I have no idea why people tend to keep saying marble & furniture sound are all from ghosts. YOU'RE THE GHOST.

I have been disturbed by neighbors from one place to another and I can tell you all these are caused by bastards.

Previously was the worst , every single night, downstairs neighbor who has 3 toddlers non-stop playing screaming and shouting in the room I can hear them clearly, and yet they dont admit, and they doing it on purpose cause we have been complaining for so long. They know we hear them and yet keep doing still, then the parents also nonstop dragging the chairs until we cannot tahan then moved out. We had been disturbed them for 5 freaking years, even reported to police.

Then currently this new place, I'm already at 2nd highest floor, yet the stupid upstairs neighbor, 2 chinese 2 indians, renting rooms, each of them have 1 dining chairs for their "work station". Imagine they everyday nonstop walking already causing heavy footsteps noise, dont know why can ppl walk so loud like elephant, keep pushing and dragging the chair when they get up or sit down.

Oh, they also like to move the chairs everywhere, into the room etc, and they dont sleep, saw them cooking during 3AM too. Dont freaking tell me it's ghost cause all these doings are by freaking human. Especially got visitors. Not to mention also, recently they vacuum after 12AM.

Complaint them several times, bodoh punya lansi owner came tell us, "aiya the flooring of the building is very thin, is like that one, got ppl stay sure got noise. We use office chair got wheel one leh". The first time when got noise I already went up talk to them nicely saw them using all dining chairs, still wanna lie.

At last, quiet for a month, asked them to use the felt pad for their chairs, then immediately told us they have bought the felt pad, but then after a month, the noise came back. So they lied, never buy at all. Wow, but at least not as noisy before, but still I'll monitor, I have a feeling they will be noisy again.

U can play loud radio during the day to prevent them from sleeping in the day.

My god, if you could hear your previous downstairs neighbors, they must have been frigging loud! I feel you..I’m currently dealing with elephant neighbor kids upstairs and next door…it’s mental torture with their stomping, jumping, dropping things, running. Meanwhile their elephant parents are too lazy to control them and don’t give a damn about my complaints.

Too many selfish and entitled bastards living in high rises, not to mention the shitty quality of our buildings.

Wow, this topic seems to be popular & the problem seems appearing over & over.

Back at year 2009, I was introduced to an acosutic technology known as sound masking. One the O&G gweilou wanted to installed the so called sound masking devices it at their new operation office. This sound masking device is a sound generator which generates wide range of sounds at different range of frequencies.

The layman term being used when the qweilou elaborated on how it works was, when 1 or 2 peoples are talking, we can hear their conversations as interrupting because we can understand what they are talking unwillingly, we can't block the sound becasue the sound travels. When we get more & more sounds of talking by making it up via artificiallly generated to 200~300 conversations at on time (using sound masking ), our brain cannot process so many sounds at once go, it actually make us "less intelligent" and the sorrounding sounds appear to be less disturbing.

I believe there should be a similar sound masking technology / devices in the market to cater for the sounds issue for the high rise community.

If you have already tried all methods & still not working , may be give this a try. I personally never tried but the gweilou said very effective.

It is an extra low voltage (ELV) device. ELV have the least risk of fire hazard to my knowledge.

have you tried posting angry notes on their door/ in their mailbox?

I've done this on a couple of noisy tenants and it worked. If they still stubborn, stick more and more notes until their mailbox full and their door is covered

Wanna do extra, use super glue. then the ugly remains of the paper stuck on their door

Tried talked to them f2f, complaint to management, called security guard, also talked to the owner (turns out to be their friend). All useless

Those here who said ghosts probably said that because of self-guilt denial. Meaning they got complaints on them before, so they try to blame the ghosts. Guilt denial.

If you want to stay in a condo, try to stay in a place where the flooring is thick. Some condos have thick flooring. But the newer ones are thin because they want to save costs.

That's why most want to stay in landed property, don't have to worry about above tenants noise. Some bought the top floor or pent house because of this too.

in all seriousness, I just want to participate in this discussion because I too have been on the receiving and giving end of this. I ask for my neighbors forgiveness , for I am too guilty of rocking the bed furiously over the weekend and occasionally the 2nd and 3rd week's Wednesday and Thursday.

Contact the unit 2 floors above you and pay them money to revenge for you, see if the middle unit still want to be a chibai.

That's the condo life I guess. It all truly depends on luck. You could be getting horror neighbors from left, right, upstairs which could cause you mental breakdown.

Confronting doesn't work? Either move out or pay someone more gangster than you to do the dirty work.
