Any idea how much is the difference between the 8800GTS 320MB and the 8800GT?

With the price at this : 256mb : usd179-199, it would roughly be a lil less than the price we are able to get for the GTS from BULK currently..

Would the GT be better than the 320MB?

Nope. I think GT is a solution for Nvidia to sustain GTS price.

don't compare wif synthetic benchmark..see in real world gaming..u can see alot of different rclxms.gif
see a different between 1900xtx(my friend) n 8800gts(mine)
3dmark05
1900xtx=13k
8800gts=14k

3dmark06
1900xtx=6k
8800gts=8k
in real gaming,we both play DIRT all in ultra setting wif 1024*768..
he's xtx ony can get 28fps in average.min 21fps max 40
mine gts can get 45fps in average.min 35fps max58fps
i don't care about benchmark..what important is the real gaming bro..play games is  the first priority when we buy a gc biggrin.gif
*
lol why don't u compare that xtx with nvidia's highend dx9 card..

by the way i'm gaming @ 1280x1024.. by everage 30fps...
i don't have super eyes.. any above 24fps will just do find.. even CoH got 40+..
i found only cpu holding me back when gaming latest games..

i'm just aspecting more around 16k maybe.. coz the benchmark done on Qcore..

Look at the new 3DMark05 score @ 19K which is on E6600 only, and 12K on 06, which already surpassed GTS320 score. But then synthetic benchmark won't show the true power of the card. Hope people can do some gaming tests on it.

I do agree that for gaming, framerates is more important than benchmarks. I tested the 8800 Ultra in C2D and AMD S939, still during CS: Source, the gameplay is better on C2D. AMD still has got some jerks abit. All at stock settings. I suspect its bcoz the AMD was a single core 3000+ doesn't does the justice of comparison. Will try on my AM2 x2 3600+ later to c the difference. Will try COH and stalker this weekend too.

something doesnt feel right...

QUOTE
The website Mobile01 said that 8800GT @ Q6600 can hit a really good score: 3DMark03: 35351/ 3DMark05: 14679

with a quad its getting 14.6k. my score with e6850 & 8800GTS 320MB SINGLE card is 16.7k. all at stock..now this score looks logical to me.

but with a dual core E6600 @ 3.6 its getting 19k. 19k is what im getting with stock clocks on E6850 and 8800GTS 320MB SLI!

with E6600 @ 3.6 the 06 scores was 12k....i asked VT-Ten and his 06 score on E6850@3.6 with SINGLE 8800GTS 320MB was 12k. and he also doesnt think the scores are right.

are the 3dmark settings in the tests at stock or 'tweaked'???

hmm.gif

i still find it rather odd for a card thats meant to be one step down from the GTS to be able to achieve equal or possibly higher marks... especially when its a single card GT vs SLI GTS.

I didn't bench the single core b4, but i tried SLI 8600GT with the C2D E6300, i get 3K plus for the CPU score and 7K+ for the GC score if i'm not mistaken.

no bro..i mean here is synthetic benchmark comparison.
i know,not fair i compare those xtx(old tech) wif gts(new tech)..
i mean that even xtx can cucuk angin gts in benchmark score,but fairly i said in gaming the gap between these card
so huge in some games,especially new games. Btw,,my friend pc spec is even higher than mine.
x2 5600 + ddr2 800 (2X1G) + mobo 590 sli + x1900xtx = my friend
e2140 @ 2.7G + ddr2 667(2X1G) + AW9D + 8800gts stock clock=mine
so my conclusion here..new tech is better than the old tech..
3dmark 05/06 is no means anything for me laugh.gif
it just a standard references and quick result to compare the card performance..but not to show the true quality
of the card itself sad.gif

G92 and RV670 are GPGPU monsters

ACCORDING TO THE LATEST information leaking from the Far East, both RV670 and G92 are conceptually almost identical to its predecessors R600 and G80, with one major change.

This change will not affect 3D performance, so you might want to skip the talk about higher 3Dmark scores. This change touches on the GPGPU (General Purpose computing on GPUs) concept. Ever since reading a certain brilliant book named GPU Gems (Vol. 1), I've been a staunch supporter of GPGPU. Now, it seems the idea is finally coming to life, since having double-precision units is a key requirement to rely on results calculated by the GPU.

We learned that G92 and RV670 are sporting dual-precision units (128, 112 or 96 to be available in G92, RV670 will have 320 units), albeit it is unknown what type of Binary Floating-Point formats are these units supporting. Who is supporting IEEE 754 format, 32-bit or 64-bit - time will tell.

Tesla and FireStream cards based on these GPUs will be quite interesting, when they appear. With around 350-450 GFLOPS available per card, there is little doubt that RV670 and G92 might be the GPUs that will break out the GPGPU ghost out of the mysterious place.

Truth to be told, ATI seems to have slight advantage, due to multi-GPU capabilities (CrossFire X: 2GPU, 3GPU, 4GPU setups). We'll see. ยต

112 SP 8800 GTS Works w/ 96 SP 8800 GTS In SLI

Nvidia has send out a notice to their AICs making clear to them not to market the new GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB as a card featuring 112 SPs although this should be quite a good selling point. Instead, card partners can brand the card as special edition or OC edition ie. GeForce 8800 GTS OC Edition. The new 112 SP 8800 GTS will still work fine with the 96 SP 8800 GTS in SLI configuration. Nvidia stress that they will not offer 112 SP 8800 GTS in 320MB memory configurations.

I don't think anybody knows yet. Needs real world games benchmark before anybody can say for sure.

For me, I would place my bet on the 8800GT......
