I know some mobos are picky on RAM. Have to becareful when choosing on RAM.  yawn.gifT: I will be out station for a few days and only be back on next coming Tuesday.

hmm.....learn alot for those rams, BH5 is good for tight timings. for p4 normally it needs high speed instead of tight timing.

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Aug 29 2007, 02:47 PM)
Oh,even 3.3GHz is sufficeint already to handle games. biggrin.gif  BH5 is good in tight timing, but our P4 prefer loose timing rather than tight timing while on high FSB.

Wah.. Learned alot about RAM thiggy! Haha.. Was planning to get a better ram so can go further. Hm.. Need to make consideration before make any purchase. Otherwise bought wrong then worse! laugh.gif P4 system need high speed instead of tight timing? hmm.gif Learned agian. Hah.. yea.. Feel the needs of loosen timing when my rigs go over 230fsb.

It says in the BIOS updates that it supports Prescott CPUs. Installing a Prescott 478 should be fine. smile.gif

is it because u didn't supply enuf vdimm?
usually 2.8V can give a good BH5 to run 2-2-2-5@DDR440

Added on August 30, 2007, 4:04 am@fylon,
seriously, running 4dimm was no go for all platform, not to mention S478.
try get 2 X 512MB ram and OC kaw-kaw.

here are some advice :

1. change your ram:fsb ration. make ram running 100 or 133mhz,
then start to clock up fsb to find the best cpu clock. while doing that, run some prime or orthos to stress the cpu for stability. (pls do with stock vcore 1st)

2. once u had the cpu sweet spot, start work with ram. see how much yr ram can be clock with stock timing & vdimm.

3. it's best if u can compile the oc attemp into excel sheet so that is easier for u to refer .

4. after u had both ram and cpu sweet spot, try to match them up for the best combination. refer the excel file earlier to make the best OC.

*remember to try this at stock Vcore/Vdimm 1st. slowly increase the
voltage after u had obtain the best OC to squeeze even more mhz from it. remember to burn in your system (best if over night) for stability check.

Wah.. Advises from 'old folk' eh! Haha.. Jk jk! Thanks for the advise albert. Really learn alot! laugh.gif Tonight go home try with 2 stick hynix and see how it perfrom. Else then gota lower down the ratio. As for me, i prefer to run at full 1:1.. But that kinda hard for 4x stick ram.. shakehead.gif Compile excel sheet for OC!? OMG! Thats really pro! Haha! Got do homework type! thumbup.gif

Yeah, I read about those reports where BH-5s require 2.8v to start up.

But what's the use anyway, having only 512MB of RAM for my PC isn't enough, and if I want 1GB I have to pair it with KVRs which can't take strict timings, so there's not much of a choice. smile.gif
