like my gf's uncle got 4 dogs..the shihtzu is the leader at the house...and teach 3 other dogs . doberman , beagle and min pinicher. whatever the 3 other dog did mistake . the shihtzu will bark at them to discipline them

but if Pennywise u got the time to teach the new puppy , there shoudn't be a problem if u wanted to rear a 2nd pup

hahah yea...Hun got a shihtzu before. and she tell us the story too. her shihtzu also know how 2 discipline her boxer and lab .That why she recommend us the best time to rear a dog when our furkid reach 3 year old

yea..my gf's uncle no need teach the other 3 dogs...he tell me that the shihtzu is a leader to them.and the other 3 really know basic command edi and my gf's uncle really no teach them the basic command too. Amazing that even the dobermann really scare the shihtzu when the shihtzu bark at him when he done sumthing wrong too. the dobermann will lay at the floor and dun dare to walk other place already . but my gf's uncle all 4 dogs really obedient
the shihtzu that my gf's owner own is already 14 years old . that time my gf's uncle stay at San Fransisco ..and that time they own the shihtzu already . so when they move back and stay at KL . they decide to rear another dog and that time the shihtzu already 4 years old...surprisingly,the shihtzu really teach all his other 3 furkid .

Wow, your gf's uncle dog from San Fran? That's far man... Shih Tzu leader... Dober follower. Totally unimaginable. The doberman can just easily rip the old Shih Tzu to bits but 14 years liao, the Shih Tzu is like GURU liao... Old wise sensei to the Dober.

Well, I have thought of it very serious and yes, I realized Yang's thread also. I know what its like and I have seen a lot of whelping pictures, read up a lot about mating, studding, breeding, whelping... very frankly, STILL considering.

It wont happen any time in the near future. Possibly if I get a female Westie end of 2007 or early 2008. Have to wait another 1 and 1/2 years only it can mate... So long shot, decide later but yes, I want it to be a female.

When I have a house of my own (which may be soon), I really dont mind coming home to a pack of Westies. I look forward to it actually.

A lady name IreneKang from puppy.com.my is trying to breed her Westies for the first time. She is from Penang and she wants to sell me a female pup for RM3,800. Overpricey but here are the darn nice picts!

It is true, the older dog would teach the younger ones.... coz in doggy world, older dog is normally the pack adviser.... You got the Alpha, which is the leader. We humans play the role of Alpha.... but when we are not around, we got like a substitute loh, which is the oldest dog in the group. I found this through experience..... and it was really a BAD experience for me to learn about the same age gap thing......

Then I read a few dog behaviour and training books and dog keeping guides that advice on keeping your dogs with an age gap of 3 years apart. It really does make a difference.

Some people have it lucky. If you have a breed that is naturally non- aggressive like a ckcs, then such cases won't come up. Shih tzus can be pretty aggressive.... I have been bitten by my old shih tzu before a number of times. So don't be fooled lah by what some people say.... I would take the safe way and wait for 3 years to pass.....even if you can't wait 3 years.... 2.5 years is still ok.

but i doing research on yorkshire terrier now , because i promise my gf to get her a yorkshire terrier or poodle when luilui 2.5 or 3 years old maybe ..westie is one of my dream dog before i get my luilui last time . but maybe one day i will get one gua ..not too sure Hahaha...but rm3.8k a bit pricey to me though . but if got money im sure love to buy from Casper breeder maybe ..but not that soon...

you ppl must remember that the price of the puppy will be the smallest element in the long run... imagine maintenance for a whole pack of dogs!
