T&L Telcom, Techbug and Shirogawa are my personal top 3 reputable resellers. Been buying from them since the first Pixel 1 OG in 2016, 2, 3, 4 & present 5 models every year.

Are you planning on getting a shipper/forwarder to import it from Google US store or perhaps buy it from a reseller?

The best option maybe is our neighbor SG. Hopefully ours and their borders will be open soon.

Usually importers will apply rm500 more on top so be sure to burn your wallet sweat.gif

As for SIRIM i think if there is importer already we no need to get the approval (last time i remember it was RM100)

I think ill go for p6 Green ... i dont think i need the zoom thingy

What say u ???

I'm pretty certain the Pixel 6 regular model will retail for USD750 or USD50 more over the Pixel 5 when it was first announced in Sept 2020.

My best guess is that the Pixel 6 pro will retail for USD1,000 or USD1,099.

Yes, if these retailer prices are real and not just a placeholder price to troll leakers, it will great news since the price of the regular 6 and 6 pro undercuts the Apple iPhone regular and pro series by USD100 - 150 making it quite an attractive offering on the basis of price alone.

Google phones since the Pixel 1 to 5 are known for hardware issues and sub par customer support to address such issues.

Being so, it's best to wait for 1 to 2 months after post launch to read real user reviews to be aware of any significant hardware/software related issues and then you can weigh the choice whether to accept the risk of purchasing one from either a reputable reseller who offers to honor the 1 year warranty or take the bigger risk to ship it from Google store directly.

More leaks including an early embargo first impresisons review and pricing from an Australian tech site:

1) First impressions:

https://www.finder.com.au/google-pixel-6

2) Pricing in Australian Dollars:

Pixel 6

128gb - $999
256gb - $1129

Pixel 6 Pro

128gb - $1299
256gb - $1449
512gb - $1599

3) First impressions & review embargo dates:

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have two embargos:

Tomorrow (10/19) @ 1:00PM ET
- unboxings, first impressions, cannot show images/video from cameras, can only show home screen of devices

Monday (10/25) @ 12:00PM ET
- reviews, photos/videos from the cameras, software features

https://twitter.com/jon_prosser/status/1450...waAPZsjf_Q&s=19

In summary, if the attractive pricing of the Pixel 6 and 6 pro is true, it will probably be best to pre-order one early to avoid dissapointment & backorders owing to the current Global chip shortages.

Usually how do you translate the AUD to USD?
since usually the importer will import the US set more

or T&L will be HK set

Google-aims-to-double-smartphone-output-with-new-Pixel-6

Could this be a signal that Pixel 6 will reach more markets? Can we dream & hope for official Malaysia set? hmm.gif

Assuming India don't sapu all the extra sets, Singapore may get official release. But I'm guessing Malaysia will still not get cry.gif

Means we still have to rely on AP from HK or SG... cheebye betul

I don't think the set won't support volte .. it is Telco unlock and should work fine

Just that our Telco has fully implimented it or not

Problem is not the phone don't support volte, just that our Telco may not want to enable the volte for models not registered in MY. Currently I'm having this issue with unifi mobile, phone confirm support volte, network also support volte but pixel is not within their compatible phone list

QUOTE(mikeeeee @ Oct 19 2021, 09:41 PM)
Problem is not the phone don't support volte, just that our Telco may not want to enable the volte for models not registered in MY. Currently I'm having this issue with unifi mobile, phone confirm support volte, network also support volte but pixel is not within their compatible phone list
*
Ya. My worry is our local telcos support. I know most devices nowadays are Volte compatible. My Note 8 previously already got Volte with digi but once I changed to Pixel, it's no longer available. A bit worried cause it drops to 3g during call.

next year no more 3G so it will be force to 4G ... but the problem is our telco will enable it or not on so called unsupported phone?

couldnt find the setting for volte in my pixel 3xl ... even though celcom now support volte sweat.gif

Really tempted to get and seeing the price, undecided which one to get. I thought they'll be much more expensive and was set on getting the 6 only. Now to wait how much the price will be jacked jere.

Seems 6 is a better deal if you don’t need a tele lens, and a curved display
I do like that polished metal trim around the camera visor though…

From which country do they take stock from? that price is around 500+ increase for the P6 and 663 for the 6 pro compared to us pricing. I think its kinda fair with the addition of customs charges. Their pricing is very close to germany pricing, cheaper than uk

If it is techbug usually US set
Last time the price was more or less +500
But since our RM is like falling still .. plus u need to pay ransom to tax sweat.gif

See other scalper price later too before deciding .. and most likely no volte option too

Google is fail on this part. Why Google can't like Apple selling worldwide nearly every country. Google selling country is too limited.

I want Google Pixel 6 Pro. Too bad as usual cannot get from Malaysia officially.

My previous purchase of Pixel 5 and uses BnS doesn't required SIRIM.. only paid some tax which slightly extra than SIRIM permit. (weird)
Prolly tax under different product code rclxub.gif

My experiences so far all my self imported phones required SIRIM permits.

RM180 excluding BnS shipping is kinda exp hmm.gif but the BnS shipping shouldn't be too expensive ba, Pixel 6 pro less than 1 pound and BnS shipping is about Rm22-RM26 per pound.

Get from local reseller for less headache.
It's cheapest for self import, but hassle is u needed to keep monitor the shipment progress till arriving to Malaysia kastam.

When dealing with kastam either u paying X amount of fees or u get the paperworks done by yourself (waste time)

I am concerned about this too. On my OnePlus 8T I can apply some tweaks to enable VOLTE on Digi. But Pixel seems harder.
But this is the same for some brands like OnePlus too, until today no VOLTE out of the box.

Pray no issues with it. Else sent back to Google for warranty.

I think one forumer here does the warranty by sending it back to States if any faulty arise.
So far all my Nexus/Pixel devices are okay (touch wood).

In another sg forum are concerning whether they can use 5g or not while we worrying if we can use volte for this pixel 6.

So far, malaysia only maxis phasing out 3g right? I believe digi and celcom still have use the 3g spectrum?

Ok I just did some research, apparently 2G network is still going to stay (probably due to lack of 4G penetration in rural areas and for emergency calls).

So if all 3G network is shut down, without VOLTE we will fall back to 2G which doesn't come with HD quality calls. sweat.gif

For current Pixel phones, there's some mods available (no root needed) to enable VOLTE if you have a config file called MBN, rather technical but at least possible. But that process only works for Qualcomm SoC. With Pixel 6 using Google's own Tensor SoC, it might not be possible sad.gif

The Pixel 6 has 5G, which provides faster speeds than 4G. But depending on the model you get, your new Pixel 6 may or may not have the most optimal 5G speeds available. Why? Because some Pixel 6 models have a network technology called mmWave and others don’t. They use a different 5G technology called Sub-6. In other words, all the Pixel 6 models are 5G, but the type you get will be different depending on where you buy it from.

G9S9B is mmWave-capable
GB7N6 only has Sub-6 5G meaning the “lesser” version of 5G

I received notification from digi to upgrade my phone since it doesn't have Volte. Pixel 3. Not that it doesn't support, more like digi only activates volte on phones that are officially available in Malaysia. Most of them anyways. This is the only issue that makes me wary of getting the phone.

Pretty standard reseller pricing from Techbug given they are able to bring in a few units for early adopters.

Looking at the majority, i doubt they are willing to pay between RM3,099 for a Pixel 6 regular or RM4,399 for a Pixel 6 pro. It's better to wait for other resellers to announce their pricing before pulling the trigger.

I'm sold on the Pixel 6 pro Stormy Black 128GB model. Will grab it once T&L announces their prices in the coming 1 - 2 months (very likely in December 2021).

So far, malaysia only maxis phasing out 3g right? I believe digi and celcom still have use the 3g spectrum?

Yes, they will likely slash the price anywhere between RM100 - RM300 depending on the discount amount offered by Google during Black Friday/Boxing Day sales. Again, it depends on the reseller to fix the price themselves as to how much profit margin they want to take.

Patience counts.

Usually Google offers up to USD50 - USD150 off the retail price during these two celebratory days.

Parking in this thread. Pixel 6 looks very tempting and if we're to look at their launch price, it's very competitive. $599 and $899 compared to similar phones from other manufacturers. Not talking about AP units selling price la, as sellers will need to mark up.

Side note - Amazon is selling Spigen cases for reasonable prices that ship to Malaysia cheaper than the Spigen official website.

I've purchased my Pixel 5 case & tempered glass protector previously without any customs issues (See below invoice as proof):

These are the items i will purchase from Amazon:

1) Spigen Ultra Hybrid - Crystal Clear for Pixel 6 Pro

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Ultra-Hybrid-...34700963&sr=8-2

2) Tempered Glass protector - I am still waiting for Omoton Tempered Glass to be available as they were rated as the best overall for the Pixel 5.

If anyone wants to ride upon my Amazon purchase, please let me know and i can offer to do a bulk purchase and we can spread out the shipping costs.

6 looks really good spec/price wise but the bezel so thick and not really compact/lighter than 6 pro sigh

Guess I will get the pro if considering pixel 6 . Roughly $599 and $899 will be about rm2800 and rm4000 when reach here ? Nvm saw the pricing from Techbug yikes

Nay ... Width is the same , but 6 bezel is definitely chunkier like those on iphones . 6 pro is kinda like Samsung/Huawei slight curved edge which looks more premium

Can any Pixel users here confirm that VoLTE feature really does not get supported from any local operators (Maxis, DiGi, UMobile) here in Malaysia?

For example: I'm currently using Huawei P20 Pro and I found out my VoLTE is not enabled even though my VoLTE setting on my phone is already turned on. After notifying Maxis customer service, they issued my problem as a case and a technical personnel called and told me that he had already enabled VoLTE for me. And just like that my phone now have VoLTE feature enabled.

Is it just me or other hate the curve screen on the Pro version. I still remember my latest curve screen Galaxy Note.

Its so hard to find a tempered glass for it in the end, i just leave it naked then got broke.

Is this a deal breaker for anyone here? But i really love to get the pro version.

I have Honor View20 and VOLTE is working fine from celcom. Pixel is the reference standard for Android. I think it's just local telco being crap at best.

Pixel 6 Pro 128GB = USD899
FedEx International Economy shipping: USD115
Customs/Tax + SIRIM = RM 150?

Total estimate: RM4,438 (cost of phone + international shipping) + RM150~ (customs/tax/SIRIM) = RM4,588.

It's more or less the same price if you purchase from a reseller here who will handle the warranty process for 12 months.

Question. Would there be any issues in band supported when using US phone in Malaysia ? Reason asking is long time back bought moto x from US to be used in Malaysia and some of bands are not usable and some bands used in Malaysia is not built in the phone thus have some signal issues in some areas. Not sure if it's still the case nowadays hence asking.

thanks

Some folks are starting to be able to get their orders actually submitted, but are being met with absolutely insane delivery dates. Take this order that includes both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 6 in “Sorta Seafoam” won’t be delivered until December 22. But the Pixel 6 Pro in Stormy Black and with 128GB of storage won’t be delivered until January of 2022.

now a days wont be any issue for 4g since most chipset support all band already. Just 5G later nedd to test but most likely is covered too. Aside from that is just that if volte is supported or not since that one is more on sw setting not chipset sweat.gif

well the shortage will make us wait more longer ... and suddenly it is s22 season already hahaha whistling.gif

It looks like Google US online store has re-stocked on the Google 6 and 6 Pro's.

If you were to place a pre-order now, the estimated delivery date will be 1st week of December 2021 for Standard/Priority shipping and earliest Nov 30 for Expedited shipping. Literally a day's difference at an additional USD14 or USD19.

https://store.google.com/us/product/pixel_6_pro?hl=en-US

user posted image

I have read on Reddit forums on buyers based in USA have also expressed the same dissapointment that their pre-orders have been delayed from mid Nov 2021 to first week of Dec 2021 in some cases ordering from Google US online store. Whereas for some other buyers who went to brick and mortar retailers such as Best Buy, they were informed by the staff that they don't have physical stock in hand and is only expected to recieve the first batch "in the coming weeks".

URL: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/commen...n_google_store/

So, what does this all mean for us as a end customer/potential buyer? Just be patient since stock availability seems to be affecting both online and offline Retailers alike. In the meantime, we can digest the first hand reviews when the embargo is lifted on 25 Oct before deciding to make a purchase or not.

*
it is effecting all users ... samsung got the fever and now google too.

well like you said wait for the embargo and see what is the review later ... but then again it may reach our shore next year maybe and at that time hopefully SG has open the border and at least we have option of buying from SG

I chat with digi CS just now regarding volte and according to her 3g will only be off once they launch 5g, which is estimated next year. I asked if they haven't launch 5g by year end, will 3g still be available next year and was given non-committal answer and link to JENDELA. Lol.
Also if phone doesn't have Volte, network connection will drop to 2g during calls once 5g is launched.

anyone know how is the pixel 6 pro curved screen compare to one plus 7t pro?

is the curve angle similar, or lesser (towards more flat)?

hmm...seems so

For the first time ever, Google’s new phones are powered by a Google-designed chip, giving the company an Apple-like level of control over the inner workings of the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. But if you were hoping that meant they’d also get an Apple-like level of new OS updates, the company is throwing a bit of cold water on that. Google’s support page shows it’s only promising to offer Android updates through October 2024 (via Android Police), a total of three years after release.

“Users will still get at least 3 years of OS updates, after which we’re committing to ensure that Pixels will stay up-to-date and secure,” Google tells The Verge. “The frequency and categories of updates will depend on the capabilities and needs of the hardware.”

While Google prominently announced during its Tuesday keynote that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro would get five years of security updates — two years more! — it seems that Android version updates (like Android 11, Android 12, etc) are another story. And though Google is technically saying it will offer new versions of Android until “at least” October 2024, the company hasn’t historically gone above and beyond those sorts of promises.

Yup.

There's alot of chatter on the Reddit forums saying that the Pixel 6/6 Pro demo units have/have not updated their camera software hence why some of the photos/videos aren't looking as "good as what Google claims". It also would probably explain why Google enforced the dual embargo on the media to only release a "first impressions" excluding camera features/sample shots on 19 Oct because their engineers were busy working on a camera update to be pushed out in time for the 25 Oct "full review" embargo is removed.

Interesting times we live in when it comes to rushed hardware & software.

On the flipside, here's a new interesting video comparing the Google Pixel 6 Pro vs Apple Iphone 13 Pro that gives us a better look at some real life scenarios when using both phones to take photos (spoken language is Chinese):

volte will use internet to do the calling it is consider voip calls. So the telco will free the voice channels. The thing is i dunno what will be happening if the set dont support volte when the telco force the call to be a volte call.
but rationally they can force all voice call to be on 2g since there is no issue there just the main concern on later how they force the handling of voice call when there is no 3g and seems like all voice call will fallback to volte

rclxub.gif

seems we will have to wait for the first user to get the set in Malaysia to test it out

I have heard we can request carriers that already have Volte to provision it for Pixels? Perhaps those on Maxis/Digi etc can contact them and try it out? Also heard that swapping your sim card to a currently enabled Volte phone here to activate it then swap back will work sweat.gif unsure.gif

It's quite essential mostly for my usage.

When Im playing game and a call comes in, answer or not my game won't run without volte. Or,

I'm on a call and simultaneously I need to search online for something. Or scrolling thru Facebook on a long phone call

I have heard we can request carriers that already have Volte to provision it for Pixels? Perhaps those on Maxis/Digi etc can contact them and try it out? Also heard that swapping your sim card to a currently enabled Volte phone here to activate it then swap back will work sweat.gif unsure.gif

dont think will work also since the volte toggle is not available rclxub.gif

I'm a DiGi subscriber and my phone is not in the VoLTE supported phone. What I did was to call CS and asked them to manually activate it (nowadays can easily enabled from MyDiGi app). Then I enabled VoLTE option from my phone. Walla, VoLTE is now enabled (and when im at home i noticed it uses VoWiFi).

Nope. Dropped to H/3G. No toggle in phone settings or digi app. When i was using a phone supported by digi for Volte, there's a toggle to activate / deactivate Volte in the digi app itself.

Alright, time to finally switch to Pixel. Currently using S10+. Any reason to pick Pixel 6 Pro over the regular 6? Besides the telephoto, bigger batt, better resolution (i dont really care for the bigger screen, reso is more important). I am leaning towards regular Pixel 6 due to flat screen.

From my experience with my S10+ curved screen, it really is not a good time, had TG glass on and my phone fell and the glass+screen still crack at the edge.

I have the same issue with curve screen also ... and now with on screen finger print you cant put a TG on the screen since the fingerprint sensor cant pick it up.
As for me that was the biggest let down for p6 pro sweat.gif

Wait for the media and real user reviews to become available from tomorrow onwards.

I expect that a large majority of reviewers will recommend the regular Pixel 6 as a value buy as paying the additional USD300 premium for the Pixel 6 pro is quite a hardsell.

It depends on which retailers the resellers are buying it (US - Target, Best Buy, etc or UK - Carphonewarehouse, B&H, etc) or direct from Google US online store and whether those retailers are able to honor the free Google Pixel Buds A together given they are limited a X quantity per single account.

I'd say if you can get the Pixel Buds A with your Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, it will be a good deal as you can potentially resell them for RM400 or RM500 in the secondary market.

Yes, to date only 2 resellers i've seen to date are selling the bundled free Google Pixel Buds A for an additional RM50.

Well, if you want to order a Pixel 6/6 pro directly, i suggest to do your personal research on a reliable forwarder i.e https://www.buyandship.com.my, etc and try placing an order via Target, Best Buy, etc. Google US online store cancels shipping forwarders to my knowledge.

Doppatroll previously shared another forwarder that ships to Malaysia that you can consider below:

it is controlled at the cell tower / switch also because as I understand (I know people from telco that does this provision process) that telco need to provision it, so the 4g tower if not configured to recognize the Pixel phone it will not enable VoLTE, therefore no ROM bypass can enable this

it is controlled at the cell tower / switch also because as I understand (I know people from telco that does this provision process) that telco need to provision it, so the 4g tower if not configured to recognize the Pixel phone it will not enable VoLTE, therefore no ROM bypass can enable this

There's already a method of enabling volte on previous pixels by importing MBN file from a different phone with volte supported and already enabled to the pixel. But it requires root, you can find the method on xda. Users on fb group already tried it and able to make it work for Maxis, Digi, celcom. Hopefully the same method can work on P6 & P6 Pro

good to know then, perhaps it is a way to trick the telco to tell this is a Volte enabled phone. I had bad experience with Root, my Pixel 4XL phone got hacked and keep sending premium sms up to RM200 / month of phone bill. I usually vary of clicking any accept in the link however I just follow the normal rooting process to enable Soli Radar and call screening, but got hacked like that. After that I would not want to root anymore mad.gif

most likely u will need to root ... i see magisk somewhere there sweat.gif

i just got one more info from a friend of mine who involved in 5g roll out ... there might be a possibility that if unsupported phone the tower radios may not be optimize to the phone ... the result, when u are on 4g it might not auto pass back to 5g

ahhh malaysia network rclxub.gif

I don't think we need to worry much about 5G at this point. But not being able to make calls/bad quality calls on 2G is quite a concern though. But perhaps can just use dual sim standby huh? With one for 2G voice and another for 4G data?

I would strongly advice against rooting your pixel. You are basically opening up the phone to attacks, defeat the purpose of the flagship security built in, really not worth the trade off for enabling additional features.

Some videos / camera comparisons already available in YouTube i think. Really can't decide which one I want to go with, if I decide to buy. I like colours, size and flat screen of Pixel 6. It also easier on my wallet. But I also prefer Pixel 6 pro battery and screen resolution.

Edit : I think no videos yet. Embargo lifts around midnight. Such long time waiting for reviews.

And...the Google Pixel 6/6 Pro embargo is off.

The first media review goes to Mashable:

https://mashable.com/review/google-pixel-6-pro-review

And we've also got a proper Google Pixel 6 Pro vs Samsung S21 Ultra Photo and Video comparison:

*

And also a Google Pixel 6 Pro vs iPhone Pro 13 Max:

*

Lastly, for real user reviews, you can refer to this Reddit post from a user who's comparing it to his Pixel 4XL:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/commen...mpressions_and/

I will compile the Media and real user reviews in the first thread as they are being published for easy reference.

The onscreen finger print sensor is optical right ? Tempered glass shouldn't affect optical fingerprint unlock, if it is ultrasonic then ya maybe it will. The again I have tempered glass on my S10+ and the fingerprint sensor still works haha

normal screen protector is fine but tempered glass will be a bit tricky

it won't cover the side curve and might uncomfortable for ur fingers too. it can be easily peel off from the curve too

very hard to find good tempered glass, and also when applying UV-cured tempered glass, if installed wrongly the glue will enter your ear piece making it permanently damaged. And even if you have tempered glass, if the phone fall and land at then edge (curved side), it will surely break. Not to mention the accidental touch when using the phone. And finally, if you want to replace it, it is very expensive, even my S10+, to replace from samsung charge RM 780 (can check from their official website).

Now, imagine if you break your pixel 6 pro glass, can you imagine the trouble you need to go through to get it replaced?

So, ya that's why I pre-order the regular 6 instead.

I think brand like Spigen offer good protection to the side. but yeah nothing is perfect, for me I will use the phone for 2 years , and a 20x zoom is really handy. If I go travel I would prefer to just use the smart phone instead of carry mirrorless camera. The last I check that my pixel 4xl takes better photo most of the times than my mirrorless Fuji x-t20 blush.gif

So i think the drawback is worth it. Depends how you weight the drawbacks

I'm using a Spigen one and it still broke my tempered glass + phone glass, thankfully didn't destroy my LED haha. Regarding the zoom, ya it really helps if you need it, but personally I seldom use the zoom function so the lack of telephoto lens is fine for me. So really depends what you need lah haha. To me it doesn't justify the extra 1.2k, but if you have the budget then by all means biggrin.gif

whats the prolem with curve screen? worry screen protector not able to fit?
*
on my op 7t pro, the side like easily got trigger when i holding it compare to my previous phone (iphone X i think)

then on some app, when some trigger button is on the side edge, seems i will hit the back button instead of the button i want to click

I dont really know how to explain it in words, and not really sure is it caused by curved screen or not, but thinking to try flat screen and see if the same prob occurs

Decided to take pixel 6 pro from mate 20 pro. So curved screen is no issue for me. And yes I have spent more than hundred ringgit on the fking tempered glass. No matter how good the screen protector definitely will have bubble or slight crack at side.

Before m2p was using pixel 1 xl. Finally switching back to pixel for good. The only thing I miss is unlimited google photo storage. Otherwise will be perfect phone for me.

Another Pixel and real user reported issues are slowly popping up that should be well noted for new Pixel owners or seasoned Pixel owners such as myself.

1) Tempered glass screen protectors and compatibility issues with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro's finger print scanner

- Users who have recieved their Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones early are complaining that cheap or even more expensive tempered glass screne protectors render the optical finger print scanner a hit or miss

- Solution? Purchase a TPU plastic screen protector as glass screen protectors adhesive or gap between the screen and glass protector seems to affect the effectiveness of the finger print scanner

Example of a TPU screen protector that works with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro's finger screen scanner:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09F5QKKWX/ref=...SQDP7JKV3RSRXAY

https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/commen...ng_with_screen/

2) Fast charging and USB A to USB C/USB C to USB C cable compatibility

- If you recall how Apple started to promote the usage of using only original cables & chargers or OEM approved to be compatible with their phones, Google seems to be doing the same starting with the 6

- Solution? Use a Power Delivery supported charger and a USB C to USB C cable instead of a USB A to USB C cable

- A Google Tech Specialist elaborates below:

"USB-A is limited to an absolute maximum of 5V 2A (though more typically 5V 0.5A) - unless you're using a proprietary rapid-charging protocol (like Qualcomm's QuickCharge), which Pixel phones have never supported.

The only rapid charging which Pixel's support is the Power Delivery spec that goes along with USB-C.

You can probably slowly charge your Pixel 6 off of the USB-A charger if the phone is powered off but, like Jim mentioned, that charger isn't going to provide the phone with enough power to charge the battery while the phone is turned on. I imagine the battery would drain at about the same rate it was charging and that is TERRIBLE for a battery's long-term health.

I know that having to buy new modern accessories for your new phone kind of sucks, but do yourself a favor and pick up a couple of PD-capable chargers. They can be had for pretty cheap, and you'll be glad to have them."

Note: Stickied this post to the first thread page as a warning/heads up for early adopters. Don't get caught up in the hype and ignore your own personal research as it could easily save you a few hundred bucks along the way

My Ugreen dual fast charger work both on my old 3xl and s20+ both will have rapid charging ... so i guess it will work on P6. Btw imho it is better to get c to c cable since it make more sense now as most phone ships with c to c cables

Sharing a useful and practicle article to help those trying to decide whether to pick and Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro - is paying an additional USD300 for the Pixel 6 Pro (or RM1,400+ in our reseller market) over the regular really worth it?

Makes sense to me since i read my ebooks between my iPad Mini 5 and Pixel 5 interchangeably.

Having a curve screen is a red flag for me aswell especially when reading plain text edge to edge and having it sloping downwards making it ineligible.

Being so, i have decided to purchase the regular Pixel 6 over the Pixel 6 pro. A flat screen is more practical & functional overall.

Since Google Singapore is only going to sell the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro officially next year onwards, for all warranty claims you will need to send it back to Google Singapore to have it repaired if your device is DOA or fails to work within the 12 month warranty period.

If you do not wish to put effort to send your phone back to Google Singapore, then your only alternative is either:

i) Self repair the phone yourself ala DIY (plenty of DIY/iFixit videos will be available to follow)

ii) Look for a reliable person to repair your phone locally in Malaysia (this one will be a coin toss up to find)

no issue i think ... heck im using 65w and charging 2 phones ... but eventually the charger will split to a lower watt i think when charging 2 phones it will be 18w + 45w according to the spec sheet.

the main think is when plugged in ... it shows fast charging whistling.gif

I went with Pixel 6 as well, and order from J Shao.

Looks like I'm not the only one avoiding curve screen.
It do look nice, but other than that I don't really see the benefit of a curve screen.
If you're planning to use tempered glass, curve screen is a big no.

Seems like orders from US currently would probably arrive around Jan, so might as well wait for Singapore units..?

I did a complaint 2 years ago to my telco Digi about VoLTE for pixel support, I did again yesterday they told me to email them as a request so I did, can't put too high hope they will do it, but I believe is enough noise that may change things.

Surprised that mkbhd's battery review is not favourable when other reviewers reported good battery life. Was also hoping that he would touch more on the camera true tone feature but didn't notice any.

3 hour+ SOT is really sad by today's standard. But then again it really depends what did he do during the 3 hours. If he's shooting 4k videos left and right then more likely I guess

we can take a pinch of salt with such review. if 10 people say the SOT sucks then probably it is, but if 1/2 say so and 1/2 says its good, then just it really depends on the usage. I wouldn't concern too much, Pixel this round comes with large battery and all the software with tensor to optimise the power consumption, logically it should not perform that bad.

Battery life is a let down for such a promising device. Will skip it for this year. I feel Pixel devices sure got very obvious downside every release.

I see, ok in that case it doesn't look good then. The 120hz screen will sure drain up power faster on the pixel 6 pro to make it worst

higher resolution with higher refresh rate in bigger screen p6 pro does take more resources compare to normal p6 but the extra mAh in p6 pro should able to take it though

hope google able to iron out the battery consumption in next update.

Also, the p6 pro has an LTPO panel can drop down the refresh rate to 10hz when there's no interaction with the screen or depending on the content shown. While the panel on the p6 is only dynamic between 60hz and 90hz.

didnt have high hope, but making noise is better than not. Hopefully can get these telco to work on VoLTE for Pixel. I used to work for telco last time before iPhone 1 is launch they already have 1 in their testing lab to test all the telco network function. I guess they also need to do the same for Pixel phones. Reason they don't care is because the number of Pixel users here are too low for them to bother. mad.gif

Seems like there's a bit of mystery around this. Some reviewers are getting mkbhd's SOT(3-4 hours), some are getting 8-10 hours SOT. Not sure what's going on

I think VoLTE support is issue on Google's side. With current Pixels and OnePlus, you can actually get VoLTE to work, once it is enabled by the telco, you need to use the Qualcomm software to tweak the modem mbn files and it will enable VoLTE. Not much that the telco can do, either they need to provide the appropriate mbn file to Google for official support, or Google needs to reach out to get the appropriate mbn file, but they are not selling their phones here so there is no incentive for google to do that here. But before this we could use the Qualcomm tool to workaround to get VoLTE support, but now they are no longer using Snapdragon so that is still a question mark. But also apparently it is using a Samsung modem so hopefully they also took all the mbn files from Samsung and VoLTE will work here natively like Samsung phones, but just wishful thinking haha

I saw the tweet and laugh a little. Maybe 5g / 4g / wifi connectivity contribute to the differences. So far I haven't seen reviews with battery life as bad as mkbhd but he always says he sets his screen brightness to max and he's pretty hard on the phone.

It's pretty common for some lemon units to have these OLED panel issues out of the box regardless if it's from Samsung or LG.

Sounds like it's the Pixel lottery all over again since the days of the Pixel 2. Let's hope that nobody's unit is affected or it'll be a pain to RMA.

My pixel 6 got stuck in Sepang Customs because sirim rejected my import permit application. they rejected it because Pixel 6 uses Wifi 6E which is not allowed in Malaysia.

how to solve this?

yes suprising , even Huawei and Xiaomi did so much better than Google. Considering Google is a giant tech company.

Giant tech company cant even launch their phone in more than 10 countries in first wave.

I guess hardware isnt their strength after all.

Since the nexus time, they are managed by other brands, Huawei did a good job by selling the nexus locally I got 1 myself. It was a great built phone with probably the best camera in that generation. for this very reason that Hardware is not their strength , they acquired HTC and later they develop their own Tensor chip which is good departure from Snapdragon so actually they are improving and try to close the gap with the other flagship, but I think it is not entirely about hardware to be blame, their marketing is just unable create the demand and hype. unfortunately

Wow .. may need to pull the brake as no indication yet on the approval of 6gHz

More accurately - distribution isn't their strength.

That is why its safer to wait and see, if those independent reseller like shirogawa can bring it in successfully then it will be best. Self importing is high risk.

at first when they releasing nexus, they never aim to be a top smartphone maker

they always release new features on nexus/pixel and dump it in next generation. best example is pixel 4 with radar motion then gone in pixel 5 sweat.gif

nexus/pixel is like an experiment to them or perhaps "data collector"

Looking at both Shirogawa's and Techbug's sales fulfillment, it seems like they are doing pretty alright in getting their Pixel 6 (regular model) shipped and estimated to arrive KL by mid Nov.

If you follow Techbug's telegram group, they just updated at 5pm they have another handful of Pixel 6 regular models incoming by mid November if anyone is interested in ordering:

the problem is not about getting it earlier than others, the OP mentioned that SIRIM rejected the P6 due to the wifi 6e have not gotten MCMC approval. Therefore it will be stucked at Kastam indefinitely (god knows when)

I noticed that even Mi 11 as well as the Fold3 and the new Asus Rog phone has 6E so.. makes me wonder why? Probably because P6 is not officially sold here in the first place?

Not really, Last time i order bluetooth earbuds from Amazon also got stuck with Kastam & SIRIM.
The forwarder just sent me SIRIM email person in charge of the item so i just contact sirim guys via email and and send him spec. When he confirm the price, i paid and they send me SIRIM cert and i forward the cert to forwarder and it got instant release from kastam. No need to attend to their counter.

I know there is alot of work flowing here and there but all this just within a week and i get my item delivered to me the following first day of the week.

The flip form factor is exciting but dies off very fast. After using it for 1 month +, I find the candy bar form factor still suits me the most. P6Pro seems interesting.

However I need to sell off my phone only can get P6 Pro.
If I can't sell off by 11/11, I will keep it
