THe ideal case is running on 1:1 divider as the CPU and memory get the maximum performance. 5:4 divider would be the second choice if you can't stable at 1:1 as the CPU will perform faster even the memory is slightly slower.In this case memory bandwidth will be lower a bit.

@albert
thanks for clearifying. hmm....so the main thing is the mobo itself that cant cupply enough voltage to run >250fsb. it got better mobo then this issue may be solve i think. not to say that running at >250fsb but at least running at 240 1:1 then i will be happy already. smile.gif however, not in mind to invest anymore on this old rig, just let it be la. tongue.gif

nice ram you have there. if i got better mobo then i may interested in that patriot ram. too bad my b\mobo max only has max vdimm of 2.68v sad.gif

@ac_N1
as i know that your mobo is quite a good quality. you can see that sang_karim is ocing quite well with the same mobo like yours. your superpi result is as expected from a 2.4b. maybe is lack of the fsb bandwidth as well as the ram speed. what divider you currently running??

if you running with only pata alone, will you able to oc?? how far can you push??

just notice that you are using xms. drool.gif how much you bought?? brows.gif another hardcore ocer reporting in. thumbup.gif

@Albert
Thanks for the ram divider clarification. Hehe.. blush.gif By then, do u know about the OC potential for Vitelic 5ns chip? Its from Mosel and my xms was using it.Well.. Read from RAM handbook says that this chip can perform quite well but just i dont have the tool to test it out. So ask around and see whats the result.

@sang
Thx for the information. Seems like its the SATA controller were having problem with the mobo NB. Gota see whether the SATA drive is using the PIO Mode or not huh.. hmm.gif

Oh there is something to do with the NCQ problem. THe 865P can't support NCQ query hence it crashes.Like that don't get the Seagate SATA with NCQ hdd i think will do,else just get another SATA Controller Card from Promis.

i read the link you post just now, i think maybe is i bend the sata cable, i will try to change another cable try it out. hmm.... unsure.gif and it does mentioned about NCQ stuffs, but io never face that problem before until recently i do some cable management and i did fold the sata cable. i think thats the reason, i better check it out tonight. hmm.gif

mine not support ncq. hmm...... seems like newer sata hdd mostly support ncq.

Edited: ncq seems like an advanced features especially for sata2. but mostly for 478 mobo sata controllers doesnt support that. which will bring sata issue. mine quite old hdd that only having 2mb buffer 7.2k rpm barracuda HDD. later check my sata hdd at office. kekekeke.....

Haha.. Some manufacturer are using NCQ for their sata drive. Due wanna improve the speed. But seems like WD didnt use this function thou. They claim that by using this feature will hurt sequential read and write performance.

brows.gif Gota get WD HDD soon! laugh.gif
