I live by the code that to FIRE you must practice delayed gratification. Not doing delayed gratification is not the traditional way of FIRE. Feet to the pedal, nose to the grinder. Do not let go until you are FAT FIRE. That's how the OG FIRERs do it. If they can do it, why I am being weak and not able to have no life for a while? Is it that hard to continue having no life when you are already having no life?

do what you must... but do take off to smell the roses... dont make your FIRE a hallowed victory... as the saying goes, the journey is often more important than the destination...

bad school bad teacher bad job bad bosses quite likely contributed to your 'obsession' with lean FIRE... recognize that some things are time sensitive and should not be delayed...

There’s really no right or wrong in life. The only the choice of not living with regrets.

Have you heard the story?
A person on a bicycle admires someone driving a Proton.
The Proton driver admires a Honda.
The Honda driver admires a BMW.
The BMW driver admires a Ferrari.
The Ferrari driver admires someone with a private plane.

But then, the person with the private plane admires the one on the bicycle. Why?

Because the bigger the income, the bigger the responsibility. The bigger the lifestyle, the bigger the stress. Managing a big business is never a one-man show, it means managing large teams, solving endless problems, and sacrificing not just energy but also precious family time.

I once met a family member earning only 30K per annum, with a housewife spouse and five kids. Yet they lived happily. I asked him why. He told me: “Every night we have dinner together, even if it’s simple. We go out as a family, even if it’s just free activities like swimming at the community pool, playing badminton at the public court, jogging at the park, or a football kick-about at the open field. What matters is we spend time together.”

So in the end, what really matters is not how “hard” we push, but whether we can look back and say: I lived without regrets, and I cherished the people and moments that truly mattered.

What if the family member actually earns RM300k per anum and only spends RM30k for himself and family? Good or bad?

The one with 30k per annual can be happy now, but once they encounter a situation when they need money (example accident happens need big amount of money to do surgery, kids need money to go college, etc), they will suffer.

May be the data they used :
1. SG = average person's target of retirement
2. MY = rich people's target of retirement

If SG one using rich's people target same as Malaysia, then the target would be a lot higher than Malaysia?

Need to see why are they like that. Maybe FIRE journey not reach yet (like me). If reach, can ease off. If haven't reach I am fully supportive of living like that as that is what I am doing more or less.

No need to check everyday. Won't change much. Check everyday only if you want to buy things. Unless too free and too obsessed with money.

I just glance at them for around 5m/day. Go though my watchlist and see if any thing is on sale

Really can buy back time ? Ask all the seniors whether it is possible ? All the other things we done and all the things we done wrongly can also reset ?
