It'll take a long time to charge the phone cause its not a powered USB port. Usually it's only supplying 5VBUS 100mA (standard minimum) for bus powered devices like a thumb drive, etc. Our wall chargers are rated 4.8~5V but on a current supply of 900mA. Most powered USB ports can supply up to a maximum of 500mA. Some laptops have their USB port power channel ganged together to supply around 800mA ~ and above but that is very rare.

however.. that's atleast can maintain the phone power... let say we using it with BT GPS... and connect the phone using this setup... it will able to sustain for long time... right?

I'm afraid it won't be able to offset the amount of power drain when constantly using the LCD screen during navigation. Last Wednesday I had my phone charged to full after lunch time. When I got off my office, my battery was around 94%~. 1 hour into the jam due to the storm, I checked my battery and it is down less than 50%. Thats around 40%~ in just an hour plus. I don't think it will sustain it close to 99% with such a small power biasing from the USB plug. The best way is to buy a cigarette lighter plug that outputs to a USB connector. I think thats gonna be cheap from Novacell.

In this setup we have the following functions sucking power from the phone:

1. The MSM7200 primary ARM11 core - it will be working hard to render the map as we drive along the map and keep the screen updated. Thats why we need that stupid ATI IMAGEON working. Accelerators can do the job more efficiently.
2. Bluetooth component of the MSM7200
3. Baseband communication of the MSM7200 ARM9 secondary core
4. Screen running at default 50% brightness

So I think the best we can do is to turn off mobilephone radio (defeats the purpose of a phone though) and reduce screen brightness to the lowest tolerable setting.

Best is to have that cigarette lighter to keep the phone charged at all times when doing navigation. Or have two battery packs. RM80 is a pretty good price.

You can go Programs->AutoProfile and select your service operator.

Or have you already done that and there is a problem with your MMS?

You're welcome! tongue.gif

To set different sound for sms, mms or e-mail, you can do the following:
1. Start->Settings->Sounds & Notifications.
2. Then go to the Notifications tab. You can set your event and what sound you want for each of the events.
(The available sound for selection are from wav files found in the Windows folder)

how over expensive? should this PDA phone with packed features and sell to you at RM1299???? if like this, ks20 doesnt need people like us to sell, it will sell by its own. please judge the price accordingly. Try looking at HTC one arent they more expensive? retailing at RM1888 and my price? sheesh...

Yeah...actually with all the features available in KS20, the price of it is really considered a bargain! You cannot compare a PDA phone with the normal phones. KS20 is the cheapest compared to other PDA phones of the same league.

Seaedge, wah... your price for KS20 is very good leh. I bought mine for much higher than that... well I got it within the first week it was released la. Cannot tahan ma... must get my hands on this beauty ma... hehe. No regrets though.... love the phone!

Hi al3xband, there is already a discussion on the memory for program (RAM) in this forum. Apparently everyone is also getting the same thing. You can go here to read more-> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/513549/+180

As for software in my KS20, they are as below:
- Pocket Informant for PIM - not free but I got it free during one of their promotions
- PHM RegEdit for registry tweak - free
- FoxitReader for reading pdfs - free
- Skype for IM (can't use for VOIP call in KS20 though)- free
- Octopus Studio MDict for english dictionary - free
- CooTek TouchPal for input keyboard - free
- TCPMP for watching videos (avi or flv) - free

Yup, me here is using one such setup. All I can say it is viable. However, battery drain will be a drag. One hour consumes typically around 40% of battery life (based on WM battery status). You will need a in-car cigarette lighter plug to charge it. No official LG products for this but we can find compatibles ones that can output 4.8~5V 500mA~ (not exceeding 900mA). This information can be obtained from your wall charger specifications. As long as you maintain within the specified ratings, you are safe.

The bad news is most flagship PDAphones that appeals to the general consumer are expensive. But for a new Windows Mobile device using a powerful enough platform and still pack into a slim form factor, the price is worth it. You can't compare with other smartphones because it is a PDA phone. At RM1888 you'll be knocking the head trying to find one PDA device with specifications that suits your needs and still be slim enough to be pocketed.

Maybe their intended primary market isn't targeted to people who feel it is expensive. You'll have better chances in the secondary market or wait for the price to drop. I'm fairly confident it will. The LG KS20 will join the ranks of affordable PDA phones in a few months.

You can try the earlier version of Core Player - TCPMP 0.71RC2. It is a stable beta and available for free including streaming capability. Rendering in direct draw, frame buffer and GDI mode for videos are very smooth unlike the choppiness of the standard media player. TCPMP was on a beta development until the program matured and now available for a fee.

Yes, the version 10c (the one we're using) is having GAPI and direct draw problems. But in my opinion, it could be the software is required to be optimized for MSM7200 and the lack of graphic drivers to begin with. So expect this to be fixed on the coming revisions. Lets hope LG would do it.

if u are install programs that is for your pda performance and daily usage, please do not install it into memory card. but if your case, its not normal if you install both prog into memory card and your storage only left 35mb instead of 50mb if im not mistaken.

1. if the RAM is good, yes the sensitive is good.
2. the lag will be obvious up to 1.5sec, that is IF your RAM is all jammed up.
3. yes, no reset button. 2 choice, one is you try looking in the manual book, one is install shutXP(freeware) with reboot, standby and switch off.

KS20 has the problem with the graphic display since it is only for video recording. not only you suffer, any MSM7200 equipped pda suffers as well. explaination is as given by davidmak, but if you are hoping for fix, it wouldnt be by LG.
