Does anyone know if Sony TVs have MyTV built-in? My family often watch local channel (currently using web browser). If possible I don't want to use web browsers because a lot of time it's not stable (whole day 320p, suddenly cannot access channel, etc...).

I don’t use MyTV. From their website https://www.mytvbroadcasting.my/en/installation_guide/ it uses DVB-T2.
From Sony J series, looks like it supports DVB-T/T2
You still need to have the aerial antenna.

If you go for optical cable, does it means you lost the control of receiver from TV remote? I haven’t try Netflix. With Astro ultra box connected directly to tv hdmi 1, and hdmi 3 ARC to receiver, I don’t need to use receiver remote. Volume can be control from TV/astro remote. Receiver automatic wake up when I switch on TV and go to standby by itself when I switch off tv. I also plug in optical cable for backup. But when I unplug hdmi 3 cable, no audio coming out from my receiver via optical cable. Any different setting required from tv to switch from hdmi arc to optical output?

Update: I guess muted audio on optical output is due to DD+ settings in tv with hdmi arc. I read that optical output only support DD and not DD+.
*
Ya optical doesn't support DD+. Need set Dolby Digital Plus setting to Dolby Digital for using optical.
If using HDMI CEC for controlling receiver from TV, it should still work when using optical as long as CEC is not disabled.

I see. As long as CEC works can control the receiver. ARC is working well with my receiver. The issue receiver sometimes doesn’t wake up from standby is solved after masked HDMI pin 13 from Astro ultra box.

I found a good deal for X90J 65", or so I thought. Senheng is selling it at RM6599 with a 30% cashback (about RM1900). The cashback will be turned into S-Coins, and you can only use the S-Coins on their shops. The caveat is that I can only redeem a maximum RM100 per week. I was very close going to their shop last night to buy it sweat.gif sweat.gif

Cheapest so far I found is around RM5700 in Shopee, hopefully this week's Big Home Expo have better price for it.

Now I'm contemplating between X85J and X90J. Both are using VA panels, and the only big difference is the processor right? It's a big difference between these 2 models for 65" size.

X90J has local dimming. That's it's key feature. The X85J does not.

I was also looking for these two models. Major difference is processor, local dimming and true 10 bit depth panel vs 10 bits (8 bit + FRC) panel. In the end I get 65x85j during Lazada sales for 3.5k. I don’t play game, mostly parent watch Astro. I watch some Netflix when parent not watching Astro. I’m happy with it coming from 50” Panasonic 3D plasma tv.

I bought extended warranty for my previous Panasonic TV as it was more expensive. This time around I didnt buy. For peace of mind it is worth to get extended warranty.

Personally for me, the FALD also not the main difference since 65X90J only had 24 zones. Personally I choose 90J due to XR processing vs X1 on 85/80J

For me it depends on how often you buy a TV. I usually upgrade every 2-3 years so I don't get the extended warranty.

But I recently purchased the A90J, which is a bit pricy so I sprung for the extended warranty just in case.

On the other hand, I've purchased 3 Sony HDTVs in the past 10 years and they are all still working. You mileage my vary tho.

I wonder if these roadshow can beat online offer... Unless they are not interested to carry them back or want to clear room for new stocks.

This morning tried my usb dac from stoner acoustic and surprisingly works with X90J. I remembered it didnt work with Hisense Android TV. Now can hold back my urge to buy soundbar.

Tell us more about this stoner acoustic usb DAC.

I cannot find "stoner acoustic" in Lazada or Shopee.

Stoner sold them in garage sale few years ago. Was using it as soundcard but psu broke down and still haven't replaced them. This morning hand itchy and tried it with X90J and pleasantly surprised to see it was working really good. Now can use my Edifier S730 instead of the lousy tv built in speaker.

Have you try connect your speaker directly to your tv audio output jack? Probably it will work too but not as good as your dac.

It will work as well but SQ will be very different. Previously bought a ugreen bluetooth to pair to my speaker but didnt use because of stuttering in youtube with the Hisense. Was thinking trying with Sony but suddenly saw my dac and thought to try and see.

Ah sorry I didn't check this forum over the weekend. They didn't bring Sony into the expo. And to think back, I didn't see Sony brand on other expos as well (mostly, if not all).
