colin, if u're dare enough like me. Try max up ur vAGP and try prime agian. I bet this will be something good happened on ur rigs. See my result above.. thumbup.gif

I might try pushing it again soon, but I doubt I could go anymore further since I want to stay with 1:1 ratios and insufficient processor cooling. I'll just see how it goes later. smile.gif

Ic.. Hm.. Atleast try to push the vAGP higher a little more. As for my mobo, need to goes above 1.7v then will get a stable prime process.. By then, my ram ratio drop. Will try to set back ratio back to 1:1 and prime agian tonight then tell the result.

It did stabilise my overclock when I tested it before so currently I'm leaving it max at 1.7v. What I'm just afraid is my video card that might just give up, and I don't have any wads of cash for a replacement sad.gif

Ic.. For my mobo the max vAGP is 1.8v. By then tried lasts night it helps as for my case. Can get beyond 3.6Gh which i couldnt reach before. Thus, max up the vAGP helps. laugh.gif But true, max the vAGP really heat up GC..Mine idle heat 58'c which 8'c higher then usual.

keep an eye on your gcard, 9800pro is quite a very hot card even at stock. Thats from my experience.

maybe get a better cooling solution will help you get higher speed. smile.gif i believe that the main fact that hold you back is the temp. not the vagp. With stock cooling you can get till 3.6GHz is very very good already. thumbup.gif boost a little bit of vagp is not harming your gc but at 1.8v i scare your gc cant handle it long run. save that risk and invest on better cooling will serve you better like get a good hfs to tame your prescott. tongue.gif

yea.. I knew that.. with 1.8v vAGP the temp can hit near 60'c in idle is kinda scary thou. Waiting for new cooler for my 98 now.. Hm.. I was wander about my system thermal as well.. Might be the air flow was that good and cause heat up. near 60'c for my procs when full load. Guess is too high.. hmm.gif

How do you tolerate the noise from that Tornado... laugh.gif And I agree, once there's a chance to migrate to Core 2 Duos, I'm going for it. Socket 478 has been fun, but it's not gonna last for long. sad.gif

LOL.. S478 just for fun now. Sooner or later they will get eliminated. If got a chance and enough fund, do make a chance. We all here are sort of money thats why stick to old tech.. sweat.gif

Btw, wanna ask advise for high performance S478 cooler. Any recommendation? My hyherX fan almost kong already. Now looking for alternative. By then, anyone know where got sell 10cm x 10cm fan? I know its rare.. But my hyperX only use that size. doh.gif I just burnt two of the shiny shiny LED last night due of increase the vAGP.... sweat.gif

yeap, fylon, don't risk frying your gcard @1.8v, not worth it. sweat.gif Even if it can run fine now, it most likely will live a short life. Trust me & kabukiawie, we've been there, done that. AGP card mid/hi end does not come cheap these days. sad.gif Investing in gpu or CPU cooler is better value for money. FYI, I am also using Zalman Fatality gpu and cpu cooler for my s478 rig, and further silent it with a dual fan controller. I m satisfied with its performance. Now I can torrent/download throughout day and night without hearing the noises from the rig's fans! Can sleep well with the pc on always...hehehe...silent FTW~! thumbup.gif

kabukiawie, don't mislead the ppl here ler, mine not new casing, but recycled casing! To reduce the casing temp, I've meshed the side panel, replacing the side acrylic and mount a side 120mm fan (blowing out) to further reduce case temp, very effective as it reduces overall temp compared to its original setup. 24" Dell LCD panel, you find it nice? fast fast get one liao... brows.gif

Good s478 cooler is super rare now. Good luck in finding it. For your almost dead fan, r u sure it is 100mm? I believe it is 92mm fan, u can buy it from shop conviniently, or better still get a converter shroud that converts 92mm to 120mm!

hehehe...coz you mentioned about the tccc ram before, i assume that you may have interest in his ram as well, 2 x 1GB aeneon ram is quite sweet o.

10 x 10?? i doubt that available in the market, as i know there is only got 92mm and 120mm fan, try get the 120mm from your boss to try la, see can mod to fit in or not. tongue.gif if can you can enjoy high hfm and quite cooling. icon_rolleyes.gif
