Thanks for the tip bro? Any idea if someone is doing a bulk in the sales section? I checked, none. I guess I'll probably order online then. RM75 is quite worth it to protect the shiny shiny area. Hehehe! tongue.gif

I hope there's a new custom ROM that would free out the RAM that is not seen from the system menu. I suspect LG set a large memory pool for this ROM so that everything will be cached or something. Available program memory (RAM) is 80MB++ and after start-up only has around 39MB++ free. Around 41MB already used up by some services and program liao. But still missing 128-80 = 48MB though. Don't know where it goes or doing.

Although the screen is 2.8" standard aspect ratio, it will need a custom cut screen protector to cover the rest of the front screen surface. I guess it'll same some weeks for 3rd party manufacturers to put out their product. Frankly speaking, LG KS20 isn't quite a hit model yet so they are not obligated to rush into production. Use the standard 2.8" screen protector in the mean time.

I can't stand the protective film because it is easily scratched and produces some glaring and fading when working in the sunlight. Taking it out feels so much better to the eyes.

well, hope is nothing if you dont have any rom chefs for it. 2nd thing is the support for the drivers. well, if we have the original ROM from LG, we can ask xda-dev's rom chef for help in producing one. that 48mb is another question, maybe their bundle software used up the memory, maybe not.

thats why i recommend to buy U1000's screen protector. U1000 is 5" screen, go i guess its more than enough to cut it urself... wink.gif
if not MFS is a really good brand for SP, only price is expensive. well, glaring and fading... i would say SP are the same as well, not sure about MFS. and fading in sunlight is normal for PDA phone, because of the LCD, not SP. and for glaring, yes it is related to which SP is used.

I got to know from another xda-developers that the WM6 itself would rob a maximum of 50MB from the program memory depending on ROM configuration. So maybe that explains why it is 'invisible' from the user and only left 80MB+ on the program memory. But I don't understand why the default programs itself would take more than 50% of the available program memory when there's nothing running as reported by Memmaid. If it is used for caching, then how do they explain the 50MB used by WM6 (it is true)?

Still I don't see any performance enhancement from doing this because the TyTN II which has the same core specifications has over 100MB+ free program memory but just as fast and light as the KS20. So there's much research need to be done to understand what is the reason for this 'partitioning'.

Anyway Martin Field is a good brand but just expensive. In fact too expensive for a piece of plastic. The problem is that we need some form of protection now especially for the rear shiny casing. Martin Field seems to be the only choice right now because I don't see any 3rd party products yet. Or wait till the screen/body protectors are available before buying the phone? Hahaha!

its hidden. i am not sure about the 50mb part. but from my d810, the total memory in phone i have is 70mb storage and 49mb program respectively. even for my RAM, i lose out 16mb but it has been regain from my storage when i install this cooked rom. if not, my storage is only 50mb or so with 40mb free storage. well.. not too sure about it anyway, i leave to the experts.

I will update from time to time the pricing of the accesories & parts. I am pretty saddened though LG came out with nice phone but respond to my enquiries do not meet my expectation - slow and troublesome.

Anyway, here are the two items that I managed to KOREK them for price, the number is parts number so you can get it direct from LG or Zitron, or you can PM me if you wanna get it direct from me, price the same from me minus the cents cents lar.

SBPP0023301 - Battery - Price: RM 79.29

SGDY0010904 - Data Cable - Price : RM 19.31

Cheers!

Just got my data cable from cybermick today. I have been looking for it for soooooo long as I want one for my office, and one for home. Went to all those mobile phone shops before and they were no help at all. The LG mobile shop at IOI mall told me that I can place an order and that the cable will cost me ~RM90!!!! So thanks cybermick for helping me to save so much! I tested it and it's working wonderfully. May consider to get an additional battery in future too... lets see how mine is holding up first.

Anyhow so far I am happy with my KS20. One thing that irritates me though... is the default location of the picture files. If you choose external storage to store your pics, the camera application will automatically save it to your SD card under the folder /Storage Card/. I hunted the net to find a solution and there seem to be none. In the registry, there is this entry which seem very very relevant: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ System/Pictures/Camera/OEM/PictureLocation. However whatever changes I made did not seem to take effect. :-(

Any ideas anyone??

For this photo location thing, i guess the attachment will help you. well, i didnt test, but i do remember there is a setting to change the location of the picture stored.

disclaimer: This software is not made by me. Credits to Schap from xda-dev.

try and let me know the end result.

How to install:
Just put it into your sd card, and run the cab file in ur PPC. after installation, it should be in your program menu.

cheers

most welcome fishman... if u need any other accessories do let me know. I do know many dealers marked up their price unreasonably but we cant blame them, they have to pay rental rite?

in btw, if u got any friends hunting for the KS20, do let me know, i can give a good price to them. PM me if anyone interested.

Cheers!

HI guys, had a few question over here regarding Active Sync 4.5 for Windows XP a.k.a Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista icon_question.gif

1- My work PC is using XP Pro and I use Active Sync 4.5 to syncronize my contacts and email address in my Outlook. My question is, how do we disconnect Active Sync properly as whenever I took out the USB cable, sometimes the phone will automatically activate Active Sync by itself and this is really annoying as I have to manually close down the program (It also cause battery drain faster) cry.gif

2- SInce I use ACtive Sync, whenever I go to place that have Wifi , I cannot browse the Internet . But I can still browse Internet using normal 3GH/SDPA connection. Do u guys know why is this happening? rclxub.gif

FYI, my work PC is connected to domain and Exchange Server.

got simple explaination d. Besides the WM6 software tat took up the memory, do not forget too some of the pre-loaded ringing tones & pictures. delete few of these items, u will see a change. Cheers!

Hi guys,

Just want to share with you on a cool soft keyboard, CooTek Touchpal. It's optimised for one hand usage. There are 2 versions of it - Standard and Professional. The standard one is free and already has all the features that I want from a SIP. rclxms.gif

I installed it on my KS20 and so far so good. Still getting use to it though.

Check it out -> http://www.cootek.com/index.aspx

But doesn't those ring tones and pictures reside in the main 256MB of ROM? So deleting those will free up program memory otherwise known as the RAM? OK, I'll try it when I get home tonight.
