arghh... cant seem to pass 30mins of atitool's artifact test with memory speeds above 1015. Max I can go is 740/1015.
1020 fails artifact test but can loop 3dmark06 20 times |

well i'm assuming overclocking the core produces more improvement than memory. And also, although rivatuner says 742, the background monitoring shows as 729. Setting it to 743 causes it to jump to 756.

I didnt have time to check all the stores in Akihabara.. and the shops I went to didnt have the 7950GT.. which was disappointing.. I searched the net and Yahoo Auctions only gave me ONE item.. kakaku.com gave me THREE, and they cost round about 30,000yen (RM1k?).. if you ask me, you're better off getting the 8800GTS for that kinda of money.. same goes for the 7900GT, I'm afraid.. at 35000yen, I'll pass that and get the 8800..
There might or might not be a 9 series.. I mean, the naming is kinda weird.. what if they decided to do a 9800GTX? sounds familiar? I'm guessing they'll prolly come up with a new naming scheme.. as for the 8700's.. if it has 256-bit interface, it might be worth looking into.. otherwise, forget it.. the difference is very apparent.. |

Hi guys, Since im going to build a SFF/ HTPC.. so the heat generation is very important
Would like to ask a bit about the heat comparison of ATI vs Nvidia as I heard Nvidia generate greater heat compare to ATI. How true is that? |

QUOTE(slash @ Sep 14 2007, 05:37 PM) nope... shader clock ratio... heheh if u really want to test the limit of ure warrantty.. flash ure bios.. go to mvtech.. get a someoverclocked version of the 8800 bios and flash it. risky dude.. as some OC versions also have OC voltage on their gpu and mem which reminds me MSI 8600 vbios thing is cool with the option of pressing a button near the dvi for overclocked bios + increase voltage... till then no point wasting ure time. OC ure Proc and rams would benefit more. also attaching ram sink to where dude?? make sure u have a good airflow from the front of ure casing directly to ure GPU. also dude most ppl here in lowyat talk crap and dont even run everything overclocked 24/7 remember OC comes at a risk OCing ure gpu also increases heat on the casing... mobo etc... Ocing PCIE also increases ure mobo dieing soon. long run overclocking ure rams/PC.. better option clear the bottleneck instead of creating more gpu bottleneck |

ramsink attach to memory, since u say at high reso +AA it benefits. Cause I cant seem to get the mem speeds higher than 1025. The wierd thing abt atitool artifact test is even though the words there say no errors, the logfile balloons and is filled with "artifact detected" logs.
well, the oc speeds only kick in when game is loaded. I think I should just stick with my current speeds. Time to get my mind off this and head back to the books!! This post has been edited by slash: Sep 14 2007, 05:53 PM |

QUOTE(slash @ Sep 14 2007, 05:53 PM) The wierd thing abt atitool artifact test is even though the words there say no errors, the logfile balloons and is filled with "artifact detected" logs. Remember that each time artifacts are detected, you need to lower your OC and ALSO reset the artifact scanning (that means restarting the artifact scanning). If not, that's what will happen..... An easier and faster way to see whether any artifacts has occured is too look at the time the artifact scanner has been running (shown at the top of the 3D box) vs. the time no error has been detected. If the time no error has been detected is shorter, that means artifacts was detected prior to that.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Sep 14 2007, 07:34 PM |
