 5G licence handle by DNB.
