QUOTE(fylon @ Aug 28 2007, 07:47 PM) So fast! 1st day of V4 has reached 2page! Are you sure you'll be satisfied when you hit 3.8GHz? So far now for my board, I dropped my RAM voltage from 3v to 2.8v, and tests that used to crash aren't crashing, gonna perform extra tests with Memtest86+ and extended Blend tests of SP2004 later on Is the NB temperature measured under System temperature? QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Aug 28 2007, 11:12 PM) lap the nb sink help the cooling alot? cool...... replace the paste as well. I've already replaced the paste with AS5, but haven't done any lapping yet to the heatsink. I'll post a bit of results if there is any yup, is the system temp. QUOTE(fylon @ Aug 28 2007, 11:25 PM) Hehe.. Depend on the ram & procs as well. If can push higher sure will wanna go beyond 4Ghz! Yeah I saw that earlier when I was browsing thru Garage Sales. Btw, just tried with 3.61G and guess wad.. 10secs prime then restart me! Usually 2-2-2-5 RAMs come in Samsung TCCD chips or BH-5 chips. BH-5 chips can be picky, so do test them out before you buy |

QUOTE(fylon @ Aug 29 2007, 10:21 AM) Yea.. Was thinking of take off either 1 pair of the ram and see how was it perform. Should be of the ram chip having problem to reach 241fsb. I encountered tons of problems whenever I tried using my Mushkin 2x256MB RAMs with BH-5, even in using a single RAM stick.Yea.. Found on garage sales! haha.. Hm.. There was 3 performance ram on sales on the moment. Haha.. PQI, TeamExtreme TeemX, and SuperTalent. Was wander which 1 are better then grab it. All the price are in between 250-200 lidat. Hyper X? By then was waiting seller reply about the ram. Hehe.. Ar... It could be the motherboard that's giving the compatibility problems, but I used those RAMs in Nforce2 boards, namely the DFI Lanparty B and A7N8X Deluxe, which all had the same problem. Just giving you a warning. |

QUOTE(overclockalbert @ Aug 30 2007, 03:39 AM) is it because u didn't supply enuf vdimm? Yeah, I read about those reports where BH-5s require 2.8v to start up. usually 2.8V can give a good BH5 to run 2-2-2-5@DDR440 But what's the use anyway, having only 512MB of RAM for my PC isn't enough, and if I want 1GB I have to pair it with KVRs which can't take strict timings, so there's not much of a choice. |

Does anyone know the reason for this?
When I do stress testing using Prime95 Multithread Edition, with the Large FFT test on, one thread would always fail within 30 minutes where as the other thread would go on as though nothing happened. My processor is stable, raising Vcore did not solve the problem, same goes for the memory, which is also stable. Now currently I'm trying to raise AGP voltage to test, but I hope someone here has this similar problem and share their views on it. I also read that increasing AGP voltage might fry ATI cards, and I have changed the chips that regulate the voltage to a cheaper variant because I accidentally ripped one out before. All the more for the card to burn. |

QUOTE(fylon @ Sep 3 2007, 12:15 AM) colin, if u're dare enough like me. Try max up ur vAGP and try prime agian. I bet this will be something good happened on ur rigs. See my result above.. I might try pushing it again soon, but I doubt I could go anymore further since I want to stay with 1:1 ratios and insufficient processor cooling. I'll just see how it goes later. |

QUOTE(fylon @ Sep 3 2007, 01:30 PM) Ic.. Hm.. Atleast try to push the vAGP higher a little more. As for my mobo, need to goes above 1.7v then will get a stable prime process.. By then, my ram ratio drop. Will try to set back ratio back to 1:1 and prime agian tonight then tell the result. It did stabilise my overclock when I tested it before so currently I'm leaving it max at 1.7v. What I'm just afraid is my video card that might just give up, and I don't have any wads of cash for a replacement |

I have a Thermaltake Smart Fan 2 laying around on my desk from my old TT Volcano9 heatsink.
I don't know if I should use it with in my casing, might use it as an exhaust fan but I'm just afraid about the noise that comes along with it. |

QUOTE(kabukiawie @ Sep 6 2007, 03:55 PM) This just shows how a midrange card can trash a highend card two generations back. Today I just got three 40MM fans running at 10,000 RPM from dj.eRicZzz. Two of them will be used as RAM fans, where as the single fan will be used on my NB. The noise is just really loud, but not till it's unbearable. Tonight I'm lapping the NB heatsink, and doing the necessary work, let's just see if this works for 250 FSB |

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Sep 6 2007, 06:52 PM) Yes correct,3.4GHz is the highest and yet is very hard to get it. It's the only size that can fit my RAM coolers. Furthermore bigger fans have bigger deadspots @colinwong89,10k rpm 40mm fans? That's is super noisy man.Why need to high rpm fans?I think is better to use bigger fan like 60mm or 80mm fan to blow on the RAM,much more silent. |

Immediately after I reached home, I got the wires out of the back of the casing and laid it down to 'operate' on it. Removing the AI7 stock NB heatsink was no pain, I just had to remove the AGP card out of the way to make some workspace.
Studying the base of the heatsink, it was a real mess. The surface was really rigid and unpolished (should have lapped it in the first place), which was a real good reason to grab my sandpapers out for a good lapping After cleaning the heatsink up, front and center, and a good wipe of isoprophyl alcohol, it was finally ready for the camera. What could I say, it was all worth the sweat. My best shot: ![]() Once the cover girl shot was done, it was time to attach one of the 10,000 RPM fans to the heatsink. I never knew that the fan was that thick, so I had to dig up my collection of unused screws, and used 1" screws in length which came from my old Thermaltake Volcano 9. Removed the RAM cooler, took out the old rubbish fans and slotted the remaining Nidecs in. It just looked real badass and it now weighs three times it's original weight! ![]() Done was the rewiring, so it was time to test the mean machine. Switched it on, and OMG, I suddenly had a supersonic aircraft beside me. My casing is now even louder than before, not to mention the erratic vibrations coming from it! I expected it to be loud, but not THAT loud. With the high pitched sound that it now has, I immediately scrapped the idea to plug my TT SmartFan 2 Haven't attempted to push the PC further, but it'll be done in a few days. Watch out fylon |
