Added on August 28, 2007, 11:22 am@ fylon, your mobo i think is preety good in overclocking one.Why you say the mobo limiting the proc o/c ? Maybe you try to pump up the vCore and see.

p4p800 dlx limiting you?? if really want to say which components limits you, i think most probably is the ram. 4 slots full normally wont oc better than 2 sticks. and your rams are mix chipset as well. 3.6GHz is quite sweet already. wink.gif
@raymond

Please update mine. Thanks. notworthy.gif

Halo,i've updated your list inside. rclxm9.gif rclxms.gif Nice to see more and more S478 users here.@fylon,i think 3.6GHz is preety good to handle most of the games today. icon_idea.gif For me i'm satisfied with 3.6GHz speed. laugh.gif

Check this out

laugh.gif 1st in V4......smells really nice.

Their post there seems like saying that the Asus Probe max speed can be ignored. biggrin.gif I think maybe that's the recommended max speed to be put on the mobo. I suspect is due to their NB with passive cooling and with be extreme hot when FSB is too high.

Lol.. Kinda satisfy already. Just thought on push more ma. See how much juice can my procs been squeezed! Since is D0 stepping, produce lesser heat (thats what i read from from review), then try lo. Aim higher.. Plan of reaching 3.8Ghz. flex.gif Heh.. Yea! 3.6Ghz kinda enough for recent game liao. Im playing Dawn of War with this speed and pair with my 98's GC, no lag at all. biggrin.gif
Haha.. No la! Where got hardcore. Just to stabilized the ram voltage ma. By then its rare item. I saw 1 on garage sales! drool.gif Yup.. up vAGP will help on stabilizing the system. That what i did before. But dont up too much lo. Later GC got doomed. whistling.gif
*
Play games at 3.8GHz... drool.gif Very syok man.But i think that maybe one of your RAM is limitting you, else proprtly the proc almost max up but not so possible. brows.gif Maybe try to use the loose timing on it ?

Duh... Already put the loosen one that my ram and mobo. in order to get 3.6 eh. sweat.gif Now is 3-4-4-8. loosen then the ram itself timing. Haha! Play game with 3.6 is very syok already. The gaming loading is FAST! laugh.gif

I guess my procs still can be push more. Since sHawTY can hit 4G with the same procs as mine. I guess mine atleast can hit 3.8 on air! Probably is the ram which limiting the OC wall atm. 4x 256 with single sided ram. One of the chip failed reach the speed already cause the system unstable lo.. shakehead.gif
*
Haha,ya really fast at 3.6GHz. brows.gif I enjoy it very much. Loading the Tiberium Wars also can,but play with my 9550 with o/c can only get 30FPS all moment.I believe yours still manage to go higher one. rclxms.gif

WOW, just away for awhile the number of post increasing again. laugh.gif old school spirit really strong. thumbup.gif
maybe in asus probe just tell what is the max speed cpu support at stock. In p4 478 line the highest is 3.6GHz.

is your nb sink hot? hows the temp?? mine when load is 40C+- on par with my cpu. sweat.gif

my 12v very low. cry.gif 11.5v+- stable....damn... sad.gif i scare it may damage my components. haiz...
*
My NB is hot also when full loading like play games, but the temp report in the software is always lower than my CPU temp one.Max speed that support at stock for proc in our mobo? This is kinda interesting.

haha......maybe he will satisfied when he reach 4GHz. laugh.gif

i dont know correct or not la, but seems many asus p4p or p4c users are manage to go beyond 3.6GHz, so it shouldnt hold us back from getting above 3.6

Just mine not ommp enough. laugh.gif just leave it as it is la. haha....i just realise that i currently using slot 2&4. hahaha....i swap them when troubleshooting 73GT and forgot put back. tongue.gif maybe at 1&3 can do oc better/worse?. hmm.gif try them tonight.
*
I think by using other slot also going to give the same result as they are still controlled by the NB. laugh.gif

So fast! 1st day of V4 has reached 2page! sweat.gif S478 really kicking @ss! laugh.gif Haha.. 3.8Ghz will satisfy me already. Dont worry! Was hunting for better ram now. So can go beyond 3.6Ghz! Lol.. Hm.. How to read north bridge temperature in Asus board? Was wandering about this question. Btw, PI score was use to measure what? Measure the speed of ram?
*
Super PI is used to measure the calculation of decimal digits. laugh.gif What brand of RAM are you hunting for?The Corsair LED series? drool.gif

aiyo.... taiko, cant la....laugh.gif insufficient funds and lack of good ram, cpu and proc. haha...... feel free drop by sometime on this old school thread. i know you have tons of experiences. notworthy.gif
Dont play play with "old guy" oo.....this thread is going to be happening like before.

i use mbm5, asus probe also can read the temp, but for abit mobo i not sure. i think speedfan, mbm can show the temp.
*
The "old guy" really has good experience hence he has good proc and mobo also. Between speedfan,mbm5 can be used to read the temperature of the nb and proc. , between Abit board is using Abit EQ.

Hehe.. Depend on the ram & procs as well. If can push higher sure will wanna go beyond 4Ghz! drool.gif Getting new parts? Thats great bro. Im searching for better ram as well. Haha.. Found Supertalent brand ram in garage. 250 for 1G kit include postage. Is that worth? hmm.gif The ram claim can run at 2-2-2-5 speed wo.. Supertalent or Teem extreme?

Btw, just tried with 3.61G and guess wad.. 10secs prime then restart me! mad.gif Seems my current ram really hit the wall..
*
Oh,Super Talent 2*512MB only RM250 ? The price is cheaper than the other high performance RAM yet can run at 2-2-2-5 drool.gif TeamExtreme one i'm not sure. LAst 2 weeks i saw one person was letting go his Hyper-X,the RAM was also having timing at 2-x-x-x....He was letting go at RM250 per pair(2*512MB) but i didn't get it because lacked of $$$ now. cry.gif

Yea.. Found on garage sales! haha.. Hm.. There was 3 performance ram on sales on the moment. Haha.. PQI, TeamExtreme TeemX, and SuperTalent. Was wander which 1  are better then grab it. All the price are in between 250-200 lidat. Hyper X? hmm.gif Heard that it wasnt preform wise wo.. Is that true?

By then was waiting seller reply about the ram. Hehe..
Ar... sweat.gif shocking.gif Still got such problem? BH-5 picky? What do u mean bro? Hm.. Then die lo shakehead.gif duno what type of ram to choose.. DDR booster just an option for me. Hehe.. Might wanna get it if the price is cheap.
*
BH5 i think is not so famous in Intel system like our P4. AMD side more prefer to BH5.The Hyper-X i saw was 2 weeks ago and now ahve already sold off.I got Pm the seller too. PQI RAM i got no idea as not much people are using.TeamExtreme and Super Talent both are famous among overclockers. brows.gif Can either grab one of them.About the DDR booster, last time i saw one forummer selling on very cheap price only. This one in garage sales is a bit expensive i think.

Take out challange,can.....with the condition you must be having a Prescott Processor. laugh.gif northwood is very hard to reach that speed.

hmm.....learn alot for those rams, BH5 is good for tight timings. for p4 normally it needs high speed instead of tight timing.

no la.....just 3.3GHz nia....where got 3.5GHz?? tongue.gif
*
Oh,even 3.3GHz is sufficeint already to handle games. biggrin.gif BH5 is good in tight timing, but our P4 prefer loose timing rather than tight timing while on high FSB.
