Is this related with audiophiles? lol
Anyway, i would recomment LG.
fair price,
10k contrast ratio,
fast response time,
piano black stylish design.

If u watch Astro more often, they go for Sony BRAVIA.

that's the dynamic contrast ratio and not the correct measurement as in contrast ratio. Most of the marketing ppl knew we are easily impressed by inflated figures or numbers.

That's a dynamic contrast, not the actual contrast, the actual contrast might be just 1200 or less. You wouldn't know. Response time might be in accurate, it might be measured as grey to grey. Honestly, for the price, LG LCDs are okay but they're not in the premium range.

The actual contrast is only 1,000:1 biggrin.gif . Can check their full specs at their website.

Well...since i work in this sector, its so easy to make the box look 1st hand. Just use a hot air gun (like a hair dryer) on the seals and put a new one.
Even for most holograms or security seals it will work.
But for those using paper wax tape than no choice but to change the box..

Which mean anywhere we might get a not 1st hand unit lor since it is so easy to re-seal the box ??
Beside checking the box, anything we can do with the LCD tv unit ? Do it have any counter to check it is new but not used b4 ?

Thats easy, most ppl. who repack things are not following standard, so most of the time, the box will look new..BUT, the actual plastic or foam cover that wraps the product itself will look out of place, or the abit torn at the tape side (well, since most of us are so impatient in opening the cover).

There are other ways to tell if the unit has been opened before...but only the manufacturers and the sales know it, most of the time, the carton box itself will have small special markings or small cuts.
But if the unit is returned to the manufacturer, there will be no way of telling this.

For those in penang, please be careful or don't buy from SEC electronic (opposite Queensbay mall).. I am nearly being cheat by them, they will give u display set instead of 1st hand (original) set of LCD TV ... luckily I am able to find out that.. But they refuse to refund cash immediately to me as i pay them in full by cash ... and they said they will give me 1st hand set from their store room tomolo (Sunday) ... just wait and see ...

No wonder, blacks and whites are not that strong on a LG LCD, they looked a little washed out. The new Hitachi LCD is not bad but a little expensive, near RM5K and only 32 inch. They're using the IPS Alpha panel, very good viewing angles but I believe the price will go down later on, probably after CNY. Hitachi LCDs are always more expensive than the competition.

What happened? How did you know that it's a display set? I thought you could pay a deposit first, then the full amount when they have delivered the set to you.

That is the problem, they ask me pay full then ask me to take the set from other branch, when i went there, they just want to pack from the display set. that why i know that is display set but not 1st hand set...

Btw, can anyone who bought LC32A53M, how is the free HDMI cable look like? can you upload the photo here? just want to make sure i not being cheated again , thanks ya

QUOTE(KCv3 @ Jan 19 2008, 05:40 PM)
Went to BEST and evaluated the 32" 100Hz models all using normal std components. Tried it with both DVD and Blu-Ray movie. Here are the findings (based on my eyes of course):

Philips 9432 - Very smooth picture, outweigh D300. Natural colour. With USB.
Sharp A53M - PQ not as good as expected. Look blur / not as sharp as the rest of the models. Colour not sharp.
Sony 300 - Sharp colour and smooth motion picture.
Panasonic 700MK - Sharp colour and smooth picture. Comes with SD slot which others don't.

Overall my conclusion:
Am disappointed as the initial plan was to get A53M. But however after much thought and observation, now might consider D300 as it gives a balance result when watching DVD and Blu-Ray disc. In DVD, Philips provides really natural and smooth picture, but PQ on Blu-Ray is different as the details of picture (i.e face of person) looks computer generated. On the other hand, Panasonic is not bad at all, plus it comes with SD slot, which could be useful for viewing photos (at least to me). My 2 cents.....

Hi people

Continuing this 32 inches LCD TV thread.. I'm still undecided between these 3 LCDs ..

Sharp 32A53

Good :
- Much cheaper than the other two

Bad :
- colour not as sharp as the other two
- No swivel stand (something that I would like to have..)

Panasonic 32LX700MK

Good :
- really smooth picture + nice natural colour
- No motion blur and ghosting
Bad :
- Not much that can be manually configured (relative to others) .Cannot switch-off 100Hz. I've read about how sometimes 100Hz can make something look bad..juddering etc.. or maybe I'm just being paranoid?

Philips 32PFL9423

Good :
- 3 HDMI & USB
- Colour better than Sharp
- A lot of things that can be manually configured

Bad :
- No PC input!!!
- A bit of motion blur for small fast moving object..

But of course, on the matter of PQ, the comments above are based on whatever they show me at the shops.. I didn't get to play around with the settings etc.. and there's also the question of the quality of the source, cables etc... and I also haven't seen Astro on any of those 3.. any comments on this?

I haven't done any research on Sony D300.. Is it worth paying higher price for it? does Sony D300 has a S-video input??

Hmm.. I'm still undecided .. though i'm leaning a bit on the Panny
if only I have the money to get Pioneer Kuro : )

cheers!!

That giraffe brand is popular, I know a few guys using it..

Mine? I got it free as a gift....actually should be Panasonic one but the dealer gave me the pioneer one...but I doubt its pioneer.

Regarding refresh rate, my Panny got option for 50 for 100Hz....100Hz looks better and brighter...i think no flickering. 50Hz one a bit dimmer and there is some flickering....but if you are used to it, you wont notice it until you compare a 100hz unit side by side a 50hz unit.

bro.. which panny did u bought?

cheers..
