QUOTE(lapaq @ Feb 16 2008, 07:22 PM) Was at the shop today and saw the Panasonic Viera TX-32LX700MK...The PQ is very nice IMHO.... Ummm Any input from our LCD/Plasma gurus on the above two models? How does the above compare to SONY 32D300A? I'm now torn between the two...Price is about the same...only 200-300 diff (sony more exp of course)....but I'm leaning towards SONY because the below reason... 1) D300a accept 1080p signal. > I know both are not a 1080p panel 2) D300a uses 10-bit panel 3) D300a output in 24p mode for BD Movie 4) D300a have 3 HDMI input (great for my PS3 and XBOX ..then have another one extra What makes me think twice is the 100hz implementation by Panny is very good compared to SONY...What Hifi magazine give both TV a 5 star rating but I haven't read the full review.. So l need you guys, the great gurus on this thread...pls help me here...my money will be here by end of feb and hopefully I can enjoy my TV by that time... Oh and my main use of the TV will be ranked from most usage (1) to less usage (4) as oer below..... 1) PS3/XBOX games 2) Blu-ray Movies 3) Movies from PS (anime and other downloadable movies) 4) Astro (not very mportant as I'll be using my 29" CRT tv for this mostly...) Thank you in advance... |

Got myself a Sony D300. Brilliant colour output. Astro looks reasonable on normal mode but stretchy on wide mode. Could really see the difference on Astro even when switch the motion enhancer to standard or high. Superb on Xbox360.

I got some questions and I hope sifus can advise:
1. Plasma have better motion speed than LCD. I have seen movies on the ending part where the words come out and I realise LCD TV show jerking and not smooth. Plasma don't have this problem? That's why LCD have 100hz thingy and plasma don't need. 2. Plasma has better viewing angle compared to LCD. If you watch on the side of LCD panel, the picture is washed out. Plasma don't have this problem? 3. Last time I heard ppl say plasma has shorter life span. I see Panasonic Viera plasma models, it says 60k hours. So it's the same as LCD? 4. Power consumption: Plasma in long run saves power because it varies based on brightness of the pictures. 5. Astro pictures is better with Plasma than LCD? 6. Plasma PQ is better than LCD, because their black is deeper and more natural? Please advise. |

QUOTE(DigitalTech @ Feb 21 2008, 04:45 PM) I got some questions and I hope sifus can advise: My 2 cents...1. Power consumption: Plasma in long run saves power because it varies based on brightness of the pictures. 5. Astro pictures is better with Plasma than LCD? 6. Plasma PQ is better than LCD, because their black is deeper and more natural? Please advise. 1) Jerking from text/tv credits is not likely due to plasma motion speed. The so called 'motion speed' is more an issue when camera is moving/fast moving objects. Plasma will retain more resolution and picture detail compared to LCD (even 100/120hz LCD - but of course that helps). Could be the particular TV's processor, refresh rate, player problem, etc etc. Even plasmas can 'jerk'. 2) should be - but LCDs have caught up a lot in terms of viewing angle. 3) Life span is dependent on brand and model. Both technologies have long and short life spans depending on which one - newest plasma viera 100,000 hours to half-life? 4) Plasma power consumption is higher in general - but varies according to picture shown - LCD is fixed. Which one higher overall depends on your model, what you view, etc etc. But general consensus is LCD still wins here 5) In general, but this is not always true - some plasma can be crap as well. 6) In general - but as above - some plasma can be crap. Bottom line - make your choice on specific model - not just on whether plasma or LCD. |

not much choice in plasma la.
to me only 5 brands for plasma - pioneer, panasonic, LG, Samsung and Hitachi (any more?) all 5 are good for plasma, Pioneer is best flat panel, dun care LCD or Plasma. This post has been edited by DigitalKL: Feb 24 2008, 07:13 PM |
